I joined a few years back and loved it till they recruited some of the most retarded people ive ever met in my life so i got out other then that it was great.

why don't they try to get help from the state and at least uniforms don't it all really have to be out of there own pockets? after 9/11 seems there was founding for all that asked?.

I would give them a new try but its hard to find how to rejoin lol

Are guys switching to the ACUs like other State Defense Forces (ie Georgia, Alaska, Texas, etc.)?

Probably eventually, but that's up to our Adjutant General. We estimate it will cost about $300 to $400 per soldier to switch (uniform, cover, boots, Gortex, etc.) and that'll be out of our own pockets since Ohio has serious budget problems. However, the great thing about the military is that you always get the last word, and that's usually "Yes, sir!"

I thought about joining, but I have a personal belief that men are supposed to have long hair and a beard. I thought the training alone would be very useful to have, but oh well.

Remember, everyone works on getting old or dies trying. Most of us suffer from incurable cases of sense-of-duty. As you serve with our sons, daughters, brother & sisters, Marine, you will do so with our support & prayers. And, when you retire from active duty, we'll have a slot for you in our TO & E. OOO-rah!

I came across harsh in my initial post. My apologizes. I admire your committment to the state and the nation. Thanks again for your service. I only wish they'd use you guys in a more useful capacity that at Air Shows. You guys deserve better IMO.
