Something I've noticed, you like to keep your pencil blunt during shading? I guess if you keep it sharpened it'll give it streak marks? I always wondered why I was bad at shading large areas and it might be because of a sharpened pencil.
I guess my question is, when you need to shade large areas is it better to keep the pencil blunt?
Have you drawn any cars, well if your havent, there is usually a sharp edge with a dark shade to it, but i can never be able to get it right, its disturbing, is there a way to do it.
That is so great! I would love to be able to draw like that! I would like a little advice though. When I draw, I can never get the shading part down pat. Are there any really good art class's you might recomend, or maybe drawing books? this is great, but just a little too fast. =) thanks for posting, youre really great and I want to be like you!
Thanks for the kind words. Check out my Drawing multi character techniques here on you Tube. It's more advanced but also more comprehensive. The most important thing is to keep your light source consistent
Would you do custom work for any one? this is a very nice picture I want to someone who can draw a dragon that i want to put onto my back ( i wish i could draw myself but reality tells me i suck ) i would even consider small payment for a drawing.
Hi, This piece took me about 30 minutes from start to finish for the shading part. The line work with the shading took approx. 45 minutes. Once you get the basics of the anatomy and line work down and memorised the shading is just a matter of following the direction of the light source and shade on the opposite side of where the light would hit.
This shading segment took about 45 minutes to completely shade. Yes I did sharpen the pencil. The first sharpening lasts about 15 minutes depending on how dark the value area.
man dragons are so hard to draw , i don't evn know how you've made it look so real, it was amazing , i can only hope i can get that good, made when im 30 or 40 lol.....
I want to thank all of you for your kind words and kudos. It has been very rewarding seeing people become inspired to draw and benefitting from my demos.
Do you have a DeviantArt account? I would love to see a gallery of your work.

How much time do you spend shading??
Because I am kinda impatient and I know I need to spend more time on the details and stuff!
how much time did you spent in the total shading of a big drawing like this dragon?

You use a chisel point or a regular ponit for the pencil?
italouruguayricano 4 years ago
Hi,
I normally use a standard machine sharpener but a chisel is just as good.
