genius - you do this video with images of life in the enlgihtenment for the sole purpose of illustrating go4 lyrics - then you make them completely unreadable.... wtf??
@123annyboo IMDb says that the converse were an intentional ananchromism in order to convey that Marie Antionette was just like a modern teenage girl.
@champagnerocker who the hell would mistake that as intentional? that's giving the film makers an comprehensible inanity that just doesnt make sense, what a fuckin dick
Hey we are putting on a tribute event for Ari Up in Bristol, UK (30.07.11) with Tessa Pollitt, Hollie Cook, Viv Albertine, Adrian Sherwood and Mark Stewart! Please watch our ad youtube.com/watch?v=qE5BCjxH5gM and check out our facebook event if you are interested? Big Love
Just to make things clear, GoF DOES NOT have the rights on this album (EMI does) therefore they did not necessarily agreed with this being used in the ad.
'sell out, maintain the interest'..... if they hadnt 'sold out' for the xbox commercial, as you people seem to rag on about, i wouldnt have heard of this cool song. i am not the only one. it 'maintains the interest.' .theses guys are 50 years old+. They deserve some recognition and the money from subsequent adverts.
who cares? i actually just saw the commercial, and was very surprised to hear this song on there, but look what it did, it made me look it up again, and remember how i used to listen to these guys' great songs, and it will probably make others who don't know it at all look it up to discover it, what's wrong with that? best of all, it put some change into a great bands pockets, they've grown up, they aren't idealistic any more, m p t t
Really? This was used at an XBox advertisement? Didn't know it, but many great songs have been used in a completely wrong way. I never watch TV and online ads anyway. And Kinect sucks so bad...
It's funny how this song is used to sell Kinect and the lyrics would make fun of the very idea of buying a Kinect. Somebody who created those ads just heard the opening riff and thought "That's perfect!" and had fifteen million meetings and coffee breaks and went back to their blissful, bourgeoise life.
@DudeinGA is it possible that the marketing department person is a huge fan of the band? oh...that wouldn't help you feel like you know some big secret about the world
trust me man, the band has grown up, you should too
The band grew up now at last? I thought they did it 30 years ago with their next album.
Growing up may be a term used for being less creative. Also pop music never was mature. If you grow up you stop singing and become a family man.
It's ok to gather some money in times of global economic crisis, money is always desirable But i am not willing to pay them for nothing. They should give me a product. Or better go to watch Eurovision. Would you?
You don't understand we are as capitalists as it gets. You offer no or a bad product to the global market, then you have to be removed from it and another worker more skilled and willing must take your place to satisfy the consumers. Unrealistic/Idealistic?? Ha ha ha ...
@DudeinGA reminds me of a shoe commercial that had the song "Anecdote" by Ambulance Ltd. Lyrically it didn't fit AT ALL! It was a "Yay let's buy shoes!", but the lyrics are so melancholy and alienating. As you said, "ooh catchy opening riff, good enough for me". Oh the irony, in both cases.
The converse were put in the movie to represent that Marie Antoinette was still young. Anyway, I think the line "dream of the perfect life" is "Dream of the bourgeois life" pronounced bor•zua
@ArtDVike: Yeh, I saw that ad too, and was startled to hear GoF in it. To be fair, though, 99.9999999% of those who saw the ad have no idea what that song is.

@ArtDVike I totally agree with you . They BASTARDIZED the song , but still a great song.
jfiao 1 year ago
@ArtDVike i wouldve never known about it if I never saw the ad. Playing the song to shots of Kirsten Dunst probably FURTHER bastardizes it I'm sure.
