  • Carrie has been knocked for her songwriting, but I believe this next (4th) album will correct that. I think she will emerge with her best album in 2012. Looking forward to the tour and seeing Carrie back on the Grammy (and CMA) podiums.

  • wow.....they will add anyone now.....watch out...Justin Bieber is next.....Carrie Underpants...bleh

  • Carrie also said out of every award she has ever won, and out of her14 #1 hits, this is the one that means the most. she said it is all the others wrapped into one!! bless Carrie, what a voice and a beautiful person!!!!

  • 5:38 Her dad?

  • maybe taylor should write songs for carrie.

  • @cmoursler3 no way... all of tswifts songs are the same, jr high, twilight kinda love stories.... Carrie is more dynamic than that

  • @7Lexo Yeah, I was trying to be nice. lol.

  • @cmoursler3 lol.... in that case your right.... its hard for me to be nice about tswift anymore, she's so babied in country music as it is... that people neglect the lack of talent she has. Entertainer of the year?? Her voice and talent no way touches Martina, Sara Evans, or even Carrie, etc.... I'm not even a big Carrie fan either but girls got skill

  • @7Lexo I am a huge carrie fan. I was when she started, and she seems to be getting even better as she goes. I don't think she is a song writer, but as a voice...she is as good as any one just about ever. When I saw her sing 'Just a dream' I had a patsy cline moment. It's like she shifts gears and it goes from good to great. She inhabits her songs. I think she has staying power and I think she will a legend in time.

  • I think Taylor will become an Opry member for songwriting only. But that is a different category all together. I know she wants for singing, but is a real stretch. As I said Carrie didn't need any promtion, her vocals took to be a member and honor well deserved. She has proven it since why they wanted as a member.

  • Congrats Carrie!

  • I just realize that Opry almost knew that Carrie was going to be an Opry member, almost immediately after her Idol win. Which is unusually in way, but the fact that how impreesive Carrie won American Idol and how fast her first album sold and having all singles that were put went No. 1. And she broke all music records.

  • I'd like to point out that Carrie's talent can more than stand on its own merits, without the need for her fans to insult the work of another artist, who works just as hard, and has done just as much for this genre (in a different way). I came to this video to relive probably the greatest moment that Carrie's fans have ever had, not to see someone I love just as much get slandered. This kind of thing is almost typical on Carrie's videos these days, which I find sad.

  • Carrie is the "ONLY" Opry member to represent the Opry when on tour. She did so in 2010 on the Play On tour. She also represented Randy Travis at the same time for the song "I Told You So". And Carrie unlike Taylor, has never asked for votes at fan voted shows.

  • @LuvCUTS Carrie is also not nearly as involved in social media, and therefore does not have those opportunities to self-promote. I would rather see an artist promote themselves until they are blue in the face (an extreme to which Taylor does not go) than hear it from their label. For the record, I mean no disrespect whatsoever to Carrie in saying this.

  • @horrorfan13666 I suggest you you investigate what's being said before you blabber your mouth with cr*p thank you :)

  • When you say "investigate what's being said",do you mean what YOU'RE saying,or what Carrie/Taylor are saying?I'm only disputing your last sentence, and I believe my point is valid. If you mean the latter,I follow both artists closely, and know for a fact that Taylor has more channels for self-promotion than Carrie(twitter, video blogs, etc - compared only to Carrie's blog on her fan club page). Also,I stand by my views on self-promotion.Fyi,not trying to start a fight here, just a friendly debate :)

  • @93jbeck Taylor will be inducted? When? She has been around just as long as Carrie and sell more albums than Carrie. Carrie not paid her dues? According to what rule book? Carrie almost had a record contract when she was 14. She sang in bars, had a band and could "sing" when she was 13. I have her 3 albums from back then. But since you "never" investigated to see if she ever paid her dues BS, please stop posting crap about Carrie. Carrie will be a legend in country music.

  • @LuvCUTS Carrie had nothing to do with getting into Grand Ole Opry as a member. The veteran members of the Opry decide who gets in and who doesn't. And if you watch Carrie was complete caught-off guard when Randy Travis surprise with invitation to be a opry member.

  • @row759 I know. I've seen the whole video on the invite that they don't allow to be seen on here.

  • @LuvCUTS that's when people why Taylor isn't an Opry member, she can do all the promoting she wants to be an Opry member and it won't help. Veterans will decide when and "if" they want as member. I think sometimes all Taylor wanting to be a member actually is hurting that chance. Vets aren't too thrill with self-promotion.

  • @93jbeck Taylor Swift came into it the old fashion way? Are you kidding me!!!! I don't think she took the last bit of her money and took a bus to nashville and worked in some dump just to make money to sing somewhere at night hoping someday she would get noticed. She is a studio singer, which means she has a good producer that can make her sound good on cd but listen to her live performances and she doesn't sound the same.

  • Not hating on Taylor, but she's played the Opry, what? 2 or 3 times? She'll need to show a lot more love and respect for the Opry before they ever consider inviting her to be a member, no matter how successful she is.

Carrie finds time to play at the Opry no matter what. She played 5 shows there last year, in b/w getting married and touring over 100 cities. I'll need Taylor to show the same kind of love and respect to the organization before I'll ever be okay with a possible induction of her.

  • mmm mmm What a good man. He even took off his hat! I love Garth and Carrie!!

  • taylor swift is realy a pop artist-she is realy sweet, and thats all-shes not a country-carris iss real and traditional-right she can go the way to next dolly ,my fav girl is sara evans

  • I heard from someone. Who heared from someone. (3rd hand infromation). That Trisha Yearwood is related to Carrie Underwood.

  • This is a great day too be an Okie!!!!!!!!!

  • Carrie deserved that chance, she has an amazing voice, grace, and talent

  • I did like the duet with her and randy travis

  • Now someone tell me why George Strait hasn't been inducted?

  • Carrie got in solely because Gaylord Entertainment was wanting to cash in on her teenybopper fans who'd con their parents into taking them to the Grand Old Olpy and Opryland to see her ... and spend all kinds of money in Nashville ...

I don't like Carrie or Taylor Swift ... But, at least Taylor writes her own music and was on George Strait's tour ... He only invites those he thinks are talented ...

  • Ahh!! I'm so proud of her :):) Just to see all that she has accomplished since her time on Idol just blows me away :):) Pay no mind to the haters Carrie, you most DEFIANTLY have earned it :):)

  • Taylor Swift gets in and Hank Sr. is still out?

    FUCK THE GRAND OLE OPRY.

  • Taylor swift sucks... Sure she is a good song WRITER, but she can not sing at all.... Shes not even country-- Shes more pop than anything... She just sucks.

Carrie Underwood is amazing though... She is what country is about! The way she is going now, she will be the next Martina McBride, Reba, Dolly Parton.. She will make country music history-- No matter what happens

  • @ILoveMcDreamy123 she has already made country music history.lol

  • @ILoveMcDreamy123 i agree. taylr cant sing for shiz and i can't believe the opry let her in

  • @ILoveMcDreamy123 As much as I love Carrie, I want to point out that Taylor Swift is just as good as any female singer. Country or not she is a diligent singer and song writer. In case you haven't noticed Carrie falls under the pop category too. Do your research.

  • carrie underwood is the best!!! Taylor swift cannot sing like carrie and carrie has won so many awards. way to go carrie

  • its not just your songs its the whole package a diamond thats what you are

  • BTW, Carrie has co written and received awards for those number one songs on her most recent two albums. As far as her Okie accent, her journalism degree is probably responsible for thar. Her vocal talent is spectacular. Taylor has many hits that the Tweens love, but has little vocal range nor little appeal to different generations. Carrie fulfills her obligation to the Oprey and performs there regularly.

  • Impact-wise, Taylor Swift takes the cake. She's a worldwide teen phenomenon. Carrie has her own place in country music.

  • my balls itch,

  • Inspirational

  • Carrie is the most inspiration in Country Music today. She is a wonderful person with a big heart and is somebody to look up to as a mentor!!!! She has the most beautiful voice!!!

  • Too bad Carrie 'went Hollywood' and took steps to lose her Okie accent, right, gang?

  • @dolphinedick Yeah? What have you done lately?

  • @dolphinedick no she's not just because you may or may not be able doesn't matter it's the fact that people who can sing and are in the country music industry say kix brooks and ronnie dunn for or even martina mcbride or even king gorge or george jones and randy travis thinks she can sing then you know she can.

  • Wouldn't that suck if he dropped it and broke it before he gave it to her? lol

  • I love her singing this song. It makes me cry everytime i hear it!

  • Keep making Oklahoma Proud Carrie!!!! LOVE Garth too!!!!

  • @mike2021247 I guess something has to make Oklahoma proud.

    I'm sorry I couldn't help my self.

  • @trevP1867 MmmmmHmmmm LOL! ;-P

  • If SHANIA TWAIN is not a member, then this whole thing is a joke. THE BEST SELLING COUNTRY ARTIST OF ALL TIME! not garth brooks! get the facts straight yo!

  • @hkdluis Brooks has sold more than 150Million albums, Shania isnt even close to that

  • @backrubs62 Yup, there's a reason they had Garth Brooks act as her inductor. They believe she will one day be the greatest selling female country music singer in history.

  • @hkdluis Shania had the best selling country album of all time , that doesn't make her the single best selling country artist of all time. Carrie spends her career promoting country songs and performing on country stages, Shania spent her career trying to cross over into pop. That's why Carrie was inducted and Shania wasn't , Shania is known as a singer , Carrie is known as a country singer, and if she continues to sell the way she does she'll be known as one of the greatest of all time.

  • FUCK THE OPRY. THERE LETTING ANYONE IN.

  • @TheJoelef

Carrie Underwood isn't just anybody! She's the greatest the queen of Country. If the Opry let just anybody in Taylor would be a member. Oh but wait that's not going to happen because Taylor can't carry a tune!!!

  • I thought you had to be a living legend or a someone who has made a huge impact to country music to be a Grand Ole Opry member. This kind of brings the significance of the other members down when any willy nilly person who's only been in the music business for a few years can become a member. I guess the opry ain't what it used to be.

  • @martha5322 , Carrie has made a huge impact on country music. What country music artists due is drawn people to music genre of country music, which is what she is doing. When people who normally don't listen to country music, listen to her, decided to stay in country music. Besides the members are the ones who vote artists in. Carrie didn't even promote herself to be voted in there. That's why when Randy Travis invited her, it was totally shocked.

  • @martha5322 just to add to what @row759 said, while it is true that many of the members are living legends that have made huge impacts in country music, you have to consider that they weren't necessarily that when they were inducted (with a few exceptions). Most were young, rising stars who were starting to make an impact in a big way - just like Carrie - and the years made them legends. I guarantee that in 30 years, the next generation will look at Carrie as one of those legends.

  • GO SOONERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @jonnyu2 You're thinking of Kelly Pickler.

  • @aliascodec OMG. I stand corrected! Thank you. I removed my pointless comment.

I actually thought they were the same person!

  • There is a reason why GARTH BROOKS, the greatest country artist of all time, was the one asked to give her the membership. Sad to say, she did not deserve it.

  • @asdfkie You and the other 2 out of a million! Why are you on Carrie's video's?? This is about her not you loser!

  • @IdolofCarrie haha carrie's video's?? technically, this is garth brook's video.

  • quit fighting let's just agree on Taylor and carrie both suck and should take There talents to Hollywood and leave good ole Nashville alone

  • The Grand ole Opry aint so Grand anymore

  • Carrie is talented but she's not really country and why the hell she a member and Hank jr isn't? that's rediculous. and miranda lambert should've become a member before carrie

  • I would love to hear a duet with Carrie and Garth Brooks.

  • I love how the crowd responds to Garth Brooks!!!

  • i like it because garth brooks intro carry,

  • Carrie is 100% better then that ole taylor.. anyday!!!!

  • @michellepostell and my girl friend is hotter than you. oh, and she is rich.

  • @MalibuRockstar1 LMMFAO!!!!! Ok... whatever you say... I know the facts, and you must be dreaming......A NIGHTMARE!

  • Carrie Underwood is phenominal in my eyes. Having met her in person she gave me the impression she is the sweetheart she appears to be. Someone I feel priviliged to have met and am honored to have my daughter look up to her. The world could use many more Carrie Underwoods in my opinion. Thank you Carrie for being someone not just my daughter but young ladies in general can look up to. I hope you are around as long as Reba has been.

  • haha Im so silly, I told my boyfriend I liked the taste of it and he started laughing

  • Great when is Miranda Lanbert gonna be a member

  • There is a reason why Carrie is a member of the Opry and Taylor Swift is NOT. It's clear to see and hear. Carrie Underwood is the greatest EVER!!!

  • @75DrummerBoy you are an idiot. they are two different people with two different talents.

  • @75DrummerBoy

that and Carrie can sing...Taylor is flatter than hell on stage, ugh. The crimes of ProTools and auto tuning...

  • @75DrummerBoy and Carrie Underwood actually sings Country music. Taylor DOES NOT

  • @75DrummerBoy lolno

  • @75DrummerBoy The reasons is because the grand ole' opry will suck the life blood out of you. You're obligated to do a certain number of shows every year and a lot of crap. A lot of people don't want that --it's not a judge of how good you are though. I'm sure taylor has had the option. At least taylor writes and plays her songs....

  • @75DrummerBoy Actually, why would Taylor Swift be an Opry member? She ain't country.

  • @75DrummerBoy- Greatest ever???? While I agree she is a phenominal talent, putting her ahead of such luminaries as Loretta Lynn, Kitty Wells, Patsy Kline, just to name a few..... I would have to respectfully disagree with you on this point

  • @75DrummerBoy You are right about Taylor Swift has one range BAD

  • his name is mike fisher

  • Pete Fisher is a fagot!

  • she not a country singer at all . pop rock maybe .

  • @chadmcpeek your an idiot

  • @chadmcpeek Your right, she's not a country singer....SHE'S A TRUE COUNTRY SINGER!!!!

Why don't you haters take your hate somewhere else!

I saw this live on TV that day and it was truly a special day...good for Carrie and everything she's accomplished! : )

What have you accomplished so far, huh???

  • @chadmcpeek Your right. She's not Country.. She's Rock Country. :]

  • @chadmcpeek and Nirvana sucked 'cause they did not sound like the Beatles.

  • "This is a marriage. It's tough stuff." Absolutely right. You are now OWNED by the illuminati. Hope it was worth it girl...

  • not my favourite singer but she desurvis it

  • Carrie Underwood is best female singer ever!

  • Carrie Underwood is best country music female singer ever.

  • Long live the Opry and good to see Garth!!

  • Long live the Opry! And good to see Garth!

  • This was just part of Nashville's ploy to make "country" a crossover success. Pushing real country artists to the backburner, and having acts like Taylor Swift and Bon Jovi be called the new country, by adding a fiddle to their pop songs. It's a shame...Carrie Underwood wins American Idol and somehow ends up in the Opry? questionable.

  • @Quikfingers shut up! god

  • @APRIL62318 No? Who are you?

  • Carrie Underwood is way better then Taylor Swift why cuz she dis not sing love song after love after love song

  • @THEWWEBOSSMAN Agree 100% !!!!! Carrie is 100% better then taylor...

  • @michellepostell Thanks for agreeing with me unlike MaliduRockstar1 how thinks am igonrant but it takes one to know one

  • @THEWWEBOSSMAN you are ignorant too.

  • @MalibuRockstar1 am sorry you feel that way

  • @MalibuRockstar1 Really I am ignorant? MalibuRockstar really then why do 21 ppl agree with my? next time you say somthing like that you have to have ppi that can back you up on it like I do

  • @THEWWEBOSSMAN And she has a much better voice!!

  • @NEJShania Oh ya

  • @THEWWEBOSSMAN Excuse me??

  • @THEWWEBOSSMAN I couldn't agree more.

  • @GearHead156 then u cant listen to her. i think maybe your ears dont work

  • @bjonno pardon me??? Im pretty sure they do work pal! I grew up with county, i play in two country bands.. I know EXACTLY what country is and this girl aint nothin but a pop singer. Nothing wrong with that at all, i love all kindes of music.. but i get pissed off when people consider singers such as Carrie are country. Pretty soon they will be adding a fiddle to Rihanna's music and callin her friggin country. Murder truly has been commited on music row.

  • @GearHead156

And yet Carrie is a famous Country artist and you are not. I wonder who knows more?

  • @s77920 shes not a country artist. I dont do it for the money or fame. I do it for the fun you retard.

  • @GearHead156 She is contemporary country and not traditional, but still country. People who favor traditional country have a harder time accepting this form as being truly in the country genre, but I as well as all the people putting her at the top of the charts, and now the Grand Ole Opry agree she is country. I dont believe in dicounting her style and putting her in a pop catagory because she is not traditional. Her voice is country, her style a mix, but thats ok if you like her style.

  • @GearHead156 Well go hang yourself then. Hopefuly Taylor Swift, Lady A and Sugarland will sve you!

  • @clpnyc Wow. that was hilarious. Hmmm.. SVE?

  • @GearHead156, I guess you don't know who invites country artists into the Opry Membership. They are country veterans, who are also members of the Opry, like Randy, Dolly, and other veterans like those. And they agree that Carrie is pure traditional country.

  • It is so awesome to see History made right in front of you. This young lady deserves all the blessings the Lord will bestow on her. She will do herself and the Opry proud !

  • carrie underwood is just heaven

  • @AdamNCarrie91 , wrong, just the opposite, that was Garth Brooks not Randy Travis inducting her to Grand Ole Opry. Randy just invite her to becoming a member.

  • Eat you're heart out Taylor Swift!!!!

  • @AdamNCarrie91 , Garth Brooks inducted Carrie into the Grand Ole Opry. Randy surprised by inviting her into Grand Ole Opry.

  • Totally where she belongs. Not to take away from those before her but she is definately one of the best women to grace the Grand Old Opry and country music all together. To say she has an angelic voice is an understatement.

  • WHO IN THE HELL ARE THE 13 THAT DON'T LIKE THIS !!!!

  • @clpnyc Me.

  • WHAT AN HONOR to be inducted by a fellow Oklahoman like Garth Brooks!!! Congratulation, Carrie!!! You SOOOOOO deserve this!!!

  • i hurd carrie underwood is kind of an ass in person... but i don't mind her... she'll never be my fav. country artist... there are def. better up and comming singers then her... such as Laura bell bundy and Miranda Lambert is way better. but she does her thing... as far as Taylor swift... i can't stand her music!

  • Comment removed

  • @clpnyc well i was just saying thats what i hurd from a guy who met her... i don't know her sooo i guess i don't know. In my opion Laura Bell and Miranda are more my type of country music i just perfur a raw sounding non typical country... again thats my opinion... it was an opnion... thats all... i think carrie underwood is a fantastic singer just not my taste... i think im allowed to have and voice my opion... thats why i live in the good old USA.

  • @Jesgar02 no harm done.

  • @Jesgar02 Laura Bell Bundy suxs, shes not Country shes just another Jessica Simpson, she wont last & i know for a fact that Carries a very nice person, dont believe what ppl tell u, shes awesome in may different ways, but i do agree with u on Miranda Lambert....But Garth is awesome...what an honor to be inducted in the Opry by Garth, the 2nd best artist to ever play country music,, next to George Strait of course
