  • does it work on iphone 3?

  • when i went to the advanced settings and the aac version wasnt there someone plz help

  • @tessy1559 SAME.

  • @tessy1559 After you do the 30 seconds or 40 seconds thing, ( I would recommend 30 seconds ), you click OK, then instead of going to Advanced settings you can right-click on the song and hit " Create AAC Version ". I hope that was helpful.

  • you can also get an app called ringtone maker and its even easier

  • The phone doesnt ring with the new ringtone...what do i do to make it do it even after syncing?

  • @jazzyjoe112 After you sync you have to use it as your ringtone...Did you go to the Settings? Go to Settings > Sounds and there should be something about your ringtone, that's how I got mine to ring with the new ringtone. By the way I'm using an iPhone 4 so I'm sorry if it's not the same for you.

  • My iTunes doesn't give me an option of creating an 'AAC' version... what do I do?

  • thanks for the tips !!

  • Comment removed

  • this didnt work:/

  • If you want any other file type for non-iphone application, just go to Preferences before following these directions. Here you can go to 'General' and click on 'Import Settings' in here choose 'Import Using' which has AAC, AIFF & WAV. Most new phones though i think will use AAC. You can also control the sound quality here too. If you're converting purchased i-Tunes music to MP3 you can set it for Highest quality. Hope that all helps a bit, just had the need to do this myself last week.

  • I got the ringtones alright but my problem is syncing them to me iPhone 4. When I go to sync the ringtones it says it will delete ALL music, and video off my iPhone if I continue. WHY?

  • this didnt work for me

  • @757metal757 try this: choose your song> create ACC> name it B> options: use 30-40 sec> create ACC from B> delete you're first ACC (move to trash)> keep 30-40sec ACC> drag it to desktop, change extension from m4a to m4r > delete ACC b from itunes make sure you keep file > last just drag the file from your desktop to your ringtones > tha't's all.

  • Okay, just to clear some things up. If you do not have a "Ringtones" folder where I showed it should be all you have to do is create a folder named "Ringtones." Then when you go to add to library, just search for that folder and BAM! there will now be a Ringtone icon next to the other icon i.e. Mucis, Movies, Podcasts, and etc. Hope this clears up some confusion. Cheers mates?

  • if its shorter than 40sec will it repeat?

  • @gotmini Indeed it will!

  • @gotmini how long do you plan on listening to your phone ring before you pick it up? lol

  • @1987jughead what i meant was if i pick like a 10 sec part of the song will my phone only ring for 10 secs. but no it will play the full 40

  • Mine wont ask if i want to change it to m4r! :(

  • How can I make a 'ringtones' folder in my itunes for my iphone? Thanks.

  • @kpelley13 Sorry for the delay, what you need to do is, once it;s in your window click on it once to highlight it then after a few seconds click it again, it'll be highlighted in a different way and now you shold be able to change it to .m4r

  • @kpelley13 Thanks and you're welcome!

  • I have watched this video and it has helped me but i can't find the ringtone on my iphone can you help me out please thx.

  • @allport118247 try to remove all of your ringtones via synch then add them back on.

  • Hey! i need help. i can't change the file to m4r :( after i renamed it, it doesn't show anything. Its appears like normally how name of files are changed.

  • @guitham Huh, did a window pop up and say if you would like to confirm this change?

  • THANK YOU!!!!! (:

  • i must have paused/watched this 100 times. i have the ringtone folder, but can't get to show in my HD...so frustrating.......

  • @dnew40 you're gonna have to look under the music tab on your HD, then itunes, then itunes music, and it should be there, if not look into the music folder and look near the R's for the folder.

  • Works. :)

  • Dude, fuck!ng awesome. Thanks a lot!

  • Mine doesn't do the 'm4r' thing?

  • I've done everything but it only does a certain amount of songs

    what should I do?

  • @krystle20032 how many songs do you have as ringtones?

  • doesnt work for me, i have a different version of itunes i think

  • @pugpuddles It doesn't matter what version you have. I started in 7, and now I'm using the latest. The only thing that changed is some of the options are in different places. trust me i make'em all the time and it works on any itunes

  • For those of you using windows and cant change .m4a to .m4r follow this guide

Control panel > Appearance and themes > folder options > view > uncheck hide extensions for known types

Now you can change the file type

  • @garthuncle1690 My windows doesn't have 'appearance and theme'

  • @MeganBain16 Check for Appearance and Personalization? What Version of windows are you running?

  • @MeganBain16 change your viewing to classic then a bunch of different options will come up.

  • @garthuncle1690

    thanks !!

  • @garthuncle1690 THX MAN!!! rly helped

  • my create aac version isnt clickable..why??

  • you fools are asking too many questions! The video lays it out perfectly just pay attention

  • i dont have the ringtones tab on the side of my itunes how do i get that plzz.

  • how did you get AAC?

  • does this work for Windows??

  • i dont see Convert Selection to AAC and im using a mac

  • can i choose a different ringtone for text ms too?

  • @n1ma1 Now that's a little tricky, however very possible. I'll try to make another video covering it but I've been real busy. I think this was the latest video I made and that was about a year ago.

  • @PlaceboTree can you set a ring tone for hold? and or alarms? and stuff rofl.

  • what about text msg?

  • Cant find ringtones in iTunes folder, anyone can teach me how?

  • wen i right click the song it says convert ID3 tags instead of convert to aac

  • @jcavallo718, You gotta go to the advanced tab on the top if it isn't there when you right click it. Good Luck.

  • Your a gun mate, thanks for the help!

  • @bobsyourunclez No Prob!

  • Thaaaaank you finally i got the ringtone tht i like ta na na na :D :D

  • Hey to turn ringtones on you need to go to i tunes preferences and select the tick box then just drag the file from the desktop into the folder on i tunes should help

  • @hardyj works perfect thnx man real simple

  • it didnt sync onto my iphone in the rongtones section, please help

  • @oddoken I've had that happen to me before. What I did was make sure all of the ringtone files were where they should be in Finder and in iTunes. After that I made sure no ringtones were synced or even removed, then backed the phone up and then eject it. Then plug it back in and select the ringtones to sync and they should be there. GoodLuck!

  • Hey i need help i am trying to this but when i click add file and then choose the ringtone and click choose it just doesn't work and doesnt show up on the ringtone i need help??

  • @nik123498 Hmm, that's something I've never seen before. Did you make sure to manually place the ringtone file you just made into the right folder first then try to open it thru itunes? Let me know how it goes.

  • yea i can really use, o thats right i use windows and Verizon, i don't own a icrap biphone..LMFAO...

  • @justinhouck90 Then sucks to be you.

  • Hey, i haven't got a ringtones folder?

  • @Jogge1712Films Try to import the ringtone file then iTunes should make one if not try making it yourself. Here's where it is on my Mac. HD/Music/iTunes/iTunesMusic/Ringtones.

  • ooh wait i worked it out thanks !!

  • heyyy ! i just have one question.. when i move the file to my desktop.. there is no option to change it to .m4r like, there is no .m4a - it simply just says the song name ?

  • @eberrell You have to change it manually. when you click on it, click on it one more time till you notice it'll let you change the name. I'm not sure how it is on a Windows comp. but on mine the extension label is there and all I do is move the coursor over and change the extension name

  • afer i play the part i want as a ringtone, the creat AAC is not on advanced.

  • You can just "right click" the song and the Create AAC option should be there.

  • hey guys once you change the song as m4r drag it to music folder . it will automatically make a ringtone folder.

  • why can't i find the ringtones folder in my finder?

  • look for your music folder, then >itunes>itunes music>ringtones. It should be there!

  • would this work the same way on a PC?

  • Haven't tried it yet. Go MAC!

  • No because you can't change the format of the file (.m4a -> .m4r) automatically like on the MAC. you have to get a file converter.

  • worked like a charm mate =D

  • i can't find the ringtones in the itunes music folder

  • Under the "File" Tab, look for add to library, it should be there. Or under the user tab in Finder, look for music then you Itunes stuff should be there. Goodluck mate!

  • it's not asking me if i'm sure i would like to rename it .. its considering the .m4r extension is just part of the name of the song!! please help

  • Hmm, that's interesting. I've never run onto this problem before. Are you using iTunes 8? Are you renaming it in the desktop, or in some sort of folder?

  • I did everything you said but i cant drag my ringtone into the rintone folder on itunes. I tried clicking on the HD icon too but it still didnt work.

    Good video though :)

  • You need to drag it into the ringtones folder using the finder, and easy way to do this is, have the ringtones folder open on your desktop, then drag the desktop ringtone to the folder then Presto it should be there! Goodluck!

  • THANK YOU!! :D

  • Nice video mate .. i was wondering if it worked on other phones .. say a sony erricson ?

  • Hmm, I'm not quite sure about that, give it a try and let me know!

  • I think it may in-fact work on other phones, if they use m4r format, but then again, I may be wrong.

  • can this work with other phones not just the Apple Iphone

  • I think it may in-fact work on other phones, if they use m4r files!

  • im using mac osx 10.4.11 and latest itunes 8.2.. i cant find my ringtones folder.. i create the ringtones folder and follow the next step.. but still cant.. the question is.. where can i find my ringtones folder? help me please :(

  • Try searching for it in the Spotlight Tool (The small magnifying glass on the top right). If that doesn't yield results then; Double click your HD Icon, click the music folder, open the iTunes folder, and look for it in the iTunes Music Folder. That should work. Or are you talking about finding the ringtones folder when your in ITunes?

  • the ringtones folder is not in my itunes music library.. i used spotlight.. still cant find it.. or is it because the osx 10.4?

  • That's very odd, I'm not sure if the problem is from OSX 10.4. If you can, try to update your machine. I know it works great on my machine and I am using OSX 10.5.7. Good luck!

  • Thank you so much! this video is amazing ! :D

  • No Prob! Sure beats paying a buck or so so ringtones doesn't it?

  • this video is great!! but when i go to advanced to "create ACC version" it wont let me select it, any reason?

  • Hmm, let me experiment with that really quickly then I'll let you know soon!

  • I'm not quite sure what it could be. I tried a few different scenarios and it seemed to work okay for me. However for one reason or another this method doesn't work for DMG (rights protected music). Perhaps you may have missed a step. Try reading the details in the more info. tab and this could help as well: try to pause the video after each step, complete the step, go back to the beginning of that step and confirm you've done it correctly! Goodluck, let me know what the issue was if you fix it!

  • this video is genius!
