  • Not bad

  • lamo now the start button in windows 7 is just like that one, and everyone thought that was new in winodws visa............

  • lol file cabinet

  • @WildAbra That is the Chicago's Windows Explorer!

  • its funny how the start button and the width of the tasks are the same as win7

  • Wow, that's amazing. I had no idea they started work on Win95 that early. Heck I don't know if even Win 3.11 was out yet?

People were still on Windows 3.1, and that's if they used Windows at all. Half the PC population still preferred DOS back then.

  • Ha! at 3:04, "Insert Windows for Workgroups Disk #3 with the file largdut.dll"

    a) I remember WIndows for Workgroups, it was horrible :)

    b) OK so the average computer user is going to read this message? "Oh, I see. They want the disk with largdut.dll. That narrows it down for me!?"

  • So this is a full two years before the release version?

  • he i386dx vet cool filmpje ik heb je 5 sterren gegeven!

  • interesting that chicago and vista have something in common. they both use a windows logo as the "start menu" button

  • @msz1

    they both use the superbar

  • Windows 95 Under Construction

  • Both products are rip off of Xerox

  • @MachineSociety And Xerox ripped off Douglas Englebart too

  • @m9078jk3 Yes but one obscure genius never accounted for anything. It's all the tinkerers and pygmy "intellectuals" who follow in their footsteps who get all the recognition. The true genius must be satisfied with having realized the vision in the first place. He can realistically expect no compensation. (Which is not to say he is entitled none, just that he cannot realistically expect it. The products of genius require a gift in-kind to be reciprocated and they are equally rare and precious.)

  • freaky.. lol

  • This early build of Win95 is so obviously a clone of MacOS 7 (1991) that it's pathetic. Although the Finder menu has been moved from top to bottom of screen, it's still the same functionality.

  • it looks funny when the program maximized from the task bar below..!

  • No it isn't!

This is really version 4.00.58 of Windows (which is an early development version of Windows 95).

  • Only n00bs have problems with Windows!

    IT'S FUCKING FINE!!!!

  • Windows XP = Windows 2000 (Windows Powered) with nice themies, Windows 2000 sucks to XP because it's networking and compatibility are terrible, unless you run it on a clapped out P3, but even then it's still slow, All beats Windows Vista and Windows 7 tho, Win Vista = Crap Win 7 M3 = Crap

  • My Vista and Windows 7 installs run fine. Are you stupid, or just running it on your P3?

  • I dont knowe what version we are up to, last one i ran was M3 of win 7 so i dont know how any after that work.

Milestone 3 did not work very well on my Pentium D system at all, and i wouldnt even try it on a P3.

I also felt the memory usage was way too high in that version of windows 7.

  • come video sembra molto interessante ma mancha l'audio. Qualcuno sa dove trovare delle immagini iso di Microsoft Chicago

  • huh!

  • To exit programs i think use Alt + F4 (orl that left arrow and Exit) or something...

  • Where did you find that?

  • Can you send Virtual PC 2007 virtual machine for this because it is impossible to install, i give the reasons: 1. when i try to run it when i was booted from windows 98 bootdisk, it don't open with message: This program requires Windows 2. when i click Yes or No on Plus! pac components part, i get: Exiting with error code

Plz send me virtual machine of Chicago 58s

  • the same problem. pls help

  • how did you close programs?

  • Doubleclick on the icon at the left in the menubar. I'm pretty sure this still works in Vista... (it does in Win2k3)

  • After 3:26 the window "metrics" settings still can be found even in xp, but only in the registry, not from any menu or control panel.

  • Truly free windows and element resizing would be cool in windows 7 IF they implement it

  • what do you mean?

  • He probably means a GUI of which all elements could be created, resized, moved, changed, or deleted. Fully customizable GUI.

  • It's 32 bits! (Win32s)

  • I kno a web site tht can giv u a pre-installed version of this build, I posted it up in my comments on my profile. Just drag the folder in My Virtual Machines under My Documents. (Must have Virtual PC installed!)

  • what site, plz tell me

  • Looks like a 99% WFW 3.11 yet, but it is 32 bits already??

  • No, it's 16-bit.

  • What's really cool is you see a lot of features here that resemble quicklaunch and just the active desktop in general... then they dropped that idea in the final release, then brought it back again for 98... then dropped it in XP and Vista!

  • Wow, what an amazing looking build of that system. And to think it was that far advanced in 1993! Amazing.

  • with my iso under virtual pc it dosent work

  • Looks hot. When is this coming out? Can't wait to try it!

  • try 1993!

  • @belowgroundsurface It's a prototype for Windows 95! Gosh I hate idiots....

  • Chicago text with the windows logo screensaver lol

  • woot i have this as well! btw create a blank text file and save as network.drv in the chicago dir to get rid of the annoying network.drv not found box :P

  • Do you have any reliable sources for download that you may wish to share with us? :)

  • i got it from bittorrent but it was soooo slow took over a day for it lol less than 1kb/s :D

  • I need a beta site ID to install Chicago, please provide me with one

  • no se parece a 3.11

  • digamos que es el windows 95 beta

  • estaría entre un 3.1 y 95

  • Whereabouts can you get this? I'd love to try it out.

  • Looking at versions of Software at development after seeing the final product is an interesing experience. Boy, that File Manager look EXACTLY like that of Windows 3.1 instead of the Windows Explorer of W95/98/ME/XP that everyone knows...
