The exact same thing happend to me as a kid. During a sleepover presumably with popcorn spilled near pillow. The doctor was a cool nice old guy who got a kick out of all the things he had pulled out of kids ears, noses, etc over the years. I did not know what was in my ear and would hear it moving around sometimes when I went underwater or shook my head..

I thought only I was so stupid. I did that at age 4, put two kernels in. My body heat expanded them. I still remember screaming and being held down by medical staff as they dug them out. One anyway... the other one had to be surgically removed. Broke my eardrum also.

I did that when I was about 7. Put several kernels in each ear. It hurt too much for the doctor to get them out, so I had to spend the night in the hospital and was put under general anesthesia the next day so they could get them out.

I thought my kid was the only who did this. My son did this when he was 3 and kept saying a bug was in his ear. I took that kid to the Dr 3 times before they referred me to an ENT doctor. Low and behold - he had stuck a popcorn kernal in his ear. Since the previous doctors tried flushing the ear so many times with water, the popcorn swelled 3 times it size...what nightmare!!!!
