@PlanetNeptuneLover It's so low fat that it's excellent for your health. To make it taste and cook more like beef, I mix ground venison with ground beef half and half. The fat from the beef helps keep it from burning when cooking.

The deer tastes a bit gamey, but it's good. No, we are not saving the bones. My father in law just threw the skeleton off the back porch before the blizzard and we haven't tossed it in the woods for the coyotes yet. Though my husband is keeping the antlers as a deer call. You just hit them together and the other deer think it's a fight, so a buck will come around to show he's boss.

I don't want everyone to feel bad for the little Bambi. They are so overcrowded here that they kill more people by being hit on the highway than drunk drivers. They are VERY prolific here and there are all kinds of rules about when and what kind you can kill. No one would actually try to kill a baby Bambi. That would just be pointless. We don't hang heads on the wall, we only hunt them for food. Sorry if this offends city dwelers.

I just name the deer so I know which bag of meat comes from which deer. I date them the same if we have more than one. No, I don't feel bad about eating them. They don't feel bad about eating the apples, peaches, and pears from my orchard or my tulips and lilies from my flower beds.

I don't really know much about deers myself actually, I've never seen one. I also didn't know they go close enough to people's houses to cause damage.

I just thought one gets attached to the animals after naming them but using the name as a tag is actually genious :D
