That Camaro would have had more distance on him if he stayed in it on that wheelstand. Probably a safe bet he let out a bit though, and still ran the RX7 down. Pretty close run.
Muscle can handle just fine... and when does it matter how well you can handle a turn? you dont street race on a curvy road... it light to light... and most importantly rice burners are ugly... and american is not... and that's all that matters
@AirRick95 - American Cars "the old Muscle cars." Are better designed and the new muscle cars SUCK. and it does matter if it could handle on a turn or not, not all racing that involves Muscle is only in a straight line, and Rice Burners, might look ugly and what not to do with a car, but they handle better, and can tune up just like a Muscle, so whats your point? Thats all that Matters? NO FUCKEN WAY.
@AirRick95 - still a little slack in acceleration, and besides I do like V8 muscle cars but I more care about surviving this bad economy rather than go fast so I'm with economy cars for right now. I just like saving money for right now. Tune Up something later on. peace.
@montecarlomayne My point is that we don't know what would have happened if they had both been stock. You can't say "imports beat domestics at their own game" if the cars are both modified. Anything could be under the hood of either car.
@swan467 I said "can" beat. Implying that domestics aren't unbeatable machines. I like muscle too but nobody can call themselves a car person if they can't appreciate good engineering and tuning from either side.
@montecarlomayne Of course! I'm not even saying the muscle would have won, I love all cars. I even enjoy the sound of fart cannons on 4cylinders. But it's 50/50 because some domestics can beat imports at their own game as well. Your first comment said imports can beat domestics and still turn. So I comprehended that as you meaning imports are better. I guess I mis-comprehended huh?
@ironhead460 The best I've seen a naturally aspirated DOHC, 4 valves/cylinder rapped to the nuts 4 cylinder do is around 300-ish HP, about what a run-of-the-mill stock small block chevy will do at 5500rpm with almost twice the torque. That always put it into perspective for me at least, and why I can't afford to build 4 cylinders.
@Curveball This isn't 1969. You're probably just pissed these new fangled imports were fast AND economical. Oh, and jealous at how they can get 150 HP out of an 1.6 liter I4, as opposed 200 HP out of a 5.7 liter V8. Get with the times.
@INEEDNAWZZZ That what? An evo can make power close to a v-8? Is that what your trying to prove?. Or that it's impressive that a 2.0 is almost as powerfull as a modern v-8? or your trying to prove that a 4 cylinder is better than a v-8? than your fighting and up hill battle as it is. Their is no replacement for deplacement.
@Lukeatone The point I'm trying to make is simple; an engine with 4.4 litres and 4 cylinders less is only about 60 HP off the V8. So why can't the American's get more power out of a smaller engine?
@INEEDNAWZZZ Because it would be too impractical to drive around a 600-700hp camaro in the street. Not everyone you buy the car. No American would buy a camaro, mustang, challenger ect if it have a four cylinder turbo. Big v-8's screem American and if you want to make 600hp it's achivable with just a blower and a proper camshaft. Power is their to be made on a v-8 cheaply because of the Litres or CID. making a 700hp 4cylinder is hard and cost easly 4-5 times as much as a 700hp v-8.
@Lukeatone Dude why are you talking about 4 bangers the mazda that you just saw on the video has a rotary engine wich is really easy to achieve 700 hp or more plus you can make 600 hp and more aout of a 6 cylinder engine and a 4 cylinder engine i drive a 1996 mitsubishi eclipse gsx and i changed the head pistons and i got high performance skunk 2 cams and gears and 1 big t3 turbonetics turbo and my 4 cylinder engine makes about 800 hp i be smoking muscle cars all day every day all cost me 7000$
Respond to this video... an evo can make 276 hp and you can tune it to get 1000 hp and it has an inline 4 engine you just think v8 are the bast because you are probably a back woods red neck who probably grew up watching smoky and the bandit and group around muscle cars that youre tine little redneck brain cannot comprehend that inlines can get alot of horse power did you also no that V engines have a minor power inefficiency while an Inline engine has none v engines suck
@halokid130 Your going into a engine block, crankshaft, connecting rods, pistons, piston rings, cylinder head, valves, camshafts. valve springs, valve spring retainers, intake, turbocharger, intercooler, fuel injectors, computer, fuel pump, fuel regulator, upgraded sensors( MAF TPS CPS) ect. my point is that your going to need at least $50,000 plus. It's more that a simple "Tune". Not to mention the drive line that you have to upgrade to handle the power
@INEEDNAWZZZ okay so im pretty sure the evo comes turboed... so youre comparing a n/a motor to a turbocharged motor... also what 4 cyl has a 4.4l engine?
@halokid130 Did you know that for a given displacement inline engines are heavier that V engines? For example an all aluminum V8 is only about 80 to 100 lbs heavier than aluminum 4 cylinder. Did you also know that the most powerful production automotive engines in the world are V type engines? V8, V10, V12, W16(a V inside a V) Not any inline engines at the top of the list.
Maybe you need to re-think the inline better than V type engine thing.
@177SCmaro Yes i know the inline6 is heavy but a price to pay to get displacement and better fuel economy the only reason they stoped making the inline6 was because it was to bit for the small car trend of this days but i garantee you that any cars back in the 90s and 80s with inline6 engine could beat the shit out of a v type engine
@halokid130 lol really? The best straight 6 to come out of the 90's was arguably the 2jz and it's a boat anchor compared to an all aluminum V8. 3 liters and 500lbs and stock it made at most what in the late 90's, about 320HP with a sequential twin turbos? Compare that to a late 90's Corvette with an all aluminum V8 weighing around 470lbs and it made 345HP without turbos. They were also rated at 28mpg.
Looks more like the V types were "beatng the shit out of" the inlines back then to me.
@177SCmaro inlines ,rotarys, boxers are beast especially the inline v types just suck they are hard to work and you got buy more cams for it thats why i changed my nissan 350z v6 engine to an 2jz inline 6 500 hp
@halokid130 You swapped a completely different engine into a car, yet you can't even manage complete sentences? You might want to work on that before making grandiose claims, it might help your creditability.
Look I've already outlined the significant disadvantages inline engines like the 2jz have compared with a v type engine like a V8. It's pretty obvious that's not sinking in and I feel like I'm talking to a child or at least someone very young.
@177SCmaro im 23yr ok and yes my spelling sucks cause i dont wright alot i still think inlines are better i have also listed the disadvantages of a v engine like it waste gas it has a minor power deficiency they are hard to work onthey have twice the cams as an inline engine and lets not forget that v engines have more lobes on the crankshaft than inline engines do to its vibration one thing i do have to admit tho v engines can get lots of horse power quickly
@halokid130 ...uh-huh. I was going to point out all the reasons you're wrong and explain why most high performance cars have V types engines. But got halfway through typing it out when I realized it would be a waste of time for both of us.
All I'm going to say is you are misinformed about some of the advantages and disadvantages of both engine types. There is a very good reason almost all high performance cars use V type engines.
When will the day be when Nickleback fans will relies that Camaro's arn't that fast...
