1:12 in japan, when they draw an umbrella with a boy and girls name underneath, it means theyre in love. similar to kids in the west carving hearts on trees.
Wwwooo this 'only yesterday' is my favourtie movie to learn from her past year is her friends school and study... i can say she still remeber those important or not... but i watch that she never seen her old friends and family anymore.....sadly am i right?
I made a promis to myself to watch every single movie from the Ghibli Studios and this one is one of the ones I haven't seen yet, I'm looking forward to the most. The plot sounds amazing<3
@gamesDAMNED My boyfriend actually bought it for me some days ago. I've watched half of it, but didn't have time to watch the rest of it that day. I can, however, say that it is a very cute story :D I like the childhood-parts the best :)
@Eternalsummersong No it is not, in the United States. Disney can not release it because of an old quarrel, they wanted to censor out parts of the movie. They did not think it suits that girls talk about their "problems", probably to do with religion. You will understand, or you understand how stupid it is to not release it =) But sub is out long ago.
@Swe0DivX: Oh CRAP! I can't find it subbed I looked on Amazon..I wonder if Funimation could pick it up? Maybe the girls talks had to do with our monthly visiter? Or sex maybe? I doubt it religion though.
Ok don't kill me which you will but what I really disliked about this film was the antagonists dimples. I mean I thought she was 27, not 47! They make her look so old. It irritates me, sorry, I do like the film mind. :)
Never seen it what's it about? I have watched a lot of Studio Ghibli movies and someone told me its by them and does feel like a Ghibli movie. Reminds me of the Girl who leaped through time.
@valkyrine It's good. It's in... a third-person perspective - in the sense that the perspective is coming from a person thinking about their past. I guess that's called second-person? Sorry, never paid attention in middle school English. Anyways, it's just a woman that's going somewhere to do something, and on the way - and at her destination, too, she has memories of her childhood (trying not to spoil anything lol). It's really good, just watch it.
@IAmSuchANerdLol I think that would make the film first person. Those notions of first and third person don't actually apply to film, only to prose. It's easy to remember though: 1st person is when the story is told from the perspective of a character referring to themselves e,g: "I went round Sally's house but she was out, her mum said she was studying, but i knew better."
@IAmSuchANerdLol Third person is when the story is told from the perspective of an omniscient (all knowing) narrator, e.g "Jack called in at Sally's house, where her mother said she was out, but he knew better." Second person isn't used very often, but is when the action is told from the perspective of the reader, e.g: "You go round sally's house." This is mostly used in those choose your own adventure stories. Anyway sorry to bore you but i thought you might find it interesting!

The end is so sad, the music makes it difficult to keep the tears inside. Wish they could do a sequel.

@squirtlebubblebeam2 In some loose English definitions, yeah. But when Japanese people talk about アニメ they are referring to animated cartoon series.
