@ugety It's a brush, but not a paintbrush... it is made up of small wires and used commonly in latin, jazz, and music of that nature. You can find them with the drumsticks at pretty much any music or drum store.

Yes, I've played over the original track on the video. The idea was to sorta add to the track I guess! Saw a couple of live versions and how it was played. Kudos to the drummer for a great job. But kept hearing this brushes vibe so went with that ;-)

i'm justing saying, but listen carefully and notice the hi-hat, hitting by feet will not make that good sound. and the base, his right feet is not moving much. how on earth do you keep a constant beet by 1 foot not not moving much? i guess he is playing over the original drums or multi tracks

Has anyone ever actually watched a live version of this song?! The drummer is using a shaker and the bass drum for most of the song...Thats it...Not doing little rolls with brushes!

Best drum cover of this song on Youtube from what I can tell. In 2010 seems lots of drummers don't even have brushes. Most other covers are using sticks. Not better only because of the brushes like in original, but you make it fun to listen to.

Thanks heaps! The mics used are a Shure SM57 on the snare, Rode NT2 for an overhead, AUDIX D6 on the bass drum and I'm sorry I'm not sure about the one on the floor toms! I borrowed it ;-) Thanks for the comments everyone. AV
