The rest of what remains is related to English, which is becoming more important in the development of the Maltese language in recent times.

Well, I'm rather disgusted by the racist comments here. I would say though to the immigrants, that they are getting a pretty good offer to leave. Most places just kick you out, with no money. At least this way, you have a little bit of money to take back to your family and perhaps start a business or find a way to to come to another country legally. I have to wonder why anyone would try to go to Malta in the first place anyway, since it's so small. I hope this plan works though.

@theyeyeye Yeah, sure, they do purchase goods and services! The thing is that they do this using the money they are given by the State since the vast majority don't have jobs! This money is collected from the Maltese taxpayers' salaries! The conclusion is that they do virtually nothing to contribute towards the State's net wealth since they simply use the money earned by the Maltese workers. The Maltese people could have spent the money themselves to help contribute towards the nation's wealth!

So the bottom line is that they DO NOT contribute towards a wealthier MALTESE State because they are only ''feeding off'' the salaries earned by Maltese workers.
