  • Now THAT is dirt! Black as coal. I have tried to convince my Alabama friends what real soil is like, not that red clay crap they have.

  • @sixstringfretter We do have a lot of red clay, I'll give you that.

  • @DieselMechanic09 Which part you from?

  • @sixstringfretter RoLLL Tide country

  • Wow! Gorgeous!

  • What pretty soil.

  • I think farmers are cool. Thanks for making all the food guys!

  • @TheWizzooo Unfortunately corn is not food...ecept for sweet corn which is not usually what is farmed. Cows are meant to eat grass not corn.

  • @JamesTyreeII

Shut the fuck up w/ your liberal, food dictator bullshit. I know cows eat grass. Corn is still food. now go watch some more documentaries so you can keep spouting bullshit off.

  • @TheWizzooo You shut the fuck up with your conservative lying sack of crap mouth. Go listen to more lie you brainwashed dumbass! SCREW you! How DARE you reply to me like that. Shithead.

  • The older "Johnny Poppers" will out pull the "New Generation" tractors, ie., 4020's, any day. It's in the gearing and the torque that the 2 cylinders put out. Same is true when compared to the newer tractors of today. With them, compare weight ratio's and torque. The good 'Ol 2 lunger will win every time. Besides, why waste fuel with a larger engine when you can still get the job done with only 2!! Cheers!! :)

  • @TsmnnDvl5 Sure but at what speed?

  • @flanksteak2 thats right a 4430 willl pull this and save alot more full and at a faster speed to the old deeres had a hole in the tank lol

  • Thanks TaylorTownMayor. I remember very distintly it was a green dash 820. Although I never pulled a plow with one, I remember that my relatives only pulled 4 16's. I don' know whether this model would handle a 5 bottom or not. This 830 in the video is handling this 5 bottom very well. They had this model & also they pulled 4 bottom with a 730, & it seemed to handle it pretty well. The only thing I pulled was a 14 foot offset disc. That was a big load for that tractor.

  • I put in a couple of summers on an 820 when I was about 15-16 years old for a relative of mine. What was the difference between the 820 & 830? I am guessing that they are the same tractor except the 830 had a higher horsepower rating at the drawbar. I am not sure how John Deere rated them in the 1950's.

  • @HappyChristian101 Depends on which type of 820 you were using. A green dash 820 is basically an 80 both rated at 67 hp on the belt, a black dash 820 has more hp and is basically the same as an 830, both rated 75hp belt. The change was mostly in the head/injectors and pump. Deere redesigned the injectors and head due to higher cyl pressures causing gasses to leak past the copper sealing washer at the base of the 80 style injector when they tried to raise power levels. All are great tractors tho!

  • Man that is some good looking rich mother earth you're turning over there. America's breadbasket. Gotta love it!

  • Must be in 4th! Couldn't hear much grunt as the plows were lowered so I'm sure you could handle a couple more bottoms on that rig.

  • Mate I can only say one thing about this video. Looks like its time to put the winter side curtains on that beautiful beast!

  • How fast are you going in this video? I remember plowing as a young man here in Kansas and we struggled to pull a 4-14 plow at about 5 mph with a 4020 JD. The 4020 has to have more HP than a 830. I realize the soils in different areas plow differently. Maybe your only going about 4 mph so the tractor could easily pull the 5 bottom plow.

  • @jti2007 always wondered the same thing. got a 4020 diesel and 730 diesel and the 730 will put the 4020 to shame plowing with only a single set of wheel weights and the 4020 has a full set up front and 3 on each wheel.you can tell when you hit a rock while running our 10 foot chisel with the 4020 it stops in its tracks. the 730 lets out a little bigger puff of smoke and keeps goin. i think it has alot to do with the long stroke of the big 2's. more piston speed more inertia

  • Dont even sound like a Two cylinder...only bad thing about those 830's...and the fact they didnt come in row crop.

  • nice video love seeing the old work horses being used, keep up the good work!

  • There sure is good Rich Soil in Iowa and looks like you had a long ways to go and very long with that old plow and tractor.

  • Nice set up, clean machine and plow.
