I was there, way back, when this song was released. I saw the Doobies perform it live and it was awesome. I've watched every video Youtube has of the video. I can't think of another song that is still so true to itself, whether performed by the Doobies, after Michael M. joined, by Michael McDonald, alone, the Doobies, without Michael M., or any number of the band members on their own. I personally think the Doobies have enjoyed the success and revenue that Michael M. brought to the band.

i went to an old friend's house for a short reunion. brought my acoustic and most of my classic rock cd collection and had a lot of fun singing john denver songs, james taylor, some eagles, america, seals and crofts and did a CALIFORNIA DREAMIN acoustic version. that was really good. we listen to the doobies, zeppelin, lots of zppelin, crosby stiils and nash. this song was a favorite.... this song is timeless
