  • (Comment cont.) Not trying to be negative I'm just saying it looks like the vid would go better with indestructable by disturbed because that song is about the risk a warrior will take for the right causes. Johnny I hardly knew ya would work better with this if you injected clips of the over dramatic deaths japanese games are know for and the "we have drums and guns and guns and drums hurro, hurro" with the action sceens.

  • @flyboymike111357 I don't think, that there is a deeper message, nor it's meant to fit lyrics to the scenes. For me, it's the pacing that fits pretty well for an UNEDITED scene/song. A powerful chorus to exagerate the action ( 1:44 for example), calmer verses to get a calm-before-storm-feeling

It feels like a "explosions, f'k yea!!"-movie... nothing wrong with that. IMHO YouTube in general is the wrong spot to discuss war/politics/religion in any way... it's all about entertainment

  • The song and clip don't fit together at all, it is an anti-war song about how physically and mentally damaged veterans are when they return. It was never ment to be matched with an unrealistic, cartoonish clip from a final fantasy game. The timing of the mood in the song and the action of the video are off too, I honestly don't get the point of this vid. I right in my spare time and I have a fairly good understanding of symbolism and imagery and it seems the clip contrasts the message you want.

  • This is like... 'Wizard of Oz' and 'Pink Floyd' levels of synchronicity...

  • I think this movie was made for this song considering how well it fits . (Huroo , Huroo ....)

  • Is this a movie,a full movie that exists or is this just a short clip? Cause i would really like to see this movie too, just like the one when they are fighting Bahamut, sephiroth and that :P

  • damn that went too well with it

  • just sick how well it syncs, music and video, without any editing

  • from when the first shot was fired to about 3:54 i think that was the best part =)

  • SHUT UP AND ENJOY THE MUSIC

  • Sitting on my PC shouting "OPEEEN FIREEEE!!!!"

  • YÖÖÖÖAAH HACKN SLAY!!!!!

  • Is it just me or is Yufi a bad ass?

  • FUCKING EPIC MAN!!!!!!

  • 0:00 click that if you know whats good for 'ya.

  • wow, this proves the irish arent total crap..

  • haha this is kind of funny this song is a cry to stop war ..... so i guess it really dose kind of work lmao

  • You know, at first I thought it was some sort of Rock version of The Ants Go Marching One By One when I first heard this song in Moving Targets by Eddsworld.

  • You should have ended the video with the title of the game... That would have completed this vid ya know...

  • @XipurplefuryiX

    try reading the description sherlock

  • @Thefallenraptor What are you talking about?

  • @XipurplefuryiX

you were complaining how at the end of the video there's no name of the game. so try the description next

  • @Thefallenraptor I know what game it is... I want it to show the tittle of the game in the video instead.

  • Video: 0/10 points

    Music: 10/10 points

  • vincent can take down a helicopter with one bullet

  • 0:00 FREE REPLY BUTTON

  • This is pure AWESOMENESS!

By the way, who is the guy at 2:10 and where can I get that cannon.

  • @Kneb587 He's called Azul the Cerulean. ANd you can't.

  • awesome! cloud is such a bad ass!

  • My favorite part was 2:07 .....

  • To the 46 people that disliked this video:

    You are Crazy,

You have no taste in music,

You really need to think this through and make the smart choice and turn your dislike to a like.

  • epic

  • I know you said 'no editing was involved', but right before 1:25 there should've been a quick scene in the truck where cloud says "time to go, Fenrir".

I don't know if you got the clip like that, but if you edited it out to keep the action flowing, I don't blame you, it works well.

  • @swimteamizzle1114 Maybe they only put that scene in to have an excuse to NOT have the scene set to this song in the game itself.

    Cheers

  • i dont believe in a god, but damn, it sounds like "johny halleluja" XD

  • what the fuck is going on in this video i'll never know and im glad for that i think

  • the most epic part was 0:00 until 3:54

  • what is the name of the original song that this one is based on

  • @cheezo545 When Johnny comes marching home.

  • @cheezo545 First off, anyone that says otherwise is a complete underinformed idiot. This song IS the original. The "Comes marching home" version was written AFTER the "I hardly knew ye" version during the American Civil war by an Irish-American civilian that got pulled into the war and reworded it to keep his troops moral up.

The lyrics to the "I hardly knew ye" version differ occasionally but they ALL are in reference to the (now) Sri Lanka war Irishmen were drafted into against their will.

  • @Galameth Its close to the original with more modern terminology

  • final fantasy shows steampunk at it's best. Steampunk is something that the hipsters could never do.

  • this video is too epic that i couldn't stop grinning through the entire song!!!! this video is exactly what i needed to define the word 'epic'!!!

  • epic timing at 0:24

  • Best song in the history of fucking music!!! So awesome!!!! Fuck Obama!!!!

  • @masterdav28 To hell with Obama... Fuck all governments and Elitists! POWER TO THE PEOPLE! THE PROLETARIATE!

  • i have to say, this vid is amazing. It makes me think of Command and Conquer, though- missile squads, attack bikes, etc.

  • my dad always plays this for me! lol i luv this song <3

  • Hail to freedom of Ireland! Arrrrrg, those imperials bastards would get some of our gunpowder in there noses!))))

  • If there was no editing involved, we know what song the developers were listening to when they made this scene.

  • watch?v=rinrub9Tt4A a remake of this vid a found watch its good people

  • holy crap 0:25 = epic!

  • have to say, woulda been bad ass, if at the end, the man in the cape turned around to see an army standing there. XD

  • Goddamn synth ruins this song. Lovely vocals, but bloody hell

  • war u git the movie for this amv?

  • @dark10123 i just used a website like keepvid to rip it from another youtube video!

  • @dark10123 its final fantasy VII dirge something, searched on youtube and it popped up ;)

  • @dark10123 its from dirge of cerberus, its a cut scean,DOC was a good filler game

  • @dark10123 I think its from one of the final fantasy games cuz that guy on 1:55 looks like cloud strife

  • @go4metalify i know, same hair and eyes...along with the black cloak

  • @dark10123 This is footage from Dirge Of Cerberus, one of the shittiest games ever made. Cutscenes are good though.

  • What exactly is this from? I know it is FFVII but I can't figure out from which part. They all look like they did in Advent Children but could this be Dirge of Cerberus?

  • @zerohour20XX It's Dirge Of Cerberus

  • Hurroooooooooooo from Chile :D

  • @vikingometaleropilso hurrooooooo from vicuña :D

  • Think of this song as being sung TO Vincent, by, say, Lucrezia. It fits him perfectly. She talks about how he is so different, and hardly the same person anymore, and that he's lost a huge part of himself. This battle is a kind of homecoming for Vincent, hence "I'm happy for to see ya home, huroo, huroo..."

  • scary how well this song fits...

  • The ants go marching...

  • 44 people missed the like button

  • Very cool. Well done.

  • funny thing about this video is that the song is actually an ANTI WAR song lol

  • @lordbahari the funnier thing is this video has better sound then the one with 4,000,000+ views ??????

  • @neilisstupid well often it is the best that go unnoticed

  • @lordbahari But for an anti-war song, it sure suits war-imagery well ;)

  • realy amazing!

  • one of the best games everXD

just a little bit to short=(

  • What's the creature at 2:10~2:19? Looks pretty cool :>

  • which movie is this?

plz reply, cause it seems pretty cool

  • @powermetalrulesearth it`s taken from the game final fantasy 7 dirge of cerberus for the ps2

  • Yet who knows the Origin of the song? o_O

  • @NinjaMan652 ITs an old Irish folk song, been done by many people over the years and is origonally sung by a woman, not a man like with DKM. Its a lament from the wife of a soldier left behind when he went off to fight the british.

  • @dindraug actually the irish were fighting with the british in india

  • @NinjaMan652 i found it in some video here... apparently it is an Irish anti-war song around the time the UK established their empire (-->Ceylon), 1790's ,I think.

  • 2:21 The best Oh SHIT! face i ever seen........

  • HUROO! HUROO!

  • This video put a smile on my face from beginning to end. The combination of the music and the awesome cutscene was really well done. Good on ya!

  • what part of ff7 was this was this a new movie or something bc i dont remember any of this i played crisis core i played the original ff7 seen the movies as well unless this is dirge of cerberus someone please tell me x.x

  • @sandshrew666 yea, it's dirge of Cerberus i would get it....but i can't find it!!!!

  • 2:12 Baium :-X

  • Fantástico... perfeito!

  • do you cut this vid? some scenes are really awesome with the music

  • what game is that ????????

  • @VAULT261 lazy ass read the info like really!

  • Huh, for me, this was a pro-war song. Specifically, it's condemning Johnny for being a coward and running from the battlefield.

  • @turnerbattosai No. Quite the opposite. The song originally conveyed a much different tonality. It's about a man returning crippled and legless from war to a family that scarcely knew him. At the end of the song the drums beat again and they're returning to war, and the woman wonders if the cycle will never end. This is a cover.

  • @Tydraad the effect the tempo has on me is quite contrary to the true meaning of the song though... but i like both the fast and slow versions.

  • coincidental mixing which turn out awesome, i bet you impressed yourself

  • Would it be weird to say I want to have sex to this song?

  • @usaa300 Not at all.

  • why is it illegal to marry this song?

  • lol this is an Anti war song and you put it up with a war video! LOL

  • @GaaraKatsu , well, come to think of it, this really adds a certain depth and a way different point of view to the whole cut scene video employed, making it much more controversial than it is generally regarded. Kind of switches the attention, taking it from the main characters slashing away merrily and playfully (well, because they ARE the superheroes of the depicted universe, they can care less about all the bullets and explosions around)...

  • @GaaraKatsu ... making the viewer to take in the fact that there is a lot people dying in the assault, on both sides, while the protagonists and antagonists go around on their business. Kind of the same way it happened with Irish fighting for the interests of British East India Company overseas, which was the reason for the creation of the original lyrics. Well, I guess the powers-that-be in the video are even redeemed somewhat for fighting alongside (although with much less chance to die).

  • Man FFVII was so epic and i hope square enix or w/e company FF belongs to now rereleases it on a new console mebe improve graphicsbut thats it

  • @hi14993 btw the # in username are the hp we had to go to "kill" LK...on 1st run.........go WoW

  • dude the end with vincent gave me chills good job good job i am putting this on my psp and ipod

  • @scudbunny niiiiiice!

  • @scudbunny FRIGGIN AWESOME!!

  • @scudbunny I want to go buy a psp or ipod, Just so I can put this one it!

  • i didnt waste alot of time goin through the post but it seems at least some people are not claming that this irish rock band are all from ireland ill be amazed cant find some argument in any of the floggin molly vids

  • wow that was brilliant

  • you should have edited the end to where it would say the name of game. that would have completed it.

  • brilliant song

  • As much as I think FF7 is over-rated, this was absolutely perfect.

  • anybody an idea why the hell the song fits SO PERFECTLY? ^^

  • we had guns and drums and drums and guns long live the IRA

  • Brilliant!

  • I love the song, but I dislike the accompanying movie; Johnny I hardly knew ya has nothing heroic about it; it instead talks about all that is horrible. The only pictures that could be rightfully applied to this song would be pictures of the injured and dead of war.

    Excellent song, however.

  • @ragnarthesemigreen True, but if you're a true FFVII fan then you already know full-well that no war is truly heroic. The main plot of 'Advent Children' revolved around the people of Midgar, Cloud in-particular, dealing with the fallout of earth-shattering conflict. No one emerges victorious from battle: it's only by accepting past scars and moving forward that they can heal.

'Dirge of Cerberus' follows these themes and takes them UP TO 11. After this scene everything becomes much more somber.

  • @CrazyGrapefruit I am sorry to disappoint you, but I am not a final fantasy fan. I merely clicked on this while I was searching for interestinig stuff

  • @ragnarthesemigreen You didn't disappoint me: I actually figured as much.

It's just when anything FF-related opens on ruins or a flashy battle scene you can pretty much bank on it being a bleak game. When 'Dirge of Cerberus' began with BOTH the first thought that entered most heads was probably "aw shite, this is gonna be depressing..." It's also worth bringing up that virtually every character suffers from some level of war-related PTSD.

  • i have that game and it kicks massive ass. and with this song the video of the attack is even cooler

  • This is now Cid's theme song. NUFF said

  • Omg I just noticed the rocket launcher dudes have got sephiroths shoulder armour (or it looks like it at least)

  • I am an Athy man born & bred ,I am very familiar with this tune but DKM is the best version ever recorded absolutely brill..........Thanks from all in Athy

  • Perfect timing at the rocketlaunching :D

  • Awesome video Andrewzors. I wonder how you made things fit sooo well! like at about 0:26 and at also at 3:33. 10000000000000000000000000000000/10

  • the intro is epicly timed (even tho it apparantly is coincidental :P)

  • what game is this?

  • @dewil619

Part of the Final Fantasy 7 series.

FF7 for the ps1 was (although 20% of people will disagree) easily the best RPG ever made with the most epic storyline of books and films of all time. This is a spin off set after this called Final Fantasy - Dirge Of Cerberus. Theres also a game called Final Fantasy - Crisis Core and a film called Final Fantasy - Advent Children (not the other crap FF film).

  • what game is this?

  • @dewil619 Final Fantasy 7: Dirge of Cerberus. It's a 3rd action shooter set around Vincent.

  • love the timing on the video with the song, the missiles start flying when it really gets going! Woot!

  • this reminds me soooo much of the new game lost planet 2... great game btw

  • This song is like so awesome when the big bang just comes on!!!

  • is this a movie?

  • too bad the cutscenes are the best part of the game final fantasy blows... and im not saying that because i only play action based games i love strategy and thinking things through its just final fantasy just treats you like a dirty whore it can pop in and see any time

  • the meledy is a song for children in austria :D

  • @Genocoide wha-... Australia? no, dear sire, this is irish

  • @Shadowbunnyjedi nono AUSTRIA not australia^^ the melody of this song is the melody of an old song for children, i sang it as i was 4 years old

  • @Genocoide yes the ants go marching 10 by 10 if i remember right

  • @Shadowbunnyjedi irish style music but apparently the Dropkick Murphys are from the US 0_o

  • @IrishBagel07 yes they are americans but where they grew up has one of the largest populations of irish-americans if not the largest in america

  • Bravo!

  • Great Song!

Also I thought 'Johnny I hardly knew ya' was a war song, not anti-war?

I mean, aren't they sending Johnny off with fond farewells?I'll look it up.

  • @Hiandrom0n it was written as an anti war song cause they are "sending johnny off with fond farwells" but they dont know johnny and they know that now they never will cause he is sure to die in a war not of his own

  • I really like the fact that you made the part, where the song is getting a little "harder" match with the soldiers who fire their cannons.

    5/5!

  • awsome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • oh..i think when this is an anti-war song (zou can heart in song) but this..this..this really AWESOME!!!! i really like this song and every when a sing that song i see this!!

  • wich part of ff is this its so cool

  • Cloud on a bike with sword = ultimate killing machine.

  • @goluigi10 Even a pink one with a basket and a flat tire? :(

  • @goluigi10 afuckinmen!!

  • wat game is this?

  • @mrdarkside97 its a final fanstisy game or movie idk which 1 it is but this vid is awesome

  • @shadowlLink Actually, It's a very large and important cutscene in Final Fantasy 7: Dirge of Cerberus. Which yes ._. is a Ps2 game

  • I'm not sure why everyone is arguing over it, but "Midgard" literally means "middle yard" and was indeed the world of humans in Scandinavian mythology. In Swedish it's spelled "Midgård"

    "å" got a pronunciation similar to "o"

Awesome video by the way :)

  • So does anyone else actually really like the TEXTp mode?

  • Its a scene from FFVII: Dirge Of Cerberus.

  • looks like final fantasy to me :P

  • This is one of the coolest vids I've ever seen!

  • Great Song and Good Movie! =) 5*

  • i have a question about the game.

why is it a japanese game about Midgard?

Midgard is an old Germanic name for our world and is the home of Humans.

  • I dunno. Can Japanese game makers not make a game about Midgar?

Honestly you notice this a lot in Japanese anime and games whether its german names or references to german history and lore they have it all over the place.

  • Midgar is is probably a reference to Midgard, which is Norse, not German...

  • @Gomjibar: Well, Norse is one of many Germanic languages. All these people had similar culture, religion and language... BUT they never recognized them selves as "the germanic people", but rather by the name of their tribes... In fact there was one tribe which was called "the germanics". This name was later used by the romans for all similar tribes.

  • The game isn't about Midgar, that's just the name of one of the cities, it has a few names that sound like they could be German or Eastern European. Like Nibelheim.

  • Germanic ? well you can say that but its not german.. its Scandanavien From Vikings callname for their world compared to gods world (asgard)
