I've never driven an automatic and never wanted to. Manual driviing is fun and I have complete control of my car. It has an indicator light which tells me it can handle a higher gear. Sometimes on a quiet country road I accelerate a little and then change gear. Great fun.
Our family has two cars, a pt cruiser and a dodge ram 1500. Both are manual, so I learned manual. My mom can drive manual while drinking coffee, I feel like my family is an outlier xD
@fattyifalive yep i leaned one when i was just learning to drive i really thought i forgot owned autos sense then. but i got a truck with one a few weeks ago and was back to driving like a pro in 5 minutes.
STOP BASHING AUTOMATiCS! Jesus fucking christ already. Its none of your business what people drive i Live in NYC with high traffic and and low speeds itd only be a pain in the ass to drive a shift here.
I'm from Germany and my grandmother is the only person I know driving automatic. And that pretty much says what we think about automatics over here...
It's Only Driving Stick! Why is considered 'Not manly' to drive an auto. It's only a skill in life that you have an option to learn. It's not even hard any way.
Im pretty sure that's a dodge stratus that your driving, Yes? No? 2001ish?? Haha I have a 2001 RT. autostick :P haha rounded air vents. And the steering wheel :D
Looks like I'm part of the 6% then. I learned how to drive in a 2002 Honda Civic and really haven't cared for automatic transmission cars since. I understand the appeal to an automatic car, especially a beginner, but at least give it a try!
Haha I remember driving my first manual eclipse like it was just last month ...because it was haha he did better than me by a long shot but im better now
Great watch! Loved the hill part as well. xD Not bad for first time! I just bought my first car, a 97 Porsche Boxster and chose to get stick after only having driven automatics, so much more fun than automatic! Oh and I'm in the US, proud stick owner!
Lol! This was hilarious. Put him in a mazdaspeed 3 or a Porsche 911... when they start to move you need to stop your foot right there when the clutch starts to engage! They're some of the hardest clutches to learn on. He wouldve stalled every single time if those were his first attempted cars
@beirut818 74% of the cars built in 2012 yes. 99% of the people in Europe drive up in a manual car and almost as many drive manuals in their every day life.
So the right way to put it. 90-95% of Europeans drive standard, and 6% in USA. :
damn thats a pretty good car to learn in, imagine learning in a stationwagon where the car starts if youdont press the clutch and where the clutch hardly works. (my situation D=)
He looks like he's having a hard time finding 3rd gear, which is probably the easiest gear to find. The shifter wants to be in the middle. If you can't find 3rd and 4th gear, you should get out of the car and never drive a manual again.
@MrSmith4876 i drive stick shift, all my friends in high school drive manual, my dad and ALL my uncles drive manual. so yeah i think your statement is wrong
@MrSmith4876 I AGREE! i have 2003 BMW M5 and most people always ask me why dont u drive auto? much more relaxing. i say cuz you are not a real driver :D
@FahadOrfali1993 i have no videos cuz i got it 3 months ago. i will upload soon as i can.. its charcol (greyish) 115k miles on it, i got it for $14k :D nice huh !
@MrSmith4876 Here in Europe manual cars are standard. You have to ask for automatic cars (most ppl drive manuals, about 90%) and have to be prepared to pay alot more and wait for the car to get shipped, or built up.
And I have to agree with my german friend here, automatics here in Europe are usually driven by richer ppl (older) and/or ppl without a limb. They make a very small % in general.
The only american cars I like are Fords, because they built manual cars. But that's maybe to us Europeans only. Dunno how they do in the states.
So... you slowly release the clutch and slowly give it gas then you don't need the clutch again till you shift higher or lower right? Damn I want an eclipse 5-SPD and it would be a pimpin first car :)
thats a good job for ur first time. im 16 nd i just got my first car a few months ago. its 98 eclipse gs with the 5 speed manual. my first time driving stick was just like this except i stalled going in reverse a few times. lol. but if u wanna get good at it just practice everyday for a few hours nd drive around. thats wat i had 2 do. by day 2 driving stick is gonna be as easy as tieing a tie. keep it up.
looks like he did pretty good for his first time. I remember my first time I drove stick in a VW Jetta Diesel and it took practice to learn how to balance and switch between the clutch and gas. Its always good to have people learn manual cause these days automatic cars are taking over.
@TheSvvagganator He would have been better off learning in a diesel.... Easiest clutch to drive with it took me a good day to get the shifts down to science on my 98 TDI, and there's so much torque i usually just start off letting go of the clutch smoothly and when it's completely engaged and rolling i'll start using the gas pedal, this helps the wear on the clutch as opposed to revving the thing trying to find the engaging point in the clutch, meanwhile 800-1000 bucks later...
this guy fail's at the end with the e bake lol im driving a saburu impreza wrx sti and i can say that i was like him at fisrt but a day after i was ok and a week after it was perfect so keep trying and you will get it!!!!(im sorry for your car if it broke i broke my car the first time it suck's!!)
