You guys have topen your minds a little... wine can run both CS3 suite and 3Dsmax flawlessy in linux.... and if you doesn't like 3Dsmax emulation get the maya for linux
I overclocke my eeepc to 1080mhz and installed 2g ram... poser7 and 3dsmax9 runs just fine after installing the vga scale driver. Who says the eeepc is not powerful enough? I can even run nfs9 on it with a playable framerate (around 15 frames average)
I have both units with XP, either has goods and bads I use the E-PC when all I need is e-mail, everything else I use the Cloudbook. I love the super fast start up E-PC but after the UPDATES for XP all I have left is 1/2 a gb. Micro better not send out any large updates !!! The Cloudbook has a 1.2MHz enought ram for a unit it's size AND 30gb HHD. People bad mouth the Cloodbook but it's a laptop not a PDA. and give a year of Micro's updates lets see who sorry they got the 4gb drive.
Okay, I give you that. The Cloudbook seems to be outclassed by the eee at the moment, but the Cloudbook MAX may reverse that and VIA Isaiah will give another big boost to the platform. Hope they can keep the pricing it depends on this.
I'm wondering what the price is going to be because it really is rigged up compared to the original cloudbook.
Anyway, they've done great work with improving the VIA C7 chip. I have one of the originals and frankly I'm still pleased with its basic performance. I can't wait for the improved version.

omg why do people put a shit OS like XP on these things... PC users today are miserable pathetic backward retards... Here's one example, quoting one upon trying a standard Eee PC, "It doesn't have a start button"... freaking hell... Its not just Microsoft holding the industry back any more, its users themselves who don't want better software, and for whom any change is "bad"... Pardon my rant, but I'm just so sick and tired of it, its pathetic.
Ye. I agree. Lets tell the whole world that Microsoft are shit and everyone should use linux.
What the hell are you talking about mate. XP is fantastic OS. There are lots of dumb users but im sorry theres no linux version of ANY of the apps i use (the whole CS3 suite, 3DsMAX, video production stuff in general).
Firstly, I didn't tell anyone to specifically use Linux (though it is one of the best operating systems for these devices). XP has never been a "fantastic" OS, the only people I ever hear saying that are people who have never used anything else. And if you want to run CS3 or 3DsMAX on an Eee PC, good luck with that... Seriously, grow a brain.

Have you used XPLite? It makes it even faster.. When I used it (although I'm currently on Ubuntu), it used up only about 1Gb..

The ASUS has an integrated flash drive so it's not a fair comparison.

But that's the point, they both have the original hardware set-up

Of course no one is about to try and run that on an eee. My point was that you were saying windows was hopeless.

:) xp is a good os and i love ubuntu at the same time even though i cannot use photoshop(or illustrator, indesign,..).
i don't want to start anything here but my point is, xp is the best OS that ever came from microsoft since the release of vista. that's all.
