why didn't she do something like this on the show, but shortened? This shows emotion, personality, and a story while also displaying her obvious skill. Her solos were so frantic every time, this is more subdued, and it showcases her talent much better.

Umm... Good choreography =/= leg extensions and turns. Not that they're bad or anything, but that's not what makes a dance good. I kinda like Kayla's solos (although they are a little repetitive) because she DOESN'T fill them with tricks. We all know she can do them; she doesn't need to do a zillion pirouettes into a tilt. But, now they're starting to get old...

Point is, she's a beast.

How recent is this? I've watched several of her videos on YT and she has nice extension when she hold her poses, but frequently seems unsteady. Maybe it 's because she's very young in the videos? She doesn't look like an adolescent here, though. Her solo on Top 18 night also was wobbly in places.

I completely agree. Good extension, but not steady at all. She actually slightly fell in this routine but tried to make it look like it was part of the step sequence.
