  • seems like yesterday, I was 19yrs old, my first gig and a giant one at that,, im 38 now and remember it fondly with all the people i went with, thanx for posting:)

  • Ich war dabei, was für ein Erlebnis, träume bis heute davon.

Die Band, die Kulisse, das Land !!!!!!

  • Best concert I was ever at! All dayer topped by the mighty Runrig!! Shine on! Best vocalist on the Planet...Listen for the note held for an extra second or two by backin singer Lorna Bannon.(6.17).. Geez ya goose bumps... Brilliant...

  • Best concert I was ever at! All dayer topped by the mighty Runrig!! Shine on!

  • i fuckin luv this song

  • I was there..along with a few thousand others LOL

  • never get tired of listening to this song been a fan of runrig for years, Malcolm is a fantastic guitar player, no doubt though Donnie is the best on vocals.

  • what a band live, easily one of the very best .What a day this was awesome atmosphere :):) can't remember getting home tho !!!

  • I was at that concert on the second day, One of the best days of my life! I agree with selectxz. Donnie was the best!

  • i love RUNRIG... the song is lovely... for heart and soul...GREAT

  • donnies the best

  • Best gig I've ever been to. Fantastic setting and great music - Capercaillie and Wolfstone were on the bill too IIRC.

  • @HaleHallFlyer and hothouse flowers great day

  • I am Scottish descent, my maternal grandmother, was only 2nd generation in America. I love these guys. I would love to move to Scotland and teach school there, and never leave again. Scotland, beautiful women and teaching, 3 of my favorite things.

  • Soooooo great.....

  • it is a shame we as a country fail 2 appreciate just how huge runrig are i was brought up listening 2 runrig and at 24 i never get bored hearing them and still go 2 all there gigs simply awesome in every way

  • one of the best band to come out of scotland, shame there bigger in other countries rather in their own one. donnie was a good front man. bruce is trying

  • 2 of them?

You must mean Rory and Calum! Or Roderick and malcolm as I believe they're actually called!

  • Donnie was telling us that he was on strong pain killers throughout this concert, he's hurt his back the day or so before.

Still performed brilliantly, as he/they always do

Runrig the best live band ever...END OFF.

  • they are totally wkd

  • This brings back lots of great memories - what a GREAT track - esp 3.30 - 4.30, with Malky's volume swells - AMAZING sounds! Really atmospheric and REALLY hard to play! What a talent!

  • there not the same with out DONNIE HE MADE THEM AMAZING

  • Bruce Guhtro is amazing m8

  • Thanks for this post!

    Runrig NR 1

  • if i could go back in time for 1 day i would go back and go 2 this gig as i was just a bearn then n never went it looks amazing i just hope scone palace next year will be as great roll on runrig this wknd at the barrowlands i have 2 tickets for each night

  • I was 10 when this concert was on.

    Was awesome.

My family stay in Balloch Park,

so we all got into concert started.

There is a video cassette out of it, think its called the big wheel or wheel in motion, something like that.

    Was a really good day.

    Not loud enough though.

If I remember, they sold 40,000 tickets which sold out, so they increased it to 50,000.

The police reckon there was well over 60,000 people there that managed to sneak in. In my opinion, there was more than that.

  • maybe runrig r better etc in folks eyes but take in mind saying they were wooden when donnie was there, remember loch lomond was in the early 90s,this was there first big gig and experimenting with lights and sounds etc, runrig,id take my hat off to u if i had 1.

  • Brilliant as usual, absolutely beautiful singing, it gives me goosebumps.

  • THIS IS DONNIES PURE DEAD BRILLIANT

  • i agree with speakr2customrs they are better live, they dont look as wooden under donnies leadership bruce seems to have brought them out more, malcom is fantastic as ever and brian is a great vocalist. but when they are all together its just fantastic. ive been a fan for 23 years and they get better as the years go on rory and calumn should be commended for their songwriting skills now. donnie and peter will always be a big part of the band but now the lineup is good and keeps the music going.

  • this song is one of my biggest favorites..but every river and book of golden stories live is nr1

  • you should here donnie along with his band they are absolutely mega fantastic you could say am a fan .

  • gr8 song wish i cudav been there 2 see it live but im still as big a fan as i was then edinburgh castle cant wait!!

  • yep it sure is.cant wait till this summer when the man comes back here to balloch with his band to play.

  • hi chudcfc

is donnie playing with his band at Balloch

  • Thanks for uploading :)

  • very welcome lawgirl

  • What a band! Come back Donnie Boy! Runrig have lost their best vocalist. Harvest Moon, Dance Called America & Flower of the West, my favourite songs are wasted without you.

  • I don't agree; I've been going to Runrig concerts since 1985, most recently on 3rd October this year, and in my opinion they are far better with Bruce instead of Donnie.

  • The new bloke, Bruce, isnt a bad singer- but I prefer Donnie Boy. That is who I grew up with. Its a band I rarely see now after they took on Bruce.

Is Malky Jones still with them?

  • Yes, Malcolm is still with them, and playing better than ever. They focus more on him than they used to, in fact, which is one reason why I think they're better now.

Their new young keyboard player Brian Hurren (young enough to be the son of the original members!) has a pretty good voice too and they're starting to make use of his vocals in some of their live songs.
