@hazza1110 Swat teams are hardly used for riots. Its usually normal police officers that out on riot gear and contain crowds. SWAT teams do things like hostage situations, hold ups and other things. So, you should do your research bud ;)

One of my uncle was part of the GIGN and he was a military, he told me.

And I am not a specialist, but "Gendarmes" comes to "Gens d'armes" (Men at Arms) an old elite corps which has been renamed for the transition from monarchy to the nation.

It's a corp of army but in France, Department of the Interior may have authority over the Gendarmerie that's why they are present during riots, in airport, terrorism, or protection.

I believe that all those special units shown on the video are really greate but, there is something i must to say, and i don't say it cause i'm brazilian, between all those units, BOPE is the most experienced , becouse they are solicited almost everyday and they face threats that most of other units don't even dream about !!

GIGN are considered to be the best shooters in CT units while Yamam does CT operations every day, and GSG 9 first CT unit created in 1972 after Munich Olympic Games, so it has a lot to learn from. BOPE deserves # 6 place in the World without any doubt but cleary not the first. :)

after looking into it a bit more, it does look like YAMAM is better than SWAT, but each police department in the US will run theirs a bit differently, and i think the LAPD SWAT is the best out of them.

It's really more about the individuals rather than the unit, i bet that some YAMAM operators will be better than LAPD SWAT, and some LAPD SWAT will be better then some YAMAM.
