And WoW was pretty much a direct clone of EQ. In order to compete in the industry you need to take what the other guy does and do it better. It's cheap but in the end allows you too gather the populace belonging to the other guy. Now the problem is being too identical makes it less popular while you have AoC which added more new things to the MMO genre... which is both good and bad, new things tend to be risky.

At least AoC managed to hide the fact that the combat is still the same old "click ability as soon as it comes out of cooldown"(seeing as combos are far superior to trying to avoid the opponent's shield counters, and combos have cooldowns). And they literally say that they're counting on the Warhammer's popularity to make this a succes. Bodes ill for the gameplay imo. Throwing a bone in the dog house: DF.
