  • im trying to find that song that keeps going around the world aroun the world for like 3 mins and this is what shows up when i type it in WTF

  • That little portable sounds pretty good.I just uploaded the same tune off my $20 school player into the computer. Thanks,it sounded great.

  • Beautiful gramophone. Terrible carpet ;-)

  • @ThatFamousDogNipper That is a rug, dude.

  • Al Bowley is my favourite voice of this era -I have all his records on disc but id love to get hold of the 78s for my HMV 145 wind up!

  • The 78s are not that hard to get. You have to look for any records with Ray Noble and his Orchestra with vocals. Chances are it'll be Al Bowlly himself on vocals. Sometimes this is noted on the label, sometimes not.

  • Thanks for that, since posting I have managed to get quite a few Al Bowley records on ebay I was suprised on how high the bidding was on some titles! Ive also just had my HMV model 145 serviced sounds great now the clunking of the spring winding down has gone!

I have been told to watch out for Durium records as they are supposed to be good is that right?

  • I've got a blue 101 and they are fantastic. The sound that these beauts put out is amazing.

  • I love this Bowlly track. Very sentimental.

  • JOSEPH SCHMIDT'S SONG

  • Blue is Beautiful!

  • Great record quality by young Al and nice 101. I ahve just repaired my 101 to full operating condition. long live gramophones!!

  • Hi

I have a question. Do you have to change a needdle everytime after listening one record side in those hmv portable gramophones ?

  • Yes, these are single play needles. Fortunately they are still being made.

  • Fantastic! And thanks again ;) YF, J.

  • Thank you for this great Bowlly version! Such a fine gramophone and excellent sound!

  • I have this one to of Henry hall and the BBC dance orchestra. I love this tune!!! This is maby a

fimilair tune to me, but never heard of Al Bowlly with Ray Noble and his orchestra. And what a great HMV 101. I love bleu!!! Thanks.
