Health insurance is essential to being a productive member of society. It's as basic as clean water.

Those that DON'T think OTHERS should have what THEY personally have....will not win out this time. There are more of us than you!

Go to London, the banking and insurance industries dictate it all. And, the money made in pharma . . . I just called about a home equity loan and to my surprise with all of the FED RESERVE lowering of interst rates have found out it is a SCAM. Interest rates are higher than ever before!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear Sir/Madam, After working hard for over 25 years and built a decent life for my self and my family, because of and due to the last 10 years of persistent epileptic seizures, I lost my wife, my home, my job, my car and my driving license to become destitute homeless. Americans should know that HR 676 will cost less and provide complete health care benefits. Workers will have freedom to change jobs without fear of losing health care coverage, and employers will not be shackled by health care costs. It is the single best thing we can do for our economy.

dalegambill, freeing employers from health care costs makes sense. Allowing workers to change jobs without changing insurance makes sense too (and would work well with the first point.) Providing health care as an entitlement to every American, as a means of implementing the first two points, carries with it a host of other serious problems to which I am opposed.

Speaking of pharmaceuticals; why does the FDA require clinical trials to prove safety AND efficacy? Do consumers actually buy ineffective products? (I.e., cars that don't run, homes that don't shelter, drugs that don't work, etc.) Establishing efficacy adds about 40% (Dr. Gratzer's study) to the cost of bringing a drug to market.

Another interesting topic is Prilosec vs. Nexium (The Purple Pill); Dr. Gratzer addresses in his book why the same pharma company would produce two products that do the same thing equally well...and then mega advertise direct to consumers "Nexium - The Purple Pill"

In canada we have just got a new drug that may treat cancer cells and leaves the good cells, and we have social healthcare? Just because socail helathcare exists it doesnt mean research will stop. I will admit my understanding is not comprehensive, but from reading your comments, I would venture that yours is not either. I read Dr. Gratzer's book; I'm also reading Dr. Don Sloan's book "The Corporate Takeover of Healthcare in America" It's easy to see the flaws in Sloan's analysis. So why would I trust his solutions?

I'm a Canadian, I've just read that HR 676, bill. Where do I sign to get something like that up here? Our provincial systems are routinely mismanaged, but "federal roads are always well-paved" if you get my drift.

I disagree, jblanch3. The "world of for-profit capitalism" HAS NOT "wormed its way into our health care system." The profit incentive has always been in every part of the American economy - healthcare, auto industry, farming, etc. The problems don't stem from the profit incentive. The problems are multi-faceted. And it's an oversimplification of the problem to blame the profit incentive.

There is a mixture of TRUTH and deluded INNACURACIES in this video. Read Dr. David Grazter's book "The Cure: How Capitalism Can Save American Health Care" to understand the cause of our current system's problems, what is NOT the solution (i.e., national universal health care)and how free-market CAPITALISM fuels INNOVATION to supply solutions.
