I'm not aware of too many democrats who did not support the Afgan war.
The Iraq war was a different thing entirely. To try to condemn someone for supporting the one while rejecting the other is like trying to compare apples to that fruit the poets hate so much.
This is gut check time for america. No real liberal or sane person who knows what Obama and his puppeteers are doing supports him. It's time to wake up.
Obama, huge dissappointment. Should have voted for Nader.
But god it sticks in the throat when these Fox viewing idiots call him a 'radical'. Wake the hell up, he's the same guy you voted in for two terms running!
I'm not sure it's the goal of the libertarians to avoid the local elections, but simply by default their numbers and grass roots support isn't established well enough in the electoral system.
On almost all levels, the whole system is bias towards a two party system.
I agree, ANY third party needs to have a clearly defined mission (and stick with it) to gain support and momentum from the ground up.
Thank you. Liberals spent 6 years asking Bush about the exit strategy of Iraq. Therefore it's ok for me to ask about the exit strategy for Afghanistan. Liberals have yet to answer me on this matter.
The principle difference between Obama and Bush is the adoration they're given while both vigorously engaged in the act of scuttling the ship of state.
It is a mistake to associate the Tea Party movement with the GOP. That is a "progressive" tactic & a poor one.
I left the GOP 5 years ago when it was unavoidably clear that it cared nothing for the American people. Having attended multiple tea party events, I find more anger directed at the GOP than the Dems. The GOP pretended to be conservative & betrayed its supporters, the Dems simply are what the are.
I left the GOP early this year since I felt lost in a party that was supposedly "conservative" but only to be stabbed in the back by bailouts, huge entitlement programs and huge Medicare spending. I only support Ron Paul type Republicans now or solid fiscal conservatives. Its such a shame.
No kidding with morons like Olbermann, Maddow and Grayson called us teabaggers, they are all mouthpieces for the hacks that are suppose to "represent" us.
Great post. Exactly what I have told people since Obama was pitted against McCain; that either candidate would promote the same policies from the prior (Bush's) administration.
It is not the candidate; presidents themselves are ceremonial figures, or puppets if you will, doing whatever their advisors tell them to do and what their sponsors demand.
Western nations are generally self serving. It doesn't matter who is in charge. If America isn't doing it, Britain will, if not them, then the Germans, or French, take your pick.
Obama, Bush, Chirac, Blair, Clinton, Sarkozy, Merkel, Gordon Brown, they're all cronies.
Nawledge1: That caught my eye. If you really are a liberal, as you say, you not only are one of the VERY few, but are such an endangered species, you're close to extinction. I suspect rather than a Liberal, you are an independent thinker.
Nawledge1: The problem with adopting any label is the companion expectation that the whole litany of the creed must be acquiesced to. Better to be an independent, makes 'em have to ask intelligent questions rather than cavalierly categorizing you after a 3 second evaluation. How do you define "Left"?
I consider myself Left in the most classical sense. I believe in capitalism, however, I oppose both government & private control of the economy. I don't support the Welfare State.
I'm vehemently anti racist(ON ALL SIDES), and multicultural in it's purest form. I'm against federal drug laws and legislation against gay marriage. I also support a higher standard for math & science when it comes to education.
I also support environmentalism and believe it's an important topic & issue to discuss.
Nawledge1: A capitalist economy needs some sort of rapproachment betwixt govenment and the private sector. Laissez Faire doesn't work nor does the socialist "Command" version. Power accumulates at the top in both instances.
Environmentalism as championed by Nixon was a needed noble cause. Much of today's movement invents absurd causes to pursue. This seems to be either anti-capitalist, a complete divorcement fom reality, or the growing of a very lucrative empire.
Nawledge1: Mathematics, Science and Engineering indeed need to have more importance. A good start would be to downgrade the pay of bureaucrats with but a Liberal Arts degree to entice more people to pursue a more difficult discipline. Eliminating professors and departments with little purpose than to indoctrinate their charges with anti-American ideas should deliver sufficient funding for math & science.
Jack couldn't agree with you more. Like Hoffman in New York who ran against a mainstream Republican, we need more Hoffmans competing against the Republican party. Doesn't matter even if they lose to a Democrat. At least its a step forward not allowing a RINO to take power ever again.
Nobody has the balls to be a little independent anymore, everyone just sticks to their party. If I were president, I would find a way to destroy the bi-partisan system.
personally i'm as right as they come, i think the only time Government should be involved in the private sector is when the companies abuse the citizens (such as the oil , credit card, and insurance companies.) Without setting bad precedence's like liberals are doing.
I agree tough that political parties, not closely monitoring public officials, corporate lobbying, and not haveing someone to enforce the Constitution has fucked the US in a bureaucracy of corporate controlled liers
As for the whole "fox news - Glenn Beck" comment. Ummm so should we just get our news from????
I think it's best that we listen to all of the voices and use discernment about what is true. After all ... should we only trust what we hear from one human source? I think not.
Right now you can't deny that GB is hitting on some of the main issues. So why throw the baby out with the bath water?
Some people are now saying "Lets reform the Republican Party" with Obama's entry to the Oval Office. I say forget both the Republicans and Democrats and lets reform ourselves. We have to be more responsible over our own lives and the hope that a reformed party or benevolent politicians are going to "change" everything is not just "hope" but out and out fantasy.
Sadly, you're probably right. The rules and laws for third parties are so slanted in favor of the republicrats that we will most likely end this only with a final physical stand against it.
Conspiracy777: For the office of President, and probably for most Governors, you are probably right. But for the two Houses of Congress and state and local offices, a third party could ascend and function rather well. That is, if the members would commit to the long term.
That's true. In reality, any third party would have to stand very clear on it's issues and be very united as well as show a level of resolve that the nation could trust in.
Back in the 90's, for those of you old enough to remember, the "contract with America" that the republican congressional candidates proposed (which they only came through with about 60% on) was what it took to connect with the voters.
I personally think that a well defined 3rd party could do the same thing.
Conspiracy777: Ronald Reagan and Bob Dole on the Capitol steps election eve 1980: They promised the American people to depart from the failed policies of the Dems. Reagan won in a landslide and Dole became the first Repub leader of the Senate in 30 years. Kennedy never would have beaten Nixon without transmitting to the people his vision for America. MLK rallied the conscience of America with his I have a dream speech.
But the Libertarian example of avoiding local elections won't work.
I'm not that fatalistic. I still have confidence in the people of this country. I know they are mostly asleep right now, but I still believe there is hope for us all.
Let's focus our energy on building up something good instead of talking about what "they've" done to us. We The People started this country and We The People can take it back. But we MUST learn what it is to be a sovereign person.
"A truly sovereign nation is a nation made up of truly sovereign individuals."
I still think that the best hope is to reform the republican party and get people like Graham OUT (and other big government politicians as well). We need TRUE conservatives in place and if the Republican party doesn't get it's act together and hold true to it's principles, we will have no choice but to back a third party.
So true and this is why I dont really trust the new wave of tea party goers. Its almost impossible to know if they are just protesting the defeat of McCain or really care about the massive spendings in washington half of which is the war spendings
THIS party goer does NOT support the war. Many of these people are Ron Paul supporters and MOST of them DON"T support the TRILLIONS of dollars we spend on being the world's police!
Sadly, the republican party has jumped on the tea party "movement" and tried to take the wheel in many cases.
They are simply hitching their wagon to the anti-establishment movement and hoping to get power back by default. Sadly, they might pull it off.
Oh no the most active of the tea party goers are republicans in disguise. They are the talk radio listening (heering Levin a know neocon) go along to get along bunch.. They would be the 1st to throw us off board once they get back in power.
The problem I see with the burgeoning movement is control talk radio still has on the conservatives we will need to take back america. They are all for the empire state and big military which RP is vehemently against. We will see how they treat him come 12
might pull it off? They will pull it off, that's the problem with this country! the left right paradigm, the little guy or the third party never gets any play or say on a national level! left wing right wing doesn't make a difference they're both on the same bird going in the same direction!
The one area I'd disagree would be the comment that conservatives regained their sanity. It is of my view that they have not regained their sanity, but that they're faking sanity. Let's see how far they keep their "sanity" when they regain power. Likely chances are, they'll do what Code Pink did.
Actually conservatives will never gain power.. and even if they do, power has its own way of corrupting the individuals who hold it. So unless you have a thousand clones of Ron Paul, it would not matter anyway. Face it - the system is f'ed and there is no way to fix it.
Would be nice, but I know they will. People are stupid. They will regain power through the failures of the liberals currently in power, much like the liberals who regained power through the failures of the conservatives previously in power and the people will continue to believe there's an answer in that.
Remember, all I said was that the conservatives would regain power. I never said the system would be fixed.
well, I don't hold this notion that people are stupid. They figure out things sooner or later. This is why every tyrant state has to take over public schools to teach crap like "One nation under god indivisible with liberty and justice for all" (none of which is actually true).
Partisanship is the very cause of me being a registered independent. I think George Washington had it right when he denounced the existence of political parties in his Farewell address that he game in 1796. Political parties are inward looking and only care about the advancement of the party even it is to the detriment of people and country.
It blows my mind how silent the left has gotten over the war issue. Code Pink was all over protesting the war, now that Obama is in they throw all their principles away. That tells me they are Democrats first and anti-war second. Cindy Sheehan is the only one left still protesting.
You are also right about how silent conservatives were when Bush was expanding government and running up huge deficits. What a world we live in.
Well, you did answer one question. It was asked during the tea parties, "Where were they the last 8 years?". Now we know. The same place war protesters are now.
he just needs an syndicated talk show....he's too good at what he does to be wasted getting nothing done in DC...better off waking ppl up to whats going on that kicking against the system from within
how about an internet radio show then? Less expense, fewer sponsors needed, ratings don't matter as much...I just want to be able to hear the man do his thing every day for a couple hours...I'd like to see him make a lot more money too...Maybe a book? He definitely has a way with words...I kept telling him he should be a speech writer for someone.
I think an syndication may not be such a bad idea.. although to maintain quality, Jack Hunter will have to be willing to give it up at a drop of a hat. Can't really say that is an easy thing to do.
Also it is probably better that he speaks for 10 minutes a week than 2 hours a day. The more you talk, the less you think and thinking good is just as good as talking good.
Most Tea Partiers did not like the Bush administration at all. It just took a little while for the momentum of the Ron Paul Rev. to roll along to the point where Tea Party events started taking place.
I love how the Left tries to act like intellectual elites, but in reality they are as bloodthirsty as the Neo-Cons! Thanks for staying true to Constitutional Conservatism SA!
