beagles could just anything they get theirs paws into, we have to double check every inch in the house to make sure we don't fine any "surprise" when we get home. once we forget to lock a door and found half the pet food intended for the whole month mysteriously missing.
yeah i go to school like every weekday and noone is home most of the time.... 8 hours of fun with just enough time to get back into the couch and lay down like nothing went on? THEN MY GARBAGE BIN in my room is always dug out -3-
@f79rank thankfully she hasn't figured that one out. If she had I'm sure we'd have a fat groaning ravenous beagle beast who couldn't move. She has eaten three plates full of Christmas cookies before though....
@Darlazowner25 It's been over 20 years, but I taught my last beagle to open the gate in front of the house so I wouldn't need to reach over him to do it. I showed him by flicking it open with a quick wrist movement, and after only 2 demos he mimicked me and opened it. Very soon I found cupboards and refrigerator open when we came home. Cold food has little smell so he never took anything, but he did finish boxes of milkbones from the cupboard. He already knew the boxes.
@Darlazowner25 He also learned to reach up and press the latch to open the back door simply by watching me do it. I never tried to teach him that.
Once he made a soft bark like a whisper, so I immediately gave him something and got him to do it on command. He learned to whisper on command so well that when he had a barking fit I could make him do it quietly. Again, mimickery was the way he learned, because I made silent barks and he followed.

Can she open the refrigerator? My beagle could, so we had to put a child safe strap on it!
