  • Sweet vid!!! I had that happen to me at KBFI too about 10 years ago, except it was an Aiborne Express 767

  • for some reason this made me think of snorkeling and then seeing a big shark or whale swim on by you, and wondering what else is about to nail you

  • Awesome video! Looks like you guys had fairly calm weather too.

  • I'd have laughed if you'd beaten him.

  • You should slide in right behind its left wingtip because its generating lift and you can get some of that to increase your TAS. I read that in the Bible

  • This is a pretty cool video but a little too close for comfort for me. Its a good thing you stayed high on final as the Boeing slid past. Those wingtip vortices could cause some major problems if you had encountered them. But non the less the video is too cool.

  • AWESOME

  • i bet the 787 pilot was trying to slow down to catch a glimpse of the [new] C172

  • shoulda mooned the bastard!

  • Would have had a better view if you were flying a piper ha ha!

  • Would have had a better view if you were flying a piper ha ha! LOW WING RULES!

  • Awsome video. That 172 doesn't mix with the big iron. Had the same thing happen to me at TUL but just took the left side. Me and the Beech Sport b19 could do 118 knots tops with the climb prop. Controller kept saying can you give me more? Never offered the left side until I asked for it.

  • You're right: you were on 13L and the 787 was 13R, KBFI. Bet that was a kick, would've loved to been in back of the 172 to see that!

  • Dang I'm surprised you didn't have way more turbulence than that...

  • Thats awesome footage right there!

  • i saw the same plane take off at the boeing meuseam it was awesome and i also it landing at the top of the space needle

  • 1 person is afraid to go around in a cessna

  • That's a beautiful view with the sunlight and the 787. I don't think any Airbus can match that kind of beauty.

  • Awesome!!

  • simply amazing!

  • That 1 dislike must be from an Airbus employee/pilot

  • finally, a video that deserves a thumbs up

  • Well at least you have better STOL capabilites............

  • Next time give him the finger! But the wrench slow riser.

  • That is fucking awesome!

  • oh my god! that is the best view of an airplane i've ever seen!!!!

i'm sure if i was the pilot i would have just looked outta the window and crashed ^^

  • Nice!!! VERY nice!!!!!

  • It sounded like at the very end of the video he was going around prob because of wake turbulence

  • im pretty surprised that you are allowed that close to a jetliner. wow.

  • should have given him the finger!

  • This is a terrific piece of video. Talk about being at the right place at the right time...

  • Wow that was close!....And they are making a big stink because the first ladies 737 got to within 3 miles of a C-17???!?!??!!!?....lol You were so close to that 787 I bet you could smell what the flight crew had for breakfast! Great video bythe way!

  • Wake turbulence...

  • Why would you be landing at Boeing Field? Isn't that Boeing's private airport?

  • @airbusisawesome Boeing doesn't have a private airport. KBFI is King County International airport, also known as Boeing Field. It's named after Boeing.

  • @Be44321 See? Everyone learns something everyday. I just learned something. Thanks! :)

  • Why did you go around?

  • @MrFlyguy124 I was instructed to by the tower. If I remember correctly there was another cessna landing ahead of me and because I was going fast to try to keep up with the 787 there wasn't enough space between me and him.

  • @Be44321 that and you may get a whiff of his vortex coming off of the 787's wings. that could make your plane do some funky stuff

  • @MrFlyguy124 Watch 13L - there's another Cessna taking off. At 1:01 she's at the middle of the runway.

  • AWW

  • What plane were you in?

  • @thebullomon Cessna 172

  • She's so graceful in the air

  • that's what I call 'airplane paparazzi'.

  • @serverguyxx kiss my ass

  • @wizzair1313 LOLLLLZ

  • It was pretty cool! I really was doing 135 KIAS in a 172!!!!!!!!!1 No I didn't suffered any wake turbulence thought. Boeing Field isn't owned by Boeing, it's owned by King County and is a public airport, so no special permission required.

  • How cool is that!

  • this is really unique !! Wow.. Did you suffered from any wake turbulence ?

  • You were doing 135 KIAS on final in a 172????

  • the hardest part for Cessna pilot was to focus on HIS glidepath

  • do you have to get a special clearance to land at BFI? or you just land like in any other airport?

  • Thats amazing.......that graceful bird of the sky will an icon of air travel!

  • wow!!

  • Now that was neat.

Were you trying to speed up? How cute.

  • Comment removed

  • Rolls Royce engines power the 787

  • Caution wake turbulence from the arriving 787.......

  • OMFG THATS FUCKING AWESOME YOUR SO LUCKY!!! I TOTALLY WISH I WAS YOU AT THAT MOMENT OR IWAS THERE!!!!!!

  • @wizzair1313 OMG ME TWOOOOOO!!!!!1111 OH SNAP WAIT I WAS THERE!!!!!!!!!!1

  • @Be44321 fail

  • @wizzair1313 LOLZ

  • @wizzair1313 LOLZ

  • @wizzair1313 LOLZ

  • I can't believe you let that jerk pass you. I would have firewalled that bitch and showed the newbie who's boss.

    ; )

  • @twal1011 Dude...the max speed of a Cessna 172 is 125 knots, which is below the approach speed of the 787. There would've been no chance.

  • she looks heavenly!

  • love it!

  • Incredibleee

The 787 its too fast for the 72 XD

  • altoo viddd

  • Wow !

  • wow cool vid

  • sweet

  • Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet!!

  • That was cool! Ver neat! Thanks for sharing!

  • love it - fantastic.

  • amazing

  • OMFG you are SOO lucky!!

  • AWESOME!!!

  • Brandon!! That was cool. I like the 787's Tips!! giggity

  • Nice! One of those right time, right place moments!

  • Such a beautiful plane

  • Awsome!!!!!

  • Gorgeous!

  • ZA001 is such a beautiful airplane! That video is awesome.

  • That was awesome, you don't see that everyday in a 172!!

Curious though...do you think the 787's TCAS would have been warning him of traffic????

  • @sam1975heavy

It definitely would have been warning him. "Traffic Traffic." That happens all the time when you're close to the airport often because people are sitting near the runway doing runups with their transponders' altitude reporting on.

  • Thank you!

  • Hell yeah!

    That's awesome!

  • That's SOO freakin cool!!!! I might have done the same during my last flight had I done a couple more touch n' goes! I missed it by a couple minutes.

  • I was doing about 135 KIAS as the 787 passed me. I would guess he was doing between 145 and 150 KTS.

  • Fantastic footage! Thank you for sharing it!

  • Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Amazing!!.

  • I want to be in your plane! 5*

  • Awesome video!

  • wow! most awesome video ive ever seen! How did u even get permission to fly over that airfield during the 787 landing?

  • That was COOL! I like how the 787 seemed to float in the air, seemingly going barely faster than your Cessna. You were, what, 175kt? And he was about 200kt? Didn't appear to be much more speed difference than that. He was probably on full flaps, with engines just a little above idle, I'd guess. Soaring leisurely along like a huge eagle. Impressive bird. Grade: Stars: 5

  • @lonewolfintj cessna was probably about 75 - 80kts wich is amazing considering like you say that 787 is going quite a bit faster and just seems to float there.

  • @Iamfukenripped : No, the 787 was clearly not flying "quite a bit faster" than the 172. The runway center lines are about 300 feet apart, so the 787 is only 300 feet from the 172. The 787 looks to be flying only about 25kts faster than the 172. Note that the 172 pilot gunned the engine to partially keep up. The 172 can cruise at about 120kts, and Boeing's recommended approach speed for 787 is 140kts. So I'm guessing the 172 was going 115kts, and the 787 was going 140kts.

  • @lonewolfintj 115Kts sounds more realistic than 175kts dude, Wich is like a 60kts difference to what you originally put wich to me for a cessna 172 seemed a little exaggerated So i replyed on the basis that i know that a cessna 172 aproach speed is around 75 kts thats all man.

  • @Iamfukenripped : Yes, the numbers in my first comment were wildly inaccurate, it turned out. I was just guessing off the top of my head. But when I was replying to your post, I took the time to look up the stats, and I found that the landing speeds of a Cessna 172 and a Boeing 787 are actually not all that different. (The *cruising* speeds, of course, are *very* different: the Cessna 172 cruises at 122kts, whereas the Boeing 787 cruises at 487kts!)

  • Hehe yeah man you cant deny though that the 787 is a lovely lookin bird :).

  • @Iamfukenripped : Oh, yeah, it's gorgeous. I love the swept-back wingtips, never seen anything like that on an airliner before. If the tip of the tail fin was swept back a bit (rear edge curving up-and-backwards) it would look even more awesome, I think. But perhaps Boeing decided to make it more dolphin-like than shark-like, fearing that people wouldn't go for a plane that looked like a great white shark. So 787 looks like a dolphin. (Compare to A380, which looks like a beached whale.)

  • Hahaha feelings mutual man.

  • wtf amazing video :D

  • Amazing! Thats an awesome vid!

  • Oh...my...gosh!!! Thats so awesome!

  • Gee what a bit of luck... one for the aero club chats... well done!

  • Lucky you avoided his wake turbulence, or dude you? Is there more footage?

  • Riveting video, chap!

  • Cool video bro

  • It looks a lot closer in person than it does in the video. It's common at BFI.

  • What in the hell was that!!!! You two are so close!!

  • Awesome!
