The first time I played this game it was of no manual whatsoever and I had absolutely no idea what Miguel was capable of. This song played as he ended my entire team's life with one attack. As if the music wasn't tear-jerking enough, he gave my entire team a funeral to go along with it using ease and grace.
It's safe to assume that I was in a fetal position in a corner drenched with fear of even trying to face him again.
Needless to say, his current attempts are futile now that I'm more aware.
Ah...the atmoshpere...Fighting on the top of the ruins of the castle from CT.You can see the bell that brings back all these memories...And then it strikes you..You just killed Chrono..
Chrono Cross is one of the saddest, thought evoking video games ever made, and the soundtrack by Yasunori Mitsuda enhances it tenfold. And yes I love Chrono Trigger and I've beaten it like ten times, doesn't stop me from loving this game.
Chrono Cross MIGHT have been the perfect game, if it was not the nihilistic End of Evangelion-esque rendering of one of the best RPGs of all time. The game is fun to play, but it's just a lot of peeing in the face of CT fans, and most of its story doesn't even make sense in retrospect.
@Elusareth The story makes perfect sense, when you take a step back and look at everything that happens. Not just "Well this happens after Chrono Trigger."
omg i remember facing you Miguel....I remember how i lost to you like 10 times..but this song...this song kept me cool, because i usually yell at my t.v when a boss keeps killing me..but this song was playing and it kept me relaxed.
Most frustrating boss battle ever. I hear this music, and in my mind I'm fifteen years old again, up at 2 in the morning on a school night screaming at my television because Miguel won't fucking die. Now I know how a war vet feels.
Beautiful song, though. It's nice hearing it without the sound of Miguel curbstomping me in the background.
i think i have finally heard this piece the way it is meant to be heard with all the backing instruments all at once.............. i should've bought these headphones a long time ago...... time to relisten to all the songs i love again =D
The first time I played it, I got stuck on Miguel. I didn't have internet and stuff back then so I couldn't get help. And I was mad that I couldn't get back to the world map and go places so I just restart the whole game.
From what I was reading, though I don't remember if it was official or not, Chrono had to go into hiding after the siege on the castle, and somewhere along the lines became Miguel. Don't know if there's any truth too it, but as he's one of the hardest characters in the game uses the holy dragon sword which is shaped like a katana and I believe uses one of chronos special moves, I'd like to think so.
@Joygazsm Wishful thinking, mate... All the Chrono Trigger-kids are dead. In fact, they're not just dead - their entire timeline was destroyed so hard it never even happened.
".. being alive just means that yuo are frickinly closer to death"
When Miguel said that line, I was "crap, if I think about it, hes right, he beated me even before satrating the batle" then he beat the crap out of me whit his dragon holy sword... one of the greatest boss in ANY game.
ever sicne i got back into Chrono Cross, i was addicted to this song, it kept playing in my head for some reason (in fact it was this song that got me re-addicted to Chrono Cross XD)
but i have to say i just LOVE this song, to me...sounds like one of those songs that are sad, yet seem to have some kind of hope in it
Most beautiful song any game as ever had. Best soundtrack a game could ever have too. Yasunori Mitsuda could pretty damn well top Nobuo Uematsu. First having to face Wazuki's best friend, then having to kill Dario, this music sets the mood perfectly for both fights. ;_; <3
"People are brought into this world, perhaps by God, or evolution. Made to make the best out of that which is allotted them. They are thrust into a game, forced to play, their lives on the line. Made to play a game to which they don't even know the rules. The only alternative is to give up, quit, leave the playing field... To forfeit. That is our only real choice; Play or forfeit."
Man this is a song you'd hear in your mind when something tragic has happened like losing someone real close to you. Something played at a funeral or something.. :(
yea i would say the name. the difference is aeris's song dealt with her death while cc song had a much greater effect because u saw not only the heros from ct dead but an whole era that was lost. again sry if this doesnt seem to make sense. sounds better in my head.
Anybody else not give a shit about the Miguel fight? It sort of came out of nowhere.
