  • I personally think Buddy Holly is the true king of rock n roll, but really if you think about it, not just one guy should be the king, they all together should be the king. there were many great artists out there and not just 1 deserves the title.

  • My runaway did runaway in this top...

  • Nice mixture. I`m a Bill Haley fan.

  • Y NO RAVE ON???

  • Agree on labamba vote

  • I really think that La Bamba by Ritchie Valens should have been #1!

  • love this music

  • If you're a diggin' these swingin tunes, please checkout rockabillygone all one word, for authentic rockabilly!!

  • This was the time when America was the land of opportunity. Chevy, Hot Dog,and Apple pie.

  • @gabormonika i remember some of those times ! i was born in 1948. those were good yrs.

  • I knew that was going to be number 1

  • They're all great but Little Richie and Elvis Presley are outstanding, that's it.

  • Fuck the 1990s and fuck the backstreet boys.

  • I born in 1997 but I Love the 50's and 60's music is awesome.. I want born in this time

  • @danielitaCS2697 OMG i actully thought that i was the person like you.

  • But the way ...where in this list is ritchie valens ? He deserve to be here too.

  • @romerozombie85 i am think exactly like you and i born in 1979 but still love this great music i wish too to travel back on time like back to the future movie to see this huge artist live !!!

  • I AGREE THE 50'S MUST COME BACK. I LOVE THAT.

  • AND DONT BE CRUEL NUMBER 15!!!!

  • @UKnerfreviewer1998 Now, that is one that I like

  • Why is heartbreak hotel number 23!!!!!!!!

  • @UKnerfreviewer1998 cos it's shite!. I wouldn't put it in the top 100

  • @Alan48ist You have no sense in music good sir if you think elvis is bad

  • @Alan48ist I didn't say presley was bad I said hearbreak hotel was shite. Read the comment before you answer

  • 100% agree with top 3

  • it´s actually nice touch that in those times men wear a suits.... nowadays suits are mostly for high-class work, funerals and weddings..... damn.... as one certain man always says - suit up !

  • the best elvis presley

  • en passant: despite elvis is considered the king (commercial king, imho), buddy holly (and johnny cash) had much more influence on music of the following decades (actual rockabilly comes mostly from buddy holly, beatles in the persons of lennon and mc cartney told more than once that their biggest -early- influence was buddy's music and so on...)

  • Taste is subjective, but there r not enough Buddy Holly's songs and the only two r hardly classifiable as "rock n roll"...

  • I think Hound Dog should be 1956 and Rock Around the Clock should be 1955/56. Johnny B Goode - 1958. I still have the 78 RPM in the crawl space of my basement.

    Ken, Toronto

  • Elvis pelvis'

  • asome

  • Why are blacks always credited with inventing rock and roll? A lot of these songs were written by white people.

  • The Beatles - Twist n Shout ,,,, ???

  • @DanielFaragelo you will find them 10 years after the 50's

  • And Chuck Berry number 2. Rock on Back To The Future!

  • Earthangel should be number 1! Rock on Back To The Future!

  • those crazy teenagers and their banging rock music...

  • No Larry Williams?

  • ALL 50's/60's LOVERS!! I strongly apologise if you consider this spam. however my band (on this cannel mellorvision) are the closest thing to rockin 50's and swinging 60's you will find. If you like our tunes please give this comment a like so more people can get on board and bring music back!!

  • čt? Czech television!!! i fucking love you man (the beginning)

  • This music is better than the Beatles and the 60s "British invasion".

  • Elvis is like jb of the 1950's

  • @TheLPSmoon go to hell, JB is a pile of S***T, Elvis is the greatest performer of all the time, and will always be.

  • @MrRobinPresley Thats not what i mean. I HATE JB.HE IS SO STUPID! what im saying is jb is popular and elvis was popular in the 50's. girls would scream for elvis girls scream for jb. so there. Also i love elvis so you can shut up.

  • @TheLPSmoon sorry, it wasn't my intention to offend someone that loves Elvis and hates jb as much as me.

  • Where's the British groups.........Still at school learning those chords that shook the world.

  • great to see the old videos...

  • oh I wanted to see Ritchy Valez playing La Bamba - and just read the commend below that there is no video of it at all. Shame

  • @violcik123 i think you mean ritchie valens.

  • nº 1 Chuck.. mierda.. FUCK YOU.. the Winner ITS eLVIS PRESLEY

  • Elvis Presley Its better than all.

  • I wish I was born in 1938. Enjoy my high school days in the 1950's Graduate in 1956 and spend my years after high school with this music along with the 1960's music. Instead I was born in mid- 1998. Wrap, hip-hop. That's AWFUL! The 50's must come back. Thumbs up if you agree!

  • @romerozombie85 The Second World War would have taken your childhood.

And if you don't like the modern music, just don't listen to it.

  • @romerozombie85 not all hip hop is bad. just like not all 50's music is good

  • @romerozombie85 i agree with you im 14 (turning 15) and i love music from 1920s-2000

  • @romerozombie85 My thoughts exactly!!!

  • @romerozombie85 Nice to see more young people into the 50s...well i'm just 16 myself, but you know. Greaser for life. If you like rockabilly theres some newer bands with that style, Rebel Son, Wild Rooster, Billy brunette, and then theres this thing called psychobilly that most of us greasers like, such as nekromantix, Horrorpops, Creepshow, hope i've been some help. Peace buddy, keep it slick.

  • @romerozombie85 I agree!! my band are trying to bring it back. we'll never bring it back completely. but It's people like you who we need on board! see if you like our tunes on my channel

  • @romerozombie85 - Me too. I was in the 60's and my daughter loves this music as well and she was also born in the late 1998.

  • @romerozombie85 i sure dont. music was good but i like being able to walk to school without the threat of being lynched on every corner.

  • @romerozombie85 I was born in 1941-when all of this hit I was 15-great memories. We used to have 45 rpm players under the dash in our cars.Used to park in front of the radio station at night-they would let a few of us in at a time.KDON radio in Santa Cruz ,Calif. Frantic Fred was the DJ.great days.

  • @romerozombie85 Yo man, i agree! I'm in a band that's currently workin on bringin this stuff back. People don't realize that without this, we wouldn't have rock and roll.

  • @romerozombie85 and maby go to the vietnam war xD

  • @Frankeinstein127 never considered that

  • @Frankeinstein127

and ending up with heroin addiction and welfare yeehah

  • @romerozombie85

its fine to like what you like, but having a "Damn kids get off my lawn" mentality is making you old before you are supposed to be.

  • @romerozombie85 i understand i was born 1992 and i was i was born in the 50s days minus the extreme racism, music is going downhill today, majority of youngsters think they know what real music is and get offended when they dont know anything SMFH

  • @romerozombie85 agreed. that would be awesome. Glad I'm not the only one that thinks so.

  • @romerozombie85 I definately agree with you!!I was born in 1996 it sucks!!I WAS BORN IN THE WRONG ERA FOR SURE TOO!!:(

  • @romerozombie85 I was born back in 1996, I wish the for the same thing as you. Too bad the hip-hop cancer and rap is spreading and killing our society, on the plus side, 70's and 60's clothes are becoming mainstream now again due to it's "retro" stamp, so that's a little positive.

  • @romerozombie85

My grandfather was born in 1939 trust me not everything was great back then. You'd have to be a man, straight, white, wealthy and American to live the good life that we see then (not all the bad stuff) My grandfather told me for a long time people didn't have electricity, fridges, toilets in the house, toasters, microwaves, TVs or even affordable cars back then. Life was hard. I believe life for most people only started to get "good" after the late 60s.

  • @Gaznugget I think romerozombie86 means it in the context with music, not the complete life in that time!!

  • @5475lena

He means it in the "context" of music yeah, but also "the complete life in that time!!" as you put it because he didn't write simply that he loves 50s music did he? No he wrote more and wrote he wished he was born in 1938, enjoy his high school years, graduate in the past. So yeah, I think what I wrote was suitable for his comment. It was me who was putting it all into "context".

  • Way back in the 50's, songs had morals. For example, "Don't Be Cruel" teaches to not be Cruel, and "Shake Rattle and Roll" was about dancing, and working hard during the summer. But NOWADAYS! Music is about alcohols ("shots") drugs (blunt blowin) and sex (sexy and i know it) WHAT HAPPENED!?!?!??!?!?

  • I'd add La Bamba!

  • There are for sure 30 great songs here. If I were ranking the top 30 my list would probably be different but my list would change every day. I love the old music! Thanks for this great UL!

  • BBOOM YOU BLUE MY MIND

  • Elvis Presley's remake of Hound Dog was actually recorded in 1956 not 1952. The original recording was in 1952 by Willie Mae Thornton.

  • Yes a good collection of favorites, but I think your defination of what is rock is a lot broader than most people. But you get extra credit for remembering Eddie C.

  • elvis presely was the king for ever he was told not to shake to much . the first is usualy the best the rest are copy cats, plus elvis didnt have plastic surgery to his face

  • I can't believe you left out Jackie Wilson.

  • good stuff

  • Damn Black people never age! 1:24

  • and to think this was the hardest rock was back then. now look at it.

  • i watched this in my school choir today. it was so awesome!!!

  • What about Ray Charles?

  • JOHNNY B. GOODE

  • Where the fuck is Richie Valens, he was a legend. La Bamba, Oh Donna, Come on Let's Go, and Sleepwalk MOTHERFUCKER!!!!!!! At least one of them.

  • @grestoable this compilation is an opinion. if you want your favs you will probably have to post your own. i don't agree with all the choices either but still good music

  • @grestoable Sleepwalk was by Santo & Johnny... It does remind us all of the movie but it wasn't his song.

  • Folks,listen... we weren't born in the wrong decade (I'm 20 years old)

Now we have all the technology to go back to the past and walk along the '50, '60, '70 and 8'0

Now we can make Buddy Holly play with the Beatles or Led Zeppelin with Iron Maiden, for example

  • elvis was something else.....

  • Brilliant.

  • I like your mix. too bad it was too quiet, even with my volume and the youtube volume up all the way.

  • didnt u find a video of him singinf la bamba? u could put at least on a studio version

  • La bamba

  • According to this count down, women sucked in the 50's. Surely there's room for Connie Francis in there! Also, some of the songs sound almost identical.lol

  • Fuck Gaga, Bieber, swift, wayne, perry and minaj!!!!! they all suck major ass!

  • This video is every reason I wish I was born in the 50s or 40s sigh

  • Theres some good songs in this list but I'm sure Ritchie Valens and Dion and the Belmonts need to be in here

  • why was i born in this generation again?

  • čESKÁ TELEVIZE?? ct1

  • What a mess, where's Gene Vincent ??!!!!!

  • Love Buddy Holly! <3<3

  • where's richie at?

  • Richie Valens maybe but how is it even possible to leave Ricky Nelson out. Poor representation of the time period.

  • jesus, even in the 50s black people were better dancers than white guys. except elvis, but i think he got black legs caught in a white man's body!

  • Earth Angel <3 such a beautiful song. I think I like it a lot more due to the fact I was born on Earth Day, so i do feel like an earth angel lol

  • johhnny b goode!

  • walk the line... good movie

  • heck yea the songs awsome too.

  • i love 50s music!!!

  • Little Richard is the BEST

  • I wish music now days was as catchy as it was in the 1950s

  • that Elvis' Hound Dog single was year 1956 not 1952 =D

  • I love every single one of these songs, I was born in 1954, I remeMber some of them from the radio. BUT AS MUCH AS I LOVE CHUCK, Rock Around the clock should really be at the #1 spot, with Johnny B. Goode at #2! You know I am right! And Hound Dog at #3! And probably Long Tall Sally at #3. WHERE IN SAM HILL IS RITCHIE!? Lose The Platters!

  • Not only wasn't there any Richie Valens, he forgot to include Danny & The Juniors' At The Hop.

  • I LOVE BLACK PEOPLE they are so great

  • should say:

  • 7:06. When I was a junior in high school I tore ass into the school parking lot with that blaring out of the stereo when the school just had a fire drill. Teachers/students were all outside and they all just stared at me like Wtf?? Lol. Yeah, I'm just that badass. lol.

  • Love this music!!

  • best decade EVER !!!

  • Top 5 mabye.

  • These songs, though enjoyable, are not "rock."

  • @trei3000 you're right, they're either doo woop, or rock n roll.

  • Good but I do not like Elvis

  • SHOUT!

  • OH MY! THOSE GIRLS ARE SHOWING THEIR LEGS, HOW SCANDALOUS!

  • looks past times here The Raycats Rockabilly Rules

  • Just one from Johnny Cash!??!?!

  • @thatsleif1 this list is someones opinions. we all have our own list

  • I didnt see the mccoys, ritchie valens Why?

  • I was born in the wrong decade.

  • @MisterPainiac me to

  • Rock around the clock must be #1

  • where are the Coasters?

  • No Richie Valens? Poster, you blew it. Great job.

  • Johnny B goode is definitely the best song of the 50s

  • Yeah, you have many, but not most of the top 30 R'n'R songs ... but they are in the wrong order !!!

  • i wished these songs were recorded in the studios we have now. Like although the static & bad quality gives it that vintage feel, it would be incredible to hear these artists in HD 1080p!!!!

  • oh my god, elvis is soo cool!

  • In The Still Of The Night...best song!!

  • Is it just me or am I the only one that can sing along with ALL these wonderful songs?:D

  • I had it coming the johnny b goode was first jajaja no ritchie valens and little eddie cochran but great video man.

  • Would have liked much more Elvis! Also, you forgot Pat Boone and Ricky Nelson.

  • Are u Nuts Dude ?

Where is The King Ritchie Valens ?

    see u!

  • A lot of good bands here, but not all of it is rock.

  • modern music stinks

  • @bombardier561

This music sucks, you have no taste in songs

  • @bombardier561

yeah, but moderm music also sucks)

  • @inyazserg very true its shit i wish i was born in the 40s lol

  • @MrTeza123 Then, could you recommend your favourite music from 40s? Please)

  • @bombardier561 i like new and old music

  • I see Chuck Berry came in # 1 on this, yea, no surprise he was the greatest, more remakes of his music by more bands than anyone else in the rock and roll business. Made in America baby

  • Where is Ritchie valens

  • @Flipstar76 I WAS WONDERING THE SAME THING, RITCHIE VALENS SHOULD DEFFINATELY BEEN IN THE TOP 5 SONGS WITHOUT A DOUBT.

  • @Flipstar76 I WAS WONDERING THE SAME THING, VALENS WOULD DEFFINATELY MAKE TOP 5
