Doc Roe was the best medic in all of Easy...I Praise him and i know that if i was wounded in a battle...i just know he would come running through the smoke for me... Doc Roe will forever be remembered for his actions in World War 2....
what happened to the nurse? I just got finished watching this episode and was wondering what had happened to her I know eugene picked up here hat thing but did she die or what? Eugene is my favorite character on this show but I also love winters and Luz well I actually love everybody but eugene is my favorite.
I have seen many BOB videos on here, and enjoyed every single one. But this is by far my favourite out of every single one. Thanks for the amazing work on it.
this is a retarted question but was he a paratrooper nomally medics have 101st 82nd airborne symbols on them but he didnt so is he please dont say shit about this question im already getting shit on my vids
Medics are the unsung heroes of war. They give all they have to save lives during a time when they are taken away on a massive scale. Its surprising that they receive so little attention for their humanitarian deeds under fire in a time when inhuman acts are performed. May all medics past and present be blessed.
@pkart7 I know! I just saw the episode these clips were taken from, and I never really thought about how important they were. Without them, so many more people would have and will die
Doc Roe was my favourite. it was fitting that they dedicated an episode to someone like him. a story as tragic as his deserved to be told from his point of view. the episode in Bastogne moved me a lot.. showed how brave he was to not break under those circumstances. So glad he got to go back to Louisiana and die peacefully, naturally. that's the least he deserved.
The best TV creation ever. Amazing how these guys survived. Eugene had no medical background and little training, but did his job. There are some cool interviews with his daughter on the web.
She said he was married during Bastogne, and the nurse was fiction, but it made a great story nonetheless.
Thank God for the Americans and British. I am sickened by the French and others who never show(ed) any respect for what these guys did. The Frogs are lucky to be alive and speak French...
That was such a great episode. It was focused on Roe instead of Winters and it really was much smaller in scale, not showing the battles so much as the personal toll that it took on these men. The addition of the Renee character was an inspired touch as well.
...The fact that Shane Taylor is a smoking hot piece of fine doesn't really hurt anything, either.
Check out Brotherhood of Leet at my youtube channel - a re-imagining of WW2 dramas like Band of Brothers as if they were set during the 8 bit wars of the 1980s where Nintendo and Sega are waring nations.
Brothers in arms was based on some of the same histories and soldiers leters and notes, not exacly the Easy company, but, if im not wrong, some other company of the 101 batalion...
ya it is.. i love the one 2 and it shows how the medic had 2 keep the morel up on the company during the cold months and it also tell's you what he had 2 deal with 2
ive seen every band of brothers episodes but this one with eugene roe is my most fave episode. Shane Taylor is an amazing actor! so good bust so sad xxlh
Doc Roe didn't take it, because his nerves broke down. Plus the fact that the nurse said something about giving up, that she'd rather "work in a butcher shop than cure another wounded man"...
They'd been around death 24/7 for almost 5 years. Its Tough being a medic or nurse during war. But countless lives depend on them, so they have to endure. They have to keep sane.
@tomrhodes1 I said 'almost 5 years', because even after the formal declaration of peace in 1945, in both Pacific and European Theaters, the Allies still faced small but intense pockets of resistance coming from the enemy, who remained loyal to Hitler/Hirohito. Naturally, medics and nurses, all servicemen, never stopped working even though the war was over in paper.
Yeah Simon Pegg had a small part playing First Sergeant William S. Evans, as Sergeant Evans died on the 6 June, plus you dont see much of him during 'Currahee' either.
The guy pegg was playing was sargeant Bill Evans and on D-Day he was in HQ Company's C-47 I think it was, what ever the case ,the C-47 he was in went down on D-Day and no one got out, sadly.
For Roe it had to be really hard, to lost the only one he loved, however his only duty was to save lifes, and he couldn't help for that one he really wanted to... and that cut, when he tears the only souvenir in two pieces... shows that he is a soldier, and he must not be sad and think to the past, he has to concentrate to the war, and this shows how hard person was he.
In real life they didnt actually meet, she was stationed at a different place but she was killed. combining the stories together was amazing though. I know they had to hollwood up the true story but its because if you read the book and do lots of research like i have their stories arnt romantic they saw terrible things, i cant believe young men went through that. I really think its amazing and i think Doc Roe is amazing. He died in 1998. My favourite episode and soldier
This was the best episode. My heart was breaking all the way through, Doc is such a good character and i really fell in love with him. I like the fact that the story is true and that he really did meet that nurse, really amazing. Its sad he died in 1998 i think, after all he went through.
nowadays like over in the middle east the rules of engagement are loosely followed, most medics now carry a rifle and a hand gun, but back in WWII probably no weapon at all or just a hand gun
They didnt carry weapons thats why in the episode Bastogne Jonny told Roe to stay behind because it was a combat patrol and that was a key scene for Roe as it showed he was separate from the others etc etc. Medics did not get combat pay either
'Cause as a matter of fact, Eugene Roe in real life, recieved two wounds during the war.
One during Operation Market-Garden in Holland, in which he was wounded in the leg in an incident with some barbed wire, which took him out of action for four days.
It annoys me that they never credited the real Eugene Roe properly in this series.
I know he got the episode Bastogne from his point of view, but other than that he doesn't get much recognition in the series.
