  • shouldnt the barrel be 20 inches? thats what the spec sheet i read said

  • acu all the way

  • multicam

  • Desert

  • What type of animals could you hunt with that? Coyotes, squirls, rabbits,?

  • Not a fan of the Multicam ...

  • when i got my 597 at cabelas it had a folding stock and i put a 4 grip a red dot and a flash light and i got 2 30 round mags on the way and a bi pod

  • I would do real tree camo it would look a lot better

  • I love this gun. This is the first gun I've ever owned. My parents bought me it for my birthday last year, and it's been awesome. Great out of the box accuracy. The only thing I dislike about it, is that the bolt doesn't stay back all the time on the banana clip. I have the same one you have, but black. And, it doesn't reallyyy hold 30 rounds. The most me/my dad have been able to get in was about 20

  • I purchased the same exact rifle as soon as I was old enough to buy one and have done all the exact same things you plan on doing to it. I went with an urban (black white dark grey and medium grey) for the stock though. and I didn't do the flash suppressor as I would like to make a screw on silencer instead some day. Can't wait to see how yours looks in the end. I love mine and think it looks bad ass.

  • Nice job with photoshop :D

  • Hey dude, good luck with your build, just a small piece of advice, you rifle will be more accurate and more importantly/significantly with a 22 have a better trajectory if you use some lower mounts, you want the scope center point as close to the barrel center point as possible, good luck and happy shooting :)

  • ruger 10 22 sucks dick

  • @mexodus Well I will agree the Ruger 10/22 is an excellent rifle. I would love to get a Ruger 10/22 down the road, this is just what I bought as a young teenager. I will also say it's completely up to each shooter on what rifle they think is best. You might love the Ruger but someone else might love the Remington. Thanks for your vulgar comment, in all caps no less, you must've been really serious. Nice work.

  • @MustyYetisTacticalHQ Sweet response. LMFAO! The 10/22 is clearly a more popular gun. However, the 10/22 popularity can largely be attributed to the fact that it has been around for 30 years longer than the 597, and popularity does not prove superiority. Betamax was superior to VHS but VHS was more popular. I would bet that a stock Remington would easily hold its own against a stock 10/22 out of the box. Sorry Mexodus, just because there are more 10/22's out there doesn't mean it's better.

  • @BiffKansas Dude, great response. It's definitely much better than mine. You raised a really good point about the Ruger being out for much longer than the Remington. I can't speak to all Remington 597s but I know mine could hold up next to a Ruger 10/22. The thing has preformed flawlessly throughout the years. I know this is a different topic but its similar to people raving about the Glock and hating on everything else. Now Glocks are great, don't get me wrong, but there are other great options

  • @mexodus do you own both dick head? I do. Ruger is a TAD bit better in ways, but you obviously have never touched the remington 597. Stop repeating what you have heard from others, it's none sense and childish.

  • @mexodus the 597 is by far a better out of the box rifle that than the 10-22.

  • @mexodus u have no tast in guns

  • @mexodus your a douche

  • @mexodus ok did you hsve to go on a remington video to do that if the gun bothers you so much why are you watching a video on it

  • THose are really good rifles. You need a 10/22 if you dont own one allready. As for your camo, what part of the county do you live in? desert camo would stand out where i live, and what i use here is worthless in some parts. if your after pure second kind of cool, Id go digital acu

  • @tubefed420 Yeah I wouldn't mind getting a Ruger 10/22 but at the same time I wonder do I really need two .22 caliber rifles. I don't mind having two AR's because they are high caliber rifles, but do I need two small caliber rifles... I don't know. I'm actually surrounded by wheat fields which is why I chose to go with FDE. To be honest I choose my colors and camo simple by what I think is cool. I don't worry about it actually matching my environment. Thanks for commenting, take care.

  • How do you guys like these rifles? I bought one a while back but haven't had time to use it so I don't know how it shoots.

  • @landon460 I'll be honest I haven't shot mine in a long time but when I did I loved it. I had zero issues and saved a ton of money on ammo. Like any gun I would give it a break in period before casting any judgements. Let me know what you think of it when you get out and shoot it.

  • ive had that gun for about 1 or 2 years and i dont have the sights for if i didnt have the scoop and it has a problem with poping the shells out do youhave theat problem.

  • @SimsSnowbourder4 I haven't had any extraction issues. Well let me say I've never had them to the point where I think it's the rifle. I contribute the few extraction issues to the ammo I'm using. I never use expensive stuff, just cheap crap from Wal-Mart. After talking with quite a few people I've learned Remington’s 597 is hit or miss... sometimes they run 100% and other times they have repetitive issues.

  • I bought a 597 from guy for $50. After stripping off the high-gloss krylon "camoflage" paintjob, I found it was the red "Dale Earnhardt" edition. That wasn't good. I wanted to keep it cheap, so I hosed down the stock with truck-bed liner from a rattle can. Tough as snot and looks soooo tacticool :0)~

Great little gun! It even cycles subsonic!!

  • @Maat922 thats awesome dude

  • Doesn't matter it's not my gun but yours so i don't really care

  • @AlfonsFromAtech Wow dude, thanks for the comment. Take care.

  • CAMO duracoat ACU or FOLIAGE GREEN.

  • @AlfonsFromAtech Well unfortunately your a tad late on casting your vote. I already started painting the rifle and I'm going with the multi-cam pattern... sorry.

  • multi cam

  • @Primeda Nice choice because that's the camo I decided to go with.

  • Just bought one of these today. I know it's probably too late to suggest it but I think it would look much cooler if you install a forward sling swivel (like $15) and get a bipod than a forward grip. Also, I think the 30 round mag looks a bit cheasy on .22s

  • @karikaru Nice, youll definitely like it. Ive really enjoyed mine and havent had a problem with it yet. Its not to late. The beauty about installing the picatinny rail section is I can change things as I see fit. I can easily install a bipod or a sling swivel, heck I might be able to do all three. Im constantly amazed how people tell me how my choices are crappy or cheesy. I love them thats why I bought them. If you dont like it thats cool, just dont knock me for liking them. You know?

  • @MustyYetisTacticalHQ Any good sources for inexpensive, but decent paint for a gunstock? or camo stencils?

  • @karikaru You know if you're looking to do a camo paint job as cheap as possible, your best bet is to print out the pattern. Then trace the different sections of the camo on to some paint and just go layer by layer. Now you want to pay close attention to the sizing of the pattern when you print it. You don't want it to be to small where it will take you forever, but not to big where it doesn't fit. As for paint your cheapest is going to be the Camo Krylon paint.

  • i like the acu camo the best. i just bought one of these and havent shot it yet. mine came with a remington scope with it. ty for the video very good.

  • @flubber8396 It was a tie with me between the ACU and Multi Cam... I decided to go with Multi Cam, sorry. Like I just told someone I screwed up my first attempt so I had to sand everything down and I'm giving it a second try now. It isn't as easy as I thought it would be. The Remington will be a great rifle for you, I love mine and have had zero problems with it.

  • i just went ahead and bought a 597 VTR.. im dying to paint it, but am terrified to screw it up... any idea how to fix it if i did?

  • @beatcook Yeah I know what you mean about being scared you might screw something up. I actually just started painting my 597, and I did screw it up. What's nice about paint is you can always sand it down and restart, which is what I'm doing now. If you're really scared practice on something small first. If you're doing a solid color I wouldn't worry, if you're going with a patter then a practice run might help. Let me know if I can help out any more. Take care and good luck.

  • desert

  • @MrHawgsniper Yeah man without Photoshop I wouldn't have been able to see what my gun looked like at the end.

  • Great video again by MustyYetisTacticalHQ....Keep them a coming....

  • dont do the VG and do it in multicam, it'll look sweet

  • @DaytonaRoadster Yeah I'm mostly installing the rail system so I can rock a Vertical Grip, when and if, I run some courses. But then I can easily change it out for a Bipod for hunting or just increased accuracy. Thanks for the Multicam vote, I'm thinking that's going to be the winner.

  • Great video, been checking out nutnfancy's videos haven't you!

  • @ihatenoobsauce god i hope not, that guy is an idiot

  • @DaytonaRoadster Yeah nutnfancy isn't the reason for my current modification process. Of coarse I have seen his video though, can't lie about that. I'm not going to get into bashing anyone though, don't want to waste my energy with that... you know?

  • @ihatenoobsauce No, actually I was talking to my "gun guru" telling him I was depressed because I was done with my Bushmaster. He recommended I start modifying my Remington and when I told him I was getting disgruntled with the limited aftermarket stock options he told me about his Ruger 10/22. I then Youtubed it and the first one I came across was by markquimby82. Of coarse I did see NutnFancys video on the Ruger but it had nothing to do with conversion or future Ruger buy.

  • @MustyYetisTacticalHQ Oh interesting, I just thought you did because you were saying some of the same things he was about his Rugar 10/22.

  • @ihatenoobsauce Yeah its totally understandable. The truth is the Tapco stock is the only one Ive seen that I like of all stocks for the Remington or the Ruger. I actually was going to make it fit my Remington. Check out deanfeans channel, he custom fit the Tapco stock to his Remington 597, I would rather just buy the Ruger. However the Flash Hider was inspired by Nutnfancy, that looked awesome. I just want a tactical .22 rifle so I can practice and not spend so much money on the .223 rounds.

  • I definitely like the desert cam the most.

  • @949marc Ok that makes 2 for Desert Camo, still trailing behind Multicam though.

  • multi-cam all the way man!

  • @memkills Roger, 3 for Multicam. Thanks for the vote man.

  • Why take a good small game gun and try and make it something it's not?

It's like ricing out a japanese car...

  • @762Fanatic Well for one, I don't hunt anymore so the rifle has no intended use other than shooting targets. Two, none of these modifications change the rifle at all they in fact improve it. It will still have a scope, camouflage to conceal it, rails to attach a bipod to increase accuracy, and 30 round magazine add ammunition. So unfortunately I'm not changing it into anything it's not, I'm simply changing it for the better. Sorry you misunderstood what was being done to it.

  • Leave the gun alone.

And what's that braclet? some kinda fashion accessory? lol..

  • @762Fanatic So by your opinion the gun shouldn't have a scope then. When I purchased the gun it came without it. So I should take that off? Maybe I should return all the accessories I added to my Bushmaster AR15 too. Who needs an EOTech, 30 round magazine, adjustable stock, free float rail, folding sights, etc. Unfortunately you don't understand these after market parts improve the weapon functionality. It's a Paracord Survival Wristband, look it up & if you still have questions let me know!

  • @LDMoss21 OK one vote for Digital Camo. Thanks man, we will just have to wait and see which one wins.

  • i say go with multi cam b/c of its versatility and its looks, ACU is crap and looks too urban and the desert cam is cool to but not as versatile

  • @trenttyre Sweet deal, I already like how the voting is going. You know what, I used to love ACU but now I think it looks like crap (like you said)… it looks like all the colors are worn and faded. Plus in my environment ACU would stand out something fierce. I’m surrounded by wheat fields so tan is the way to go for me. I guess Multicam wouldn’t work best either but it looks awesome so I don’t care.

  • @MustyYetisTacticalHQ I agree it does look faded. But you might be surprised at how well multi cam works. It was designed to blend in with many different environments

  • That thing is gonna look sick, im tore between the multi cam and the desert digital.. Thats a hard decision!!

  • @MrGunAddiction Yeah I'm thinking its going to turn out awesome as well. I just got done with the magazine modification and they look awesome. I'm freakin pumped how they turned out. I got the rails in the mail the other day so I need to make that video soon. Then all that's left is to paint it, which I think is going to push it over the edge... make it too cool. I’m going to say you voted Multicam because you said it first, so thanks… 2 votes Multicam.

  • Red Tiger Camo!!!

  • @MetalStormProject Red Tiger? Come on man this isn't Call of Duty, this is real life. I know I don’t get out and shoot much but if I was ever in a WROL situation or the Zombie apocalypse happened I think Red Tiger Camo would do more harm than good. I would stand out like sore thumb, and you know how Zombies are, you have to stay one step ahead of them. I’ll stick with the greens, tans, browns, and blend in with my environment thank you.

  • Holey heck man. How many guns do you own?

  • @MetalStormProject Oh I own a decent amount… I still have 2 shotguns (over under and a semi auto) and a Glock to review. I’m looking to get that Ruger 10/22 so add one more for sure. I’ll probably never stop buying guns, it’s just addicting… Once you buy one you want more.

  • First, get the Multicam or just a stand alone color like flat dark earth.

  • @DKtrecour Check, 1 vote for Multicam. I wanted to try something different besides a solid color like my Bushmasters or XD9. I think the Multicam will just look sick and also give me a different look than what I already own.

  • @MustyYetisTacticalHQ okay cool, but if youre interested in some cool Multicam paintjobs you should watch this: watch?v=fHYq2q0RJss

  • @DKtrecour I checked that out and he definitely has some cool looking camouflages, especially on that Arsenal AK47. I will say I think his Multicam is off though, I think he has too much tan and not enough green. Hopefully when they do that for people they put more green on the gun. I think my Multicam will look sick, possibly better... I'm overly anal when it comes to things like this. Just remember mine wont cover the entire gun. Thanks for the video link so I could check out that video.

  • @MustyYetisTacticalHQ no prop man, I looking forward to see youre final result.
