My British great grand father fought as an officer in Burma against the Japanese along side the Gurkha and he thought they were the most ferocious and bravest soldiers that he stood by. I didnt get to talk to him about the war because he died one year after I was born but apparently, he was awarded by his squad of Ghurka with a Kukri because he treated them with such respect. It is sad to hear how these veterans are nowtreated in the country they fought for. =(

This is outrageous. These soldiers should be given the opportunity to claim full rights as Her Majesty's subjects at any time during or after their service. The French Foreign Legion's soldiers are given the option of French citizenship following service and U.S. service personnel converting from permanent residents to citizens get an accelerated process. Why are we so slow to take care of those providing for our protection and liberty? We must take better care of all our veterans.

My British great grand father fought as an officer in Burma against the Japanese along side the Gurkha and he thought they were the most ferocious and bravest soldiers that he stood by. I didnt get to talk to him about the war because he died one year after I was born but apparently, he was awarded by his squad of Ghurka with a Kukri because he treated them with such respect. It is sad to hear how these veterans are nowtreated in the country they fought for. =(

Can someone tell me why so many Gurkhas have Gurung as a surname? I swear in my area there is a family of 200 or something. In about 1/5 classes there is a student from nepal whos surname is Gurung. Hope someone can explain.
