Traditional monks/ninjas/samurai even spartans did nothing their whole lives but train from the age of 4-5 8-12 hours a day. these MMA guys are ok but most didnt start early enough or put in enough hours every day for 20+ years, they have families/school/work sooo many reasons why modern day martial arts will never be that good

Why do people always fail ro realize that mma is for fighting and martial arts is a war fighting style technique meant for killing or disable an opponent. There's a difference being trained to fight long term and being trained to kill. That's why shaolin kung fu belongs outside of the ring. @fckuupify Mixed martial arts is where styles from all martial arts meet in the ring to find out what really works in a fight and whats just posing. mma is not a fighting style in itself, it encompasses all fighting styles including taekwondo. if taekwondo was so good then it would be the dominant form of stand up in mma, but it's not, boxing, kickboxing, and muay thai are.

One person may be better than another in mma, but brought in to a practical fight, such as on the streets and you see that mma is completely worthless to someone who has mastered something practical.

@fckuupify on the streets a gun trumps all, but we're talking about hand to hand combat.I never siad it was a perfect mix of all martial arts, on the contrary mma is survival of the fittest as far as martial arts is concerned. if a style works in a real fight it will be incorporated into mma. you have to be good at everything. take machida, he is an awesome karate fighter but he is also great at judo and jiu jitsu. a shaolin would have to learn jiu jitsu and either wrestling or judo.

MMA has a long list of rules and restrictions which would be broken at the first opportunity in real fighting. And unless you're trained with gun and close combat, bringing a gun against trained fighters isn't a guarantee to trump everything.

well many people think that tkd is not a realistic fighting system but that is bull shit. i have done much olympic sparring but tkd came from tang soo do moo doo kwon which was developed for war. i am a mma champion in ohio and if u are taught the true technique and realistic side of tkd that it was originally developed for it is one of the most powerful and fluid fighting styles there is.

@MitsosSasuke So you don't actualliy use Taekwondo but you use a self defence system, the traditional Taekwondo has a lot of weak poinst, first you need to warm up your muscles to use it correctly otherwise you might get hurt, secondly your clothing might not allow you to use yuor high kick techniques and if your opponent charges you straight and attemps a takedown you surely wont be able to stop him

This is great. I have not seen a single TKD vs Kung Fu video yet in which the kung fu fighter hasn't been more badass. TKD is a martial art with many, many holes in it. Many TKD instructors start off teaching offensive techniques, neglecting to teach many critical defensive maneuvers. Against a common street fighter, offense can be the best defense. But when facing a highly skilled offensive fighter, DEFENSE is the best defense: Clearly evidenced by the ending. LOL. Go Kung Fu!
