@kevpher Time outs should be as short as possible so you can get in plenty of repetitions, but long enough to be punishing. We want the event to be POTENT enough to discourage future infractions. Timeouts are usually no longer than a minute or two.

how long is time out? When i did that with my dog,he was in there all day. i brought him out of his kennel and he immediately jumped on me. We are having trouble with him biting too. time for the muzzle til he learns that we r not chew toys.

@TheAstroble Time Outs (Reward Removal) are short in duration. 1 - 2 minutes. Dogs jump. It happens all the time. Teach and reward the sit heavily. Also, you must teach him to direct his mouthing/biting onto appropriate objects, like dog toys. Good luck!

Dogs do not generalize very well it would be far better to put him away for 10-20 seconds, then if he jumps again the same over and over again in a whole day you could get a hundred trials rather than one!! thats 6 trials in one minute!!! he jumps up,bites etc he goes goes in his crate for ten seconds (personally i would not use a crate as a punishment because this should be some where he likes to go. if you are his reward then remove your self from the room this works!

@MrJiujitsujames Putting him in the crate is not punishing. Removal from contact is punishing. At least in theory. Yes, multiple repetitions help. Good luck!
