If you know Mayer's style you would know that he doesn't exactly use a pick for his more mellow stuff. If he's playing something like "Who Did You Think I Was," he's definitely using a pick. In this song, it's tough to hold a pick to pick the notes while tapping the trem bar with like two fingers.

I can't understand why people use earplugs at live concerts. They loose all the little nuances of the music, especially in soft concerts like this. It would be different if you are at a Metallica concert or so. If you're musician and you're always rehearsing and playin', it would also be ok, but regular people using earplugs..... can't understand.

@marvelboy04 this is actually a dumble amp the two rock amp and a fender bandmaster all playing at once through very expensive cabinets. its pretty much a 60,000 dollar amp combo the dumble alone is like 40,000 and the two rock is about 25,000 and i dont know about the bandmaster. Mayers got some cash

When we asked John Mayer at Wollongong where Steve Jordan was he said that Steve was doing music for the World Cup and has heaps of studio work in the States. So yeah, he's not usually a touring musician.

@musicnote keith carlock is just as big as steve...and just as good, just a different style. a lot of people were pissed when keith took the jm gig cause they thought keith was above the pocket groove stuff. steve obviously suggested keith. steve doesn't really tour, he's a studio rat so for him to even do the winter tour was rare. check out some of keith carlocks work, he's great.
