I also feel that traditional proofs of God on philosophical grounds are unconvincing, although I'd agree with with those who say it's not a priori less reasonable to assume God exists than that he doesn't. I feel better grounded with the bible record: God intervenes in history, and offers these as proof he is the real God who really is .. something particular.

@atheistdawn Read Luke, he wasn't selling anything. He wasn't even a Christian when he wrote his report of what was happening at the time so you can't say he was trying to push his beliefs on anyone. The truth is that Jesus was (and is) God in the flesh. How else can you account for the miracles He performed? Most importantly of all, ressurection can't be faked. If Jesus isn't God, then no one is.

@atheistdawn Luke was a professional, highly educated and enbiased man who was reporting to a Roman official named "Theophilus". He would have been able to spot whether the "stories" reported by the eye-witnesses he interviewed were lies or deluded fantasy. It also would have most likely gotten him excecuted had he reported something that wasn't true. Clearly, there was overwhelming evidence at the time. Jesus wasn't "long dead" at the time as Luke got most of his information from eye-witnesses.

Luke's gospel ( or whoever wrote his gospel) was written between 70 AD-100 AD.....so jesus was dead from between 37 and 67 years at the time. thats a long time dead, as for 'eye witnesses' who where they?...........
@atheistdawn Non-Christian historians agree that Jesus existed. He is an historical figure, the only question is whether or not He was who He claimed to be. Luke's writing are estimated at being written between 40-60AD, which is not long after Jesus' death at all. Why would anyone bother promoting something they knew was a lie when there was no gain? On the contrary, it usually meant they would be killed in horrific ways. Why would they bother telling the Gospel if it wasn't the truth?

@MsQuoheleth. Thank you my sister! I know it sounds unbelievable, but when I was at my most sick, I DID call on Jesus, and actually I saw Jesus and Mother Mary appear right in front of me. Then my addiction was over. I never used again. I pray that the addiction never comes back. It sounds so crazy, but I was REALLY sick, and near death. I was seeing the light, the tunnel, etc. But the sight of Jesus really straightened me up. Nothing before worked, but only the strength of God saved.

While I was trying to find the energy to resist cocaine, I played this song over and over, plus Mighty to Save and Hosanna..all from Hillsong. And when I called on Jesus, he came to me. As the song lyrics go, "If can't strength to carry on, called on Jesus and all things are possible." I was absolutely headed to death, but once I played these songs and read the Bible cover to cover, my craving completely disappeared. It was a miracle.

@atheistdawn What you say is true. [Aside: the claim that religion is isn't self-correcting are disproven by e.g. the Reformation]. I also feel that traditional proofs of God on philosophical grounds are unconvincing, although I'd agree with with those who say it's not a priori less reasonable to assume God exists than that he doesn't. I feel better grounded with the bible record: God intervenes in history, and offers these as proof he is the real God who really is .. something particular.

@Sojourneerahh we have a saying....... assumptions are the mother of all fuck ups. for even if you assume a god must exist, that does not tell you which god, or that the god is good, or cares. in fact the leap of faith is far greater from god exists to my god exists, than it is from the assumption a god exists in the first place. i have been debating on here for over a year, and not one person has even tried to assert their choice of god exists, only that a god exists.........

@atheistdawn Read Luke, he wasn't selling anything. He wasn't even a Christian when he wrote his report of what was happening at the time so you can't say he was trying to push his beliefs on anyone. The truth is that Jesus was (and is) God in the flesh. How else can you account for the miracles He performed? Most importantly of all, ressurection can't be faked. If Jesus isn't God, then no one is.

@atheistdawn Luke was a professional, highly educated and enbiased man who was reporting to a Roman official named "Theophilus". He would have been able to spot whether the "stories" reported by the eye-witnesses he interviewed were lies or deluded fantasy. It also would have most likely gotten him excecuted had he reported something that wasn't true. Clearly, there was overwhelming evidence at the time. Jesus wasn't "long dead" at the time as Luke got most of his information from eye-witnesses.

Luke's gospel ( or whoever wrote his gospel) was written between 70 AD-100 AD.....so jesus was dead from between 37 and 67 years at the time. thats a long time dead, as for 'eye witnesses' who where they?...........

@atheistdawn Non-Christian historians agree that Jesus existed. He is an historical figure, the only question is whether or not He was who He claimed to be. Luke's writing are estimated at being written between 40-60AD, which is not long after Jesus' death at all. Why would anyone bother promoting something they knew was a lie when there was no gain? On the contrary, it usually meant they would be killed in horrific ways. Why would they bother telling the Gospel if it wasn't the truth?

Who would live a life like that, a life of fear, persecution and brutal ends, simply to be noticed? What a childish notion. Paul died in 64AD and his death not being mentioned in Luke or Acts shows that both of these writings were from before 64AD. Luke was likely written in 40-50AD, Acts btween 50-60AD

It doesn't matter if you can or can't sing.... it doesn't matter who or what you are... as long as it is JESUS who YOU are worshiping.. It is WORTH it. Just remember that JESUS died to save us and in return we should offer ourselves as living sacrifices by following JESUS in every aspect of our lives. @MsQuoheleth. Thank you my sister! I know it sounds unbelievable, but when I was at my most sick, I DID call on Jesus, and actually I saw Jesus and Mother Mary appear right in front of me. Then my addiction was over. I never used again. I pray that the addiction never comes back. It sounds so crazy, but I was REALLY sick, and near death. I was seeing the light, the tunnel, etc. But the sight of Jesus really straightened me up. Nothing before worked, but only the strength of God saved.

While I was trying to find the energy to resist cocaine, I played this song over and over, plus Mighty to Save and Hosanna..all from Hillsong. And when I called on Jesus, he came to me. As the song lyrics go, "If can't strength to carry on, called on Jesus and all things are possible." I was absolutely headed to death, but once I played these songs and read the Bible cover to cover, my craving completely disappeared. It was a miracle.

The version in the Bible is an edited version of the original. It discusses how a young man, naked but for a linen covering, expressed his love for Jesus and stayed with him at his place all night. @Justiricasey2 i don't admit my defeat, i just cannot give to you proof about the miracles in the Bible. Believe in Jesus, repent of your a lot of sins and you will see the miracles happening in your life. If the blind don't want to believe in me i cannot give to him proofs about the things that i see or that the light exist. my friend go and repent of your iniquits and God will reveal Himself for you!! Jesus wants to save you!! you need Jesus in your haert. Go and serve Jesus, and He will open your eyes, He heals the blinds when He was in the earth and will heal you too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been to one of Zschech's concert and she's a terrific singer indeed. She brought me to tears when she performed "Shout to the Lord" (and not even a Christian!). It was even better than the CD's version. Love her voice!

I'm wondering whether you 'Hillsong' church going people are truly CONVERTED?? Are you truly GOOD Christians???? I HOPE SO! REMEMBER that Jesus went out to look for a "LOST SHEEP" - when he had to leave all the 99 sheep behind, in order to look for that one lost soul Jesus said that you should LOVE one another and be also of one MIND and ACCORD etc!
