The piano parks iteself right in front of the bulletin board, limiting the board's usefulness. And seeing the desks glide in like that reminds me of Daleks.
Man, classrooms don't really look that anymore. In most of my elementary school classrooms, the desks were grouped like little islands around the room.
I like these clips. I haven't seen a lot of them in so many years. Thank you for uploading. They really need to have a channel on cable (like Noggin used to) to broadcast these old eps in their entirety. That "Old School" DVD collection isnt' going to cut it.
This has a tune that sort of reminds me of a band from Ohio in the late 70's and early 80's - Devo! When I saw this in the 1970's, I didn't follow popular music, but now for some reason I make the association based on several Devo Songs I have heard. Again, just my opinion.
I saw this in a 1990 episode where, just like here, they ran it right before cutting back to the Street story. That juxtaposition is very surreal--here's this ancient, grainy, weird-colored fantasy with jerky motion, shot on film with an odd room tone on the sound track, suddenly cutting to the Street, shot on clear video, moving in real time, with a different room tone, realistic color, etc.
It's like two different planets, or versions of reality.
Sometimes when I was bored in school, I'd imagine the furniture coming to life when the school closed. Then the teacher would yell at me to pay attention. It's all Sesame Street's fault!
I had forgotten about this one! Thanks for posting it. I love stop action films. When I was kid, I used to think that the stuff really moved on it's own. ;)

This video always freaked me out as a kid. Maybe, like you said, because it's like Daleks moving about.

That's right - they should do that! Imagine - Sesame Street 24 hours a day and we'll get to see ALL of the clips from that era (I HOPE)!

Anyone remember that school film with that teacher who leaves the room and the kids start drawing on the board and what they draw comes to life?

How do you know the school itself isn't older than that?
MIKECNW 5 years ago
This is looks like a movie set, I've always been impressed with stop motion and this one gives a good idea of how a 70's classroom looked.

I wonder if that school was bran new at the time the fil was made or did they literally move out everything for the film?
