Yes, indeed, greatest Irish-American. When he visited Cork on this trip, the mayor called him a great Irishman and he was clearly touched by this description. And for those below wondering about President Kennedy's height. He was 6 feet tall.
Interesting that you would say that. I've read that the irish where the tallest people in Europe 200 years ago, but that famine and continual malnurishment has made them shorter.
I think President Kennedy was pretty tall and the secret service guys would never be short guys anyway so thats probably the reason. The farmer wasn't tall and it seemed mostly women around him who would be normally smaller anyway.
fantastic clip. Its good to see that he still made time to visit during his short presidency and that although his family left so long ago that he still appreciates where he came from.

It called the beckoning process... it have the imbarrassing aspects of a slace culture, in other words, a priest-ridden culture of chalk and chalk charms...all chalk moving statues made in rome...
Your hatred is not accurately informed, but the product of now a near half-century of neo-fascist historical revisionism & posthumous assassination of JFK by rightwing mass corporate & CIA-infested media whose denigration of the Kennedys was prerequisite to fostering an antidemocratic, non-egalitarian agenda that has morally & financially bankrupted America at the expense of decent hard-working citizens. You can rant, but JFK, RFK, & Ted have remained true to the ideals of American's founders.
Hey, Walrus, why you makawithdebitwords? ... Why not speech by JFK on SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE? why it disappear from You Tube? ... If Irish peoples hear what JFK say on giving churches no help absolutely, they actually leave fairy places they live in and actually grow up ... what happen then , Walrus, you have no pulpit and no job....hehehe!
Hey SemenBreath Night: Your anti-Catholic posts have called all Irish people Godless pedophiles -- a baseless, savage, blanket condemnation rooted in bigotry, gross stupidity, & acute mental illness. Do not compare yourself to a comedic social commentator like George Carlin who loathes ideological vermin like you. You are a sick twisted old man with a vicious unbridled paranoia reminiscent of Nazism at its worst. Save your rabid anti-papist rants for a psychiatrist and leave Youtube alone.
Since I was a child the same ould spiel was trotted out. The Protestants will do it for the Catholics, youth will do it for age, and God will feed us all with five loaves and two fishes....... In Ireland there is only one issue -- Gullability!
I remember in every house of the people I knew when I was a young lad there was always a picture on the wall that had a picture of JFK, Jesus Christ and John Paul II. I suppose we could punch holes into the character of any man in the world sure we all have our human flaws, but I (and I think most Irish) are very proud of JFK, I think that the Irish of the time felt like they had a lost their own leader when the wrold lost him.
I agree. Certainly at the time, witnessing the decendent of an Irish-immigrant becoming the most powerful man in the world was inspiration at a time when there was not much to be excited about in Ireland.
JFK was the most profound visionary to become president since Thomas Jefferson. Author Romaine Gary said of him, "he possessed the most perfectly functioning human mind I ever encountered." As a student, Kennedy was called a "deep political thinker" by Harvard professor Payson Wild, Jr., & his implemented political philosophy was democratic, egalitarian, progressive, rational, & realistic. We owe our very existence to his adept handling of the Cuban Missile Crisis. JFK was America's best.
That's right, & in your case, very SORRY existence, you right-wing, redactic, revisionary, swastika-brandishing, Rush Limbaugh-loving, saggy, elephant-grey G.O.P. mental fat ass. JFK's masterful handling of the Cuban Missile Crisis saved even morons like you whose idiotic blather befogs historical truth with neo-fascistic didacticism not seen since the days of Josef Goebbels. Try moving beyond Mein Kampf, moron, preferably on an uncharted island as your own 4th Reich far from the madding crowd.
Seriously, Walrus, don't you think you might consult a doctor! You're having a heart attack, man! It's only an exchange of opinions -- not Custer's last stand!
"Walrus?" You squinty-eyed, strabismic, moralizing Magoo! Before I consult a doctor, how about you first consulting an ophthalmologist! It's "WalRu11," you moron! And as for doctors, I'll see one after you stop spouting the eugenics line of Dr. Joseph Menegele, you anti-Catholic, Protestant prick! There are legitimate exchanges of opinion, then there is simply having to bear the horrific inbred imbecility of prejudicial racists like you, for which I have zero tolerance. Go piss up a rope!
stop thinking in protestant/cathlic and start thinking in the people v the elite. it's all a charade for the price of your soul.. stop fighting your brother and fight the big brother.
You miss the forest for the trees. FYI: in proper historic context, Protestant hatred of Catholics is an aspect of the larger WASP eugenics agenda that has produced genocidal slaughter against those regarded as inherently inferior by race, ethnicity, or religion. Research the British & Americans Eugenics movement of the 19th century in league with the anti-immigration agenda of Boston Blue Bloods like Sen. Henry Cabot Lodge & elitist servitors like the Bush & Dulles families. It yet continues.
the things that are going on today .. custer's last stand dont have shit on.. we are dealing with a massive elitist power grab on a WORLD scale.. we will wage an eternal fight against this NWO but we must not degrade ourselves into fighting amongst our peers.
I don't know who killed JFK, but if JFK talked in Ireland about the absolute separation of Church and State as he did in Houston and elsewhere in 1960, the Irish would have shot him then and there. The RC Church owns Ireland, (all) its schools ,its political parties, its civil service, judges, lawyers, etc. . The separation of Church and State is the most radical thing he ever said. The Church would die without handouts...
are you cracking a joke???? rome doesent own anything but the church in ireland, and never did. It had some influence but thats about it...... kennedy was obviously killed because he was going to stop the CIA, and the secret goverment agencys and cults and expose everyone...
State papers recently admit the CIA operations in Ireland. Cathal O Shannon has shown how the hatred of Communism has led the 'religious' in Ireland to ratline Nazies to Ireland and elsewhere. What do you think of Kennedy's view to seperate Chruch from State? Or maybe you never heard of Liz O'Donnell. She thought the same as JFK. Now she has neither a seat nor a party.
the church never controlled ireland, beisdes the church and education. SURE, they had influence, but there was nothing wrong with it. I dont see where JFK express's his's views on this, and if so, this wasent the reason.
While there isnt a big sign that says "This is the popes".. there are other, more nafarious ways to control an area.. research the jesuit order (and more then a passing glance) and you will see what he means
sebreacthnach, you're comment is a complete overstatment: it is laughable to suggest the Irish would have shot jfk for ANY reason!; the RC church does not own Ireland and its influence has wained rapidly since 1992; the RC church just announced that non-catholics will be given equal opportunity to register in catholic schools, and now many of the positions you have listed in Irish society are dominated by a liberal and possibly Godless elite.
Yes, Father! Three bags full, Father! Being the only country in the world to pay for the Church's paedophilic army -- does that prove how Godless the Irish are?
It has nothing to do with "how Godless the Irish are" and everything to do with the state owning up to its responsibilities in letting the church off with its "paedophilic army" as you call it.
If you don't think that the impact of church scandals has not had a disastrous effect on the influence of the Catholic Church then you are probably not living in Ireland at all. You should read todays Sunday Tribune, btw.
I think you have misread everything. I am not concerned with the Chruch, as you are; I am concerned with its awful effects on society. The Irish have just volunteered to pay for their pedophile clerics. Could anything be more depraved than for a people to pay for those who bugger their children?
I'm not concerned with the church, I am concerned with your exaggerations. When referring to Ireland you state that the Catholic church owns "(all) its schools". Does it own the non-Catholic schools too? How the muslim schools? Are they "muslim-catholics"? lol.
What it doesn't own doesn't really matter. We, the taxpayers, pay for it. As you well know. Now , if you want to talk to me further, you will have to come out of hiding....
Northern loyalists don't have to pay for anything down here sebreathnach. Now, if you want to talk to me further, you will have to come out of hiding...
propaganda propamato the elites furver to subvert and distract the irish people knows no bounds.. as more irish are proud of their roots there as are the elite and as they know the irish people would be the greatest wrench in their cogs if fully utilized.
so why did the good lord give the irish whiskey?to keep them from ruling the world?didnt work did it?...so he had to send them redheads too...in my 51 years Americas been at its best when it has a philandering president, think about that and vote!
It was most certainly endoresed by the founders..What was practiced is a different story..
I don't belive that was the intent of JFK's statement.I belive instead that he was trying to assure a bigoted voting block that as president his decisions regarding law would reflect his views of the Constitution and not Catholic doctrine.
He was correct to do so.
Frankly, I'm sick of politicians discussing religion.
this highlights the kind of kook, religious conservatives weirdos that we have in our country that would rather elect a moron like George Bush than elect a Catholic.
JFK is the greatest President the United States has ever had...
Yes but he was said to have offended his own church. Have you seen the vid with the speech where he says keep the church opinion out of the office? Some didn't like that spoken outloud by a man of his stature It made the Jesuits mad
Ya I know about that seperation deal, its never publicluy endoresed though Back when tv as newer then today it was insulting to the CAthlics when JFK did this. Think of all The President of other faith who avoided doing this NOw a cathlic come in and WHat? he decides its time to remind the nation he will not listen to the Pope or high priests? THen he tell the VAticans bankers who invested in the Fed Reserve he plans on competing agaist them with the SIlver backed treaury Bill?
It is such a shame that JFK was assasinated when he had so much to offer to the people all across the globe. This world would have been so much more different if he wasn't murdered. I don't think anyone can fathom how much of an impact he made and could have made to the American public and how much he could have righted.
Then he wouldn't met Jackie :L

Patrick Kennedy left Ireland in a state of the greatest poverty imaginable. His great grandson returned to Ireland on top of the world.
JFK said in his farewell speech that he would return in the spring. Alas, spring never came for him as he was shot a few months later.

My great-great grandfather, one Richard McCarty, was born in County Cork in 1842. He came to New York in 1857 with
his mother and a younger sister, was in the 3rd New Jersey
Cavalry in the latter part of the Civil War, and came to Texas
about 1867. He was a typical rowdy Irish boozer and died
in Teague, Texas (Freestone County) in 1919.

Your insufferable religious paranoia & intolerable racist hate rants make you a mockery of all that is decent & humane in this world.

Wow, thanks for posting the video. My grandparents were both sitting behind JFK when he was on the stage with New Ross Urban Council. If anyone has any other videos of JFK in NR, please leave me a comment.

I fucking Hate Jfk and all the kennedys as a Irish American I don't want those corrupt treasonist bastards To be representive of Irish Americans
celtiberian07 3 years ago

Diatribe? You seem like a sensible person: have you any idea what 'reviving' a language that has been dead for hundreds of years actually means?

JDLK2005 4 years ago
I agree. Certainly at the time, witnessing the decendent of an Irish-immigrant becoming the most powerful man in the world was inspiration at a time when there was not much to be excited about in Ireland.
jratt2 4 years ago
JFK was the most profound visionary to become president since Thomas Jefferson. Author Romaine Gary said of him, "he possessed the most perfectly functioning human mind I ever encountered." As a student, Kennedy was called a "deep political thinker" by Harvard professor Payson Wild, Jr., & his implemented political philosophy was democratic, egalitarian, progressive, rational, & realistic. We owe our very existence to his adept handling of the Cuban Missile Crisis. JFK was America's best.
WALRU11 3 years ago 2
Please don't talk nonsense! Profound? 'Very existence'?
sebreathnach 3 years ago

It's only an exchange of opinions -- not Custer's last stand!
sebreathnach 3 years ago

Address issue , not preach from pulpit!
sebreathnach 3 years ago
You miss the forest for the trees. FYI: in proper historic context, Protestant hatred of Catholics is an aspect of the larger WASP eugenics agenda that has produced genocidal slaughter against those regarded as inherently inferior by race, ethnicity, or religion. Research the British & Americans Eugenics movement of the 19th century in league with the anti-immigration agenda of Boston Blue Bloods like Sen. Henry Cabot Lodge & elitist servitors like the Bush & Dulles families. It yet continues.
WALRU11 3 years ago
the things that are going on today .. custer's last stand dont have shit on.. we are dealing with a massive elitist power grab on a WORLD scale.. we will wage an eternal fight against this NWO but we must not degrade ourselves into fighting amongst our peers.

The Church would die without handouts...
sebreathnach 4 years ago
are you cracking a joke???? rome doesent own anything but the church in ireland, and never did. It had some influence but thats about it...... kennedy was obviously killed because he was going to stop the CIA, and the secret goverment agencys and cults and expose everyone...
Thuglordrpt 4 years ago
State papers recently admit the CIA operations in Ireland. Cathal O Shannon has shown how the hatred of Communism has led the 'religious' in Ireland to ratline Nazies to Ireland and elsewhere. What do you think of Kennedy's view to seperate Chruch from State? Or maybe you never heard of Liz O'Donnell. She thought the same as JFK. Now she has neither a seat nor a party.
sebreathnach 4 years ago
the church never controlled ireland, beisdes the church and education. SURE, they had influence, but there was nothing wrong with it. I dont see where JFK express's his's views on this, and if so, this wasent the reason.
Thuglordrpt 4 years ago
While there isnt a big sign that says "This is the popes".. there are other, more nafarious ways to control an area.. research the jesuit order (and more then a passing glance) and you will see what he means

you must decide for yourself. You might begin by coming out of the shadows and representing yourself...
sebreathnach 3 years ago
sebreacthnach, you're comment is a complete overstatment: it is laughable to suggest the Irish would have shot jfk for ANY reason!; the RC church does not own Ireland and its influence has wained rapidly since 1992; the RC church just announced that non-catholics will be given equal opportunity to register in catholic schools, and now many of the positions you have listed in Irish society are dominated by a liberal and possibly Godless elite.
Welcome to 21st century Ireland.
jratt2 4 years ago
Yes, Father! Three bags full, Father! Being the only country in the world to pay for the Church's paedophilic army -- does that prove how Godless the Irish are?
sebreathnach 4 years ago
It has nothing to do with "how Godless the Irish are" and everything to do with the state owning up to its responsibilities in letting the church off with its "paedophilic army" as you call it.
If you don't think that the impact of church scandals has not had a disastrous effect on the influence of the Catholic Church then you are probably not living in Ireland at all. You should read todays Sunday Tribune, btw.
jratt2 4 years ago
I think you have misread everything. I am not concerned with the Chruch, as you are; I am concerned with its awful effects on society. The Irish have just volunteered to pay for their pedophile clerics. Could anything be more depraved than for a people to pay for those who bugger their children?
sebreathnach 4 years ago
I'm not concerned with the church, I am concerned with your exaggerations. When referring to Ireland you state that the Catholic church owns "(all) its schools". Does it own the non-Catholic schools too? How the muslim schools? Are they "muslim-catholics"? lol.
jratt2 4 years ago
What it doesn't own doesn't really matter. We, the taxpayers, pay for it. As you well know. Now , if you want to talk to me further, you will have to come out of hiding....

Frankly, I'm sick of politicians discussing religion.
kennyworth1967 4 years ago
the only Irish Catholic president of our country.
this highlights the kind of kook, religious conservatives weirdos that we have in our country that would rather elect a moron like George Bush than elect a Catholic.
JFK is the greatest President the United States has ever had...

Yes but he was said to have offended his own church. Have you seen the vid with the speech where he says keep the church opinion out of the office? Some didn't like that spoken outloud by a man of his stature It made the Jesuits mad

The U.S. Constitution DEMANDS their be separation of Church and State.
You may not know it to look at the republicans, all trying to "out Jesus " eachother..
It's getting so that I expect them to appear at the next debate adorned in robes and riding a donkey.
