Yes, Photoshop does amazing things. And makeup isn't b needed by many people! And makeup is usually used in video presentations to highlight the contrasts and lower the effects of harsh or low lighting - a very acceptable use.
But makeup can be helpful with those wanting to make a good example on a first meeting - when looks can be important for attraction from others.
The inner beauty or inner ugly - that is what people eventually see and remember you by. And your inner beauty is awesome!.
I don't like calling people out on stuff, but there's something very contradictory about saying societal standards of beauty aren't real while choosing to put random chemicals on your face in order to cater to those standards...though I guess it's a necessity in your line of work.

Ive been angry about the standards of beauty set by the media for a long time, its disgusting really. i also think that plastic surgery (outside of the confines of repairing serious damage like cleft lips and say repairing damaged left by breast cancer surgery etc.) should be illegal. We shouldn't be wasting good doctors time sucking the fat out of your butt or making you breasts 2 sizes bigger. Problem is I know of no way to repair the damage done by our society to our own psyche's.

A part of me understands what you're saying. She tells herself that personality is more important than looks and that beauty is all in the eye of the beholder. She laughs without worries.
But then she'll watch a show on tv, she'll browse through tumblr, she'll see an ad with a celebrity, she'll look at models and all of her previous thoughts disappear, and all thats left is self criticism..
I think its over rated. I mean by standards today you need to have make up to look beautiful and I know that more and more people are resorting to plastic surgery to look beautiful too. I think its just over rated. If your comfortable within your own skin than thats good for you, don't let anyone get you down or don't let anyone influence you on how you should look because they are not you only YOU know if you look good and that should be good enough. I know that you look good already Arden.
What we need to realize the most is that beauty is defined in so many ways. Every culture has their own definition of what is beautiful. It would be hard to mold yourself to fit everyone's standards. In the end, what defines beauty is interchangeable & changes everyday. If we focus so much on what one person or industry thinks we miss out on what true beauty really is. So what is true beauty? I think that's a definition we all have to define for ourselves. Embrace yourself, love yourself.

hearing about beauty from someone as beautiful and sucessful as arden makes you realize that its true. beauty isnt as its percieved. beauty is more than looking perfect its on the inside that counts. and if you manage to be beautiful on the outside then the more then better. beauty is not how it is shown. beuaty is natural. the beauty you see is fake. theres nothing real or beautiful about someone plastic, photoshopped or enhanced.

@denshaotoko89 you're missing the the whole point. I'm simply listing the features that are traditionally considered beautiful, and Arden just happens to have all of them. These features are highly revered in Asian cultures (esp Korea) and people get surgery every day to get them. I never said people who didn't have big eyes or tall cheek bones weren't beautiful either, some people look good without them. I just meant to say Arden has all of these features, AND she looks gorgeous :)

hearing about beauty from someone as beautiful and sucessful as arden makes you realize that its true. beauty isnt as its percieved. beauty is more than looking perfect its on the inside that counts. and if you manage to be beautiful on the outside then the more then better. beauty is not how it is shown. beuaty is natural. the beauty you see is fake. theres nothing real or beautiful about someone plastic, photoshopped or enhanced.

@ardenBcho what??? Arden, physically you are a knock out. Girls get surgery everyday to hope to look half as good as you. You have big eyes, double eyelids, a tall nose bridge, great cheek bones, and hot hair. There is no feature about you that you need to be insecure about. And don't even get me started on how beautiful of a person you are on the inside as well!! It saddens me when girls who are so beautiful inside and out like you could EVER be insecure :/

@denshaotoko89 you're missing the the whole point. I'm simply listing the features that are traditionally considered beautiful, and Arden just happens to have all of them. These features are highly revered in Asian cultures (esp Korea) and people get surgery every day to get them. I never said people who didn't have big eyes or tall cheek bones weren't beautiful either, some people look good without them. I just meant to say Arden has all of these features, AND she looks gorgeous :)

I wanted to show her why that's ridiculous and she has absolutely nothing to worry about. Way to misconstrue my comment into an issue about race.
