  • oh wah, the kid probably didn't even give a shit.

and yet we still have under god in the pledge, and bible club meetings in school being shoved down out throats. cry me a river.

  • Who cares? He probably was.

  • Fox "News" is a propaganda organ of the far right......It is outrageous that it supports censorship but then again Fox "News" is a fascist network

  • Fuck the damn clowns.

  • Well, after getting homeschooled, I'm sure he'll have ample opportunity to live out the minimum wage jobs detailed in the book he found so offensive.

  • That poor kid isn't being home "schooled," he's being home indoctrinated. If people are so afraid of opinions that differ with their own that they're not willing to even examine them, perhaps it's time they examine their beliefs and understand why they're so fragile.

  • too young to see it if it was made into a movie? well if you used that standard on the bible, it wouldve been banned long ago.

  • American Christians are absolute morons.

  • Just teach your kids to have a mind of their own and question what they read, then you wont have any problems with books being in stride with what you belief.. Then again.. it'd make the whole bible thing a bit difficult to convey...

  • Well us wiccans get sent to the Guidance counsler for jsut being Wiccan..but nooooooo, no one cares if its not christain.

  • how about how tim tebow offends my fellow atheists by saying praise my lord and savior jesus christ all the time

  • If they made a movie about the bible and left nothing out, he'd be too young to see it.

  • So... telling the truth about a fictional character is offensive? What next, will people be suing others because Harry Potter wears glasses? That Robb Stark has a wolf? That Lestat lusts for his mother?

  • here. i had to sit through 7 years of brainwashing in primary school. i had to sit and read the bible. it offended me. i dont see my cort case bitchs

    that boys pathic

  • 0:50 So would the bible...

  • Can they prove Jesus was a "wine guzzling vagrant"?... probably not.

Can they prove Jesus was the son of god?.. definitely not.

    Teach the controversy I say.

    lmao

  • so.. they're upset because a character in a book said something mean about a character in another book?

  • Ah home schooling, the solution of every Christian crackpot. Now they are free to go on trips to the Creation Museum whenever they want.

  • Hope they don't have to read The Odyssey in that high school! That book doesn't even mention Jesus, but a ton of other gods. The horror!

  • so if it slammed some other god or liberalism then itd be ok? this is america jack. keep it movin.

  • capitalism and christianity? hahaha. these idiots amuse me.

  • I read that book some six years ago. More noteworthy than then as the economy sinks further and further.

  • Christians are such pussies

  • So are they going to censor Jesus? Because that guy seemed pretty anti-capitalist to me.

  • I see, we aren't allowed to say anything negative about Capitalism and Jesus in school. So much for teaching from multiple points of view.

And Fox News calls themselves 'fair and balanced'? LOL!

  • good job schools.....don't let them censor you for one moron

  • Christ, this is stupid. The moment that idiot started saying "if they made a movie out of this book"...

  • Glwsn, Jesus existed, you would know that if you weren't a stubborn dumbshit.

  • I highly doubt the kid truly was disturbed by the book, but maybe? I think he didn't foresee any of this, and wishes he didn't try to get out of doing school work by disguising it as this load of bull. Although, he may well be so brainwashed, that he believes Jesus and the Bible to be true and and highly venerated to the point that any opposition is too much to bare...please.

The parents have know excuse, just ignore them.

  • at :53 talk about ironic... if they made a movie of the New Testament OH WAIT THEY DID and it was called The Passion of the Christ... and it was rated R AND their kid is too young to see that!!!!

  • I call the other book, "the unholy Buybull" it's no coincidence the bible is pronounced so closely to " BUY BULL", it's a like a sadistic joke against the dumb sheeple who believe this garbage- they are too stupid to catch onto that LOL.

Ive always said religion is for emotionally weak mentally ill people who need a santa claus in the sky to "save" them from himself and a crutch to lean on.

  • @doggiejigs We'll I'm mentally ill but I totally agree with you, lol.

  • In fairness, Jesus never existed. People would know that if they used logical, rational thinking

  • Religions are crutches for weak minded uneducated fools.

  • @greenarcher180 -- so you cant think of ONE educated, intelligent religious person?

  • Turning water into wine and saying it's easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than it is for a rich man to get into heaven sure makes him sound like a wine guzzling socialist to me!

  • "Wine guzzling vagrant and precocious socialist"... They say it calls him a bum..have they every looked up the definition of precocious? Who gives a shit if it "slams" Jesus? High schoolers can handle it! You want evolution gone in place of your bullshit intelligent design and say in high school we have to debate this already won debate as "Presenting both sides" and you can't handle a fucking book with a couple lines talking down about Jesus? God damn people...

  • Jesus! Lord, liar, lunatic or legend. Take your choice.

  • @FaganRoberts --LORD.

  • @RepentAmerica454 Lord? No evidence for that. Legend seems to be the most logical and appropriate.

  • @FaganRoberts --"We were not duped by clever myths, but were eyewitnesses to his glory". -St Peter

  • @RepentAmerica454 You haven't seen anything. It's a myth. That's why they call it faith.

  • @FaganRoberts --Did I say that I saw something? Im quoting St Peter, an apostle of Christ; btw mainstream historians attest to one Jesus of Nazareth, and only a very recent and radical minority say Jesus was a myth.

  • @RepentAmerica454 Yep.You stated you saw/read heresay evidence for the historical existence of Jesus. Historians can attest to a Jesus figure, but they lack convincing evidence. Even if such a figure existed, which is possible, there is no evidence to support the faith based notion he was the son of any god. Jesus was either a lunatic or a legend. So far, he's a legend on par with Mithra or Thor or Osiris. All you have is faith. And one never gets to the truth through faith.

  • @RepentAmerica454 actually of the over 50 historians that lived in and around the time that Jesus supposedly walked the earth preforming miracles, not ONE documented this figure or even the name Jesus of Nazareth. There are a total of 3 credible historians that once mentioned the term "Christ" and NEVER the miracles everyone claims Jesus did or the disciples he traveled with. Christ just means annointed one, which refers to a king or another person put in charge of something.

  • @RepentAmerica454 Your last sentence here is an outright lie, since "Jesus" was known in the Gnostic Christian sect for thousands of years as MYTHOLOGY before the Romans passed the Christian Doctrines, choosing him as the person they wanted to sheep the masses

  • @b33p3rz --Gnostic are morons, thats why their sect died out; and note that I said "historians" and not "gnostics" in my previous post.

  • @RepentAmerica454 You're not up on simple language are you? Gnostic means Knowing. If you believe in one of the bronze age myth books, you're Gnostic. They're not some whole other religion, Gnostic simply claim to know about a higher power that exists, while Agnostics (No knowledge) claim to not know. I know what word you used and when you used it, which is why the first post actually examined how the historians never documented Jesus, and the "Recent minority myth" you talk of, existed long ago

  • @b33p3rz --Gnostic means "to have secret knowledge"; Christians have no secret knowledge concerning our faith. Why the urgency to "disprove" the existence of Jesus?

  • @RepentAmerica454 Simply, no. Gnostic is Knowledge, there's no secret involved, only secret in the sense that no one can ever prove it when it's related to religion. Christians claim to have knowledge and it can never be proven, that is in nature, "secret". There's no urgency..I'm watching videos on youtube, and I come across some kid who seems to think historians know of a guy once called Jesus of Nazereth. They don't, and the people who think it's a myth are not "Recent" or a minority.

  • I'm sure Jesus can look after himself. Gee these people are crazy.

  • Yay! Down with Jesus!

  • Good job author, teacher and high school! We need more books like this.

  • You see this exact thing happen time and time again throughout the country, one "christian family" gets offended by something so small and insignificant that noone should have ever taken a second glance at it, and because "they" got offended they bitch and whine and cry until the school systems give in. The worst part, they almost always get their way. this being one of the rare exceptions where a school board stood their ground.

  • Stephen Fry "offended.... so the fuck what?"

  • @ArseneIncubus5 Right sir. The constitution does not protect "feelings". There is no retribution because some pussy got offended. I pretty much get to say whatever I like, and if it offends someone..........to damn bad. ;)

  • I hope they all get raped. And fuck Jesus.

  • Lol, but he was a drunken vagrant..

  • he wouldn't be able to see the movie version? shows how irrelevant these people are in today's society. slamming Jesus isn't something that would get a movie censored anymore.

  • ooook people really?? seriously!!?? dont you all think its time to put the fairy tall of Jesus Christ to rest....im embarrassed for all the believers out there who are in desperate need of a science book.... its 2011 smarten the fuck up

  • THat son of the bitch sits there like he was molested or something. "Oh, I was offended, mommy and daddy. How will I be able to sleep at night now. Uh."

  • Oh no, the book doesn't agree with you? Well that's to sad ain't it?

I wonder what this kid does in science class... "Miss, it says wrong here, the Earth is 6000 years old, not 4,5 billion"...

  • If you don't want your kid reading the book then don't fucking let them read it. Don't ruin it for the rest of the students because you find if offensive.

  • Lets do the Christian thing and pile up all books that we dont like and burn them.

Oh wait, didnt the Nazi's already do that?

  • lol, funny to see people cry over jesus issues

  • That kid is a little bitch.

  • what pages are these jesus slams on?

  • If you don't like the book, don't read it. Others may enjoy it. (I'm not directing this to just christians, but to everybody)

  • okay, so they pull the kid out of school and homeschool him to get him out of the school's influence. but apparently the problem isn't solved,,, now they want to regulate the teachings going on in the school when their kid is not even a student there anymore?! are you kidding me???

  • Those fashist faggot parents obviously never heard of freedom of speech.

  • What a pussy that little turd is.

  • Jesus can walk on water but can't defend himself from a book?

  • Jesus = Charles Manson

    CULT LEADERS

  • @Karoke77 lol nice.

  • Beeing a believing christian myself i still think this is ludicrous.

Why should someone not read a book, only because he does not agree with it.

It always is interesting to hear/read a new opinion, even, if i do not agree with it ...

"Always listen to the other side" once was said by cato. "Test everything. " is said in the bible itself ( 1. thess 5:21).

  • Frankly speaking, I think the book should be reviewed because it speaks of Jesus as if he was certainly a real person. That's probably it's biggest short-coming...

  • I love seeing Christians get pissed off. There's something about it that makes me so happy.

  • Ah, Americans... (lol)

  • 1. Let them home-school. 2. Good teachers don't just present books in which they agree with every sentence in them.

  • strange how we can talk smack all day about the other 1000 gods of myth, but if we talk about jesus, it should be banned.. more neo-con fanatical christian discrimination and hate..

  • WHAT A FUCKING BITCH

  • Its a book. Retards one and all. Again, its a book. With words in it. When you are young you should read as much as possible to widen your mind before it is to late.

    Oh the retardation...

  • Hang on if he's gunna be home schooled, why do they care if the high school uses the textbook?

i mean their just complaining for the sake of their own offense now. Pathetic!

  • If they made a movie of the bible it would be one of those horror/comedy parodies that really suck ass.

  • Mat 11:18 For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, 'He has a demon.'

Mat 11:19 The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, 'Look, a glutton and a winebibber, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!' Christians need to get over it

  • I don't know about the wine guzzling...although he was certainly SERVING it....and by the Catholic read on it, his blood alcohol level was/is 1.00

But he was most definitely, by what people today colloquially call, "a socialist."

  • Its a fucking book... jesus christ hobo!

  • The bible is the most immoral and hateful book ever written. Deutoronomy 22: If a man is married to a woman and he discovers that she is not a virgin, she is to be taken to her fathers door and stoned to death. There are many such barbaric and discusting passages being taught to our children.

If we are ever to advance as a viable and moral civilization we must stop teaching the ancient myths and superstitions of our early ancestors to our youth.

  • This is why we don't want religion expressed in public places like schools. Christians have the right to call homosexuals "sinful faggots", they want to be able to pray in school out loud, they want their religion taught in school even though they already have churches,...but when a person speaks against their religion they're offended, they're "suppressed".

  • When I was in high school, my english teacher gave us a book that my mother found quite offensive so they gave me a different book to study. That's the right way to handle something like this.

  • Are these people for real? And now he's gonna be home-schooled?

Check him in the background, the guy's bored, he's yawning.

  • @LegionIscariot what's the big deal about him being home-schooled?

  • How's this for "Anti-Capitalism": "It is easier for a camel to get into the eye of a needle, than it is for a rich man to enter the kingdom of god."- Jesus of flippin' Nazareth!

The fact that they were offended by the book calling Jesus a socialist, just goes to show they don't know that much about their religion. They probably blindly follow Rush Limpdick's show or something

  • @entwistlemoon Jesus is talking about how wealth can effect a person spiritually. He's NOT challenging your right to make and hold wealth. Also keep in mind that the power of God can get ANYTHING through the eye of a needle.

  • it quite frankly doesnt matter who it offends, im offended by the bibles notion that all human beings are worthy of eternal torture but i aint gonna try and ban the stupid fairytale

  • its been a few of months since this happened, these parents kid was in my personal finance class and when he stopped coming we all just assumed he drpped the class, but no his parents pulled him out of school. our class never focused on the religion in this book,we never focused on the swears.my entire class, and almost evryone in our school was outraged that they pulled this book off the shelves, don't think that just because we have one family in bedford who beleives in censorship we all do

  • c'mon! what the heck is this?!

  • The first Christians and even Jesus were socialists maybe even communists. They shared everything.

  • i love how no one can study the poor working class of this country in a holistic manner without being labeled as "anti-capitalists". It's like when kids have the dogmatic argument "you're an idiot, no you are". As for the language... or whatever... yes that may be appropriate reason not to teach it in a high school. "we cant teach the kids anything that questions the status quo because obtaining critical reason is a baaaaad thing." pfffffff

  • Americans...

  • It's a freaking book, for crying out loud! Why do they care so much about what other people read/write about?

  • What they fail to realize is that Jesus was a communist, probably the first communist. If you read the sermon on the mount and the moral code of the founder of Communism, you would find they are identical. Also if you read the book of Acts, you would find that Paul and the apostles created a communistic community where private ownership was abolished and wealth was shared and money was distributed to each according to their deeds.

  • Since when is 'precocious socialist' synonymous with being a bum? I read Nickel and Dimed when I was in BHS's Personal Finance class and I have yet to burn any churches

  • If they made a movie of the Bible, it could contain extreme violence, genocide, nudity, rape, incest, incestuous rape, etc!

  • @Ironfistconsumerist The bible is not a book I would place in child's hands. In fact, if I had my way, I would prosecute anyone who handed it to them as severely as you would for handing a child porn. Neither of which are even close to the severity of buying kids cigarettes.....lol?

  • @Ironfistconsumerist It boggles my mind that he didn't see the hypocrisy when said that @ 0:49

  • only in america.. get a f*cking grip, theres no reason to believe jesus did anything else but drink , theres no evidence to support that jesus was even a man! that is how stupid this belief is. taking people to court over a book because it states things that simply cannot be refuted by evidence. hesus may have been a nice person or a drunk , the only way to find out is to go into the past and to ask her

  • I didn't know that Jesus was capitalist!

  • In fairness, Jesus was a socialist. Christians would know that if they ever read the bible.

  • @JRSnodgrassOfficial " In fairness, Jesus was a socialist. Christians would know that if they ever read the bible. "

xtians are not known for their fairness nor their ability to read AND understand. They are historically and presently, to be fair, known for their savagery. E.g., xtians keep telling our children that they are born really really bad and have only a 5% chance of fixing the problem. Yeah, that's the ticket to a healthy society. Thanks for your comment.

  • @JRSnodgrassOfficial at least... you can actually say communist

    but what do they know

  • @JRSnodgrassOfficial In fairness, Jesus was an ALCOHOLIC, Christians would know that if they ever read the bible.

  • It's one book on a reading list. Here in Canada, we have a book by Timothy Findley in which the main character gets raped. Yes, it's graphic, but it's just literature.

  • Lol they want it gone even though the merit outweighs the bad. Is funny the christians are against that considering they use that same logic to promote the bible. They ignore or omit all the murder, genocide, slavery, honor rape, animal sacrifice, and pagan rituals because they say the general message of love outweighs the bad. They don't have the right to reject it on that principle. People like this make my head hurt.

  • Jesus was a zombie who came back to life from the dead.

I'd shoot him in the head to make sure he didn't bite me if i ever saw him.

  • I'm so glad I live in the UK. I feel embarrassed for normal intelligent Americans after watching videos like this.

  • These guys are so fuckin' funny. I dont know how they breathe, what with all that hypocrisy in the air.

  • Lol. Look at all these people wasting their time.

  • THEN DONT BELIEVE THE BOOK! You cant ban books you dont agree with!

  • When someone works for less pay than she can live on she has made a great sacrifice for you The working poor are in fact the major philanthropists of our society. They neglect their own children so that the children of others will be cared for; they live in substandard housing so that other homes will be shiny and perfect; they endure privation so that inflation will be low and stock prices high. To be a member of the working poor is to be an anonymous donor, a nameless benefactor, to everyone

  • The book is about Orwellian economics which keep people dumb and poor. The criticism of religion is how faith is used. Now I think they are making something out of nothing. If you have a problem read the book if you don't like it read something else. I mean kids need to be exposed to lots of ideas and they should question the world they're being raised in. I hate how Fox News doesn't even go into the details of what the book is about but focus on 2 lines on Jesus when the message is so much more

  • Wasn't Jesus drunken bum AND gay??

  • that guy with the moustache speak the absolute truth about on this issue. damn fundie hypocrits

  • Lmfao. Kids home schooled? He's going to be even dumber than his parents.

  • I read this book awhile ago and don't recall Jesus even being mentioned. So they found one line where she was being sarcastic and now they want to ban the book? I think that's an excuse, and they want to ban it because it might make their kids realize that it's hard being poor and hey maybe welfare isn't so bad.

  • Jesus was gay and he hung out with his 12 boyfriends, and one chick (who was known for her "pegging" abilities). The group paraded themselves in sandals and dresses. with long hair, from city to city. They liked to oil their feet, and kissed each other and dined on fish, artisan bread, and wine...I think the devil was Jesus' ex-boyfriend who was a little jealous Jesus could move on so fast with so many.

  • LOL at this. Thank G-O-D I don't think or act like these simpletons. There's MUCH more to life than your religion people, get a hobby.

  • Whaaa, waaaaaaaaa.......

  • I the story of Jesus is so weak that you can't question it? Religion all religion should be questioned. Sencership is wrong and you don't have a right not to be offended. How will this kid make it in life if he is alowed to run anytime someone has the opposite opinion.

  • I thought Atheists didn't want religion taught in their schools? Or is religion as a topic only acceptable when it is mocked, or when religious people are offended?

Sounds like you guys have some serious personal problems.

Most of you radical atheists are no different from radical Christians who need to offend somebody in the name of your beliefs.

  • @OCPRS no most atheist don't want religion in science class, but religous studied classes and sociology is alright.

  • uh, why are they offended by this when the bible confirms he was a drunken bum?

  • Enough said at the end. A book cannot be judged by one or two lines within it. I've read that book, actually. It's not anti-religious.

  • @evilotakuneko hah it's painfully close to judging a book by it's cover...

  • If it had talked about Muhammed, the Christians wouldn't have gotten all uppity. Stupid hypocritical fucks.

  • @MansonFan64

Why are Christians responsible for defending Muhammad and Islam? Using your logic, maybe you should be defending these Christians. But being the moron you are, you probably didn't think about that.

Speaking of Muhammad in a negative way or depicting him has caused violent protests and even murders by outraged Muslims. This is what you want Christians defending? Seriously, you are a douchebag.

  • @OCPRS I was merely stating that if you want someone to respect your belief in a deity they you should respect other people's beliefs in other deities. I don't care either way. Christians are responsible for many wars and other atrocities which by comparison are incredibly worse than anything the muslims have pretty much ever done.

  • @MansonFan64

That was by far the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

  • @OCPRS

You've obviously never heard the story of the Magical Zombie Carpenter who demands credulity, and oh, he created the universe.

    That story is even dumber.

but schools should not be allowed to say that.

  • @rubberbaby00

Zombie Carpenter? You sound dumber than your comment. Have a nice day douchebage.

  • Watch "The Life of Brian" and always look on the bright side of life (or death)

    TheLukeStein you got it....

  • yeah, I'm sorry but if you make a movie based on the bible... quoting it, it would most certainly be rated mature... anyway, even christians must learn to live with other people criticising them and their religion since they often turn to such means towards atheists or muslims. hopefully not all christians are as hypocritic as Fox News and their fucktard friends...

  • All over one passage.

That reminds me of the passages in Exodus..........praise be to the lord!

  • Oh butt hurt christians, why don't you follow the bible and burn the author for a witch. It's in the Bible!

  • So if you're offended by a book, can't you just...not read the book? Why do these people ALWAYS insist on regulating what everyone else can do because of their own personal feelings? I'm offended by Glenn Beck. Can I get him banned?

  • @AceSkepTik well... it seems that the high school is forcing people to read it...

  • @AceSkepTik Cause Christians think they rule the world. It's as simple as that.

  • @AceSkepTik This is a book apparently being taught in a school. Obviously, it is impractical to simply not read it, since that would result in a failing grade.

  • @AceSkepTik shut your mouth you fool. this is in a school book dummy!

  • a kid his age being offended by something in a book? what is this world coming to

  • 0:50 "If they made a Movie and were faithful to the book, he would not be old enough to see it"

What about Passion Of The Christ?

  • @AstraVex Passion of the Christ is not following the bible.

  • The Mohammed argument is laughable. "They're unreasonable so we can be too so nah".

  • I think it shows weakness when you cause controversy because your belief system is challenged.

  • Well, the book is obviously not worth the paper its printed on, if you can't get by in America, you fail at life. Ripping on jesus is probably the only good line in the whole book.

You definitely shouldn't take finance lessons from anyone on a public salary.

There needs to be an immigration exchange program. All these people who "can't get by in America" sign up, and they trade places with people from other countries who want to come here. Then everybody will be happy. :)

  • That's actually a really good book. The religious references are extremely tangential to the point, and if we take the Bible as an accurate depiction of Jesus' life, he was obviously a socialist and a vagrant. The bible even has him drinking wine, though he was apparently not any kind of alcoholic. The one line they quote and object to seems to be pretty accurate.

But that wasn't the point of the book at all. It is about an american system that keeps the poor from any chance of success.

  • See? It's not good enough for these people just to home school their own kid because of their narrow-minded nonsense; they have to try and make sure that NO students can read the book. Knowledge naturally expands; the days of "See Jane Run" are over. We're going to either have to become more sophisticated than this, or start wearing swastika armbands...

  • Screw them these people are freaks. They should be taking out to sea and drowned for the betterment of all mankind. I don't want to know that that whining baby retard is wondering the streets of my world looking to be offended by everything that touches his precious jes, and his parents ought to be ashamed of themselves. They would be if they weren't cretins. Fuck these christains.

  • Anit-Capitalist is the same as anti-Christian apparently

  • @0WarXHawk0 duh.... the law.

  • I read Nickel and Dimed a few years ago and don't even remember the line about Jesus. The book is about low income jobs, not religion. These right wing creationists cannot stand to hear about the need for labor reform in this country. They do not care about the poor.
