Doc Roe was my favourite. it was fitting that they dedicated an episode to someone like him. a story as tragic as his deserved to be told from his point of view. the episode in Bastogne moved me a lot.. showed how brave he was to not break under those circumstances. So glad he got to go back to Louisiana and die peacefully, naturally. that's the least he deserved.

The best TV creation ever. Amazing how these guys survived. Eugene had no medical background and little training, but did his job. There are some cool interviews with his daughter on the web.

She said he was married during Bastogne, and the nurse was fiction, but it made a great story nonetheless.

Thank God for the Americans and British. I am sickened by the French and others who never show(ed) any respect for what these guys did. The Frogs are lucky to be alive and speak French...

That was such a great episode. It was focused on Roe instead of Winters and it really was much smaller in scale, not showing the battles so much as the personal toll that it took on these men. The addition of the Renee character was an inspired touch as well.

...The fact that Shane Taylor is a smoking hot piece of fine doesn't really hurt anything, either.

Doc Roe didn't take it, because his nerves broke down. Plus the fact that the nurse said something about giving up, that she'd rather "work in a butcher shop than cure another wounded man"...

They'd been around death 24/7 for almost 5 years. Its Tough being a medic or nurse during war. But countless lives depend on them, so they have to endure. They have to keep sane.

For Roe it had to be really hard, to lost the only one he loved, however his only duty was to save lifes, and he couldn't help for that one he really wanted to... and that cut, when he tears the only souvenir in two pieces... shows that he is a soldier, and he must not be sad and think to the past, he has to concentrate to the war, and this shows how hard person was he.

In real life they didnt actually meet, she was stationed at a different place but she was killed. combining the stories together was amazing though. I know they had to hollwood up the true story but its because if you read the book and do lots of research like i have their stories arnt romantic they saw terrible things, i cant believe young men went through that. I really think its amazing and i think Doc Roe is amazing. He died in 1998. My favourite episode and soldier

It annoys me that they never credited the real Eugene Roe properly in this series.

I know he got the episode Bastogne from his point of view, but other than that he doesn't get much recognition in the series.

I would expect that both in real life and in the BoB series; a medic -especially Doc Roe, who was held in high regards by many of E Company- would have been a very important character.
