there was two scandinavian teams in the winter olympics final 2006 and just so you know sweden won both the olympics and the hockey worldcup that year, no other country has ever done that

Same players, same rink size. The same players we will send to Vancouver were the same as we sent to Torino. Our NHL players had to adjust themselves equally as much as Canada's NHL players in Torino.
There might be less physical play because the nhl season is still too important to northamerican players more than to Europeans so there might be a thinking: why should i get injured within one month during a few games and lose the entire season where i get paid real big?Europeans won't have to adjust at all,some of them won't even have to leave the country,'cause they play on canadian teams.There is NO comparison with Torino in that regard.

Canada won in Salt Lake City on the NHL sized rink,the only valid type of ice rink,that should be allowed when best players meet.Those boring European sized rinks with less overall excitement like the one in Nagano and Torino should be left for the Europeans and their leagues and for World championships.Where was Sweden in 96,98,02?I'm pretty sure ,they did worse than Canada....

I love watching the nhl, but there are as many europlayers doin well there than N.A players. Detroit have half their lineup filled with swedes, and they made the finals TWICE, and Won the cup once. However this hit is ugly considerin its in overtime, although ive seen much worse

Canada is notoriously known for sluggish starts.Everything begins with elimination games for them.Group games've never motivated them enough.We get frustrated,'cause the rules are adjusted to Europeans and we can't play our game.Physical style gives us incredible confidence,'cause there is NO defense against it and it causes Europeans to make mistakes.With"the new nhl" the rules are different and politics fixed something that'd been more than good for decades and Euros thrive in new environment.

I didnt even mention the Euro Hockey League or the NHL. I've been a Flyers fan for a long time. I agreed that NHL are far more superior than any Euro Hockey League. When you say that we "Europeans" are useless, you forget we players like Borje Salming, Forsberg, Sundin, Naslund, the Sedin twins, Alfredsson, whatever. Let me repeat it again-MAJORITY of Europeans which means there are some exceptions amongst them- yes for example Forsberg.But i never heard him whine about hits,because he was able to deal with them.And i said that their STICKHANDLING is mostly useless,meaning they get usually knocked off the puck or they eventually lose it.You must've meant World championship in Europe.The reasons why they can't win it every year are euro sized rinks,long, tiring travel,motivation and a drastic change in style.

A good hockey player is able to adjust himself. And you don't know what will happen, we are the reigning champions, not Canada. If Tommy Salo wouldn't have messed up in Salt Lake City we would have had a big chance of winning the Olympics in 2002.

The players we send to Vancouver play in the NHL. Many of them haven't played in European elite leagues for many years. The difference from the NHL in Vancouver will be less physical play. Same players, same rink size. The same players we will send to Vancouver were the same as we sent to Torino. Our NHL players had to adjust themselves equally as much as Canada's NHL players in Torino.

There might be less physical play because the nhl season is still too important to northamerican players more than to Europeans so there might be a thinking: why should i get injured within one month during a few games and lose the entire season where i get paid real big?Europeans won't have to adjust at all,some of them won't even have to leave the country,'cause they play on canadian teams.There is NO comparison with Torino in that regard.

Swedish hockey today have changed quite a bit, there are serious talks about rebuilding all Swedish hockey rinks to the smaller NHL size and the national team now include fighters such as Douglas Murray (sharks).
So you can assume it as standard in the future that whenever you play Sweden your best player will be taken out of play, perhaps permanently. >=)

I always have been a fan of Canada since the first day I saw it on tv. Canada got me interested in Hockey. I screamed when Canada took the gold medal in 2002.
