Also, I used gas steamer, it needed 20mins of steaming, after 5mins gas turned to medium. Also I used sugar instead of Jaggery, it turned out perfect !
Fantastic recipe, words cannot explain how easy you made making this dish. I tried it at home. One tip from my experience, just before kneading the "ukad" use 2 latex gloves on one hand, the "ukad" is hot and this does not hurt much ... also, I am not as skilled as you are to make the modak, so I made karanjya, they were easy to make and the taste was the same --- super awesome. Thank you again.
Me khup divsan pasun pahat hote karayche and ekda try hi kele pan jamale nahi...Microwave method ekdam sahi vatli...sopy n sutsutit...me try karen and nakki sangen kase jhale hote te...Thank you so much :)
wow ,what a way of making modhak in microwave...and the easy way of making mold is fabulous that me practicing this 4 a long time will do it soon ....and mrs.sudhakul can u tell me why the water is sprayed after it is done....
@me2meena if u don't spray water on cooked modak, modak will become chewe (in marathi we say 'chivat'). water spread over modak stops further cooking and maintains moisture in modak.
Buen Día, me gusto mucha esta receta pero quiero saber si puedo tener la lista de ingredientes para traducirla pues solo hablo español, y quiero hacerla, gracias
I loved modaks as a kid , but never knew how they were made ,thanks to your recipe I made few of them and they tasted great , though the shapes were not so much upto the mark
Hello Madam. I am from US. Made modaks on ganapati day...turned out to be good...I am very happy...I liked the way you steam the modaks in the microwave bcos there is no other way by which i can do that. I never thought that I will ever make modaks in US. I love U for everything that you have posted.Thank you so much dear. I was wondering if you can put a recipe for making Shankarpale & Rava ladoo so that I can try during Diwali. I am really grateful to you.
May be the rice floor is too old or even the type of the rice also effects. It should be sticky. You can try with another type of rice floor and Knead it in mixer or food processor (not with hands)
Thankyou.... You are a great asset to food lovers. Majhi aayi majhya jawal nahi but after watching your recepis.. I believe there is a saviour somewhere. Microwave cooking has always been my interest and you have definitely done justice to it.
the method is so simple, but i know the shapes comes with time.i was wondering,u never told how to make those colours.did u use artificial colour in the rice dough?thanks and will definately try.
Hello Sudha and thanks for the recipe. I was wondering, can you steam them in an electric rice cooker as well? Or some other way? I don't have a microwave steamer.
This video is awesome. This actually gave me the courage to try this recipe for Ganapati this year. I always thought making ukadiche modak was a very difficult task, somehow this video shows that it doesn't have to be that difficult :)
Wow look yummy!!! I love motak.. Im gonna try...

I don't have the steaming utensil for microvawe. If I have to use the gas steamer, how long should I steam?

who is this lady who is makin these? wat r the colord things that she put; blue, pink, & yello??
AnuAkh 2 years ago
Most likely she used food coloring in some of the mixture to make that individual one look awesome.
Not too sure though, assuming since there aren't that many blue foods that its just food dye.
