  • I'ts Real MMA

    BRASILLLLLLLLL!

     :D é nois

  • vale tudo old fight....

mam is the new name of vale-tudo..

the name changed to sell the sport easier..

  • Pankration was completely different to MMA ... do abit of research first mate

  • @martinods your arguing semantics, yeah pankration had a diff rule set, but its still MIXED MARTIAL ARTS, think about it, diff styles of fighting put toghether, grappling, striking 2 types of combat arts, mixed together......

  • beautiful judo throws.. uchi mata and harai goshi.. great Carlson!

  • tio carlson descanse em paz...

  • brazilian sport

    not american

  • I saw wrestling, Judo, Sambo and of course GJJ and this was 1951!

  • KIMURA FOREVER!

  • Santana beat the heck outta Kimura... It ended in a draw, but Kimura wrote he was beaten very badly in his book "My Judo"

  • Nope,Santana got beat By Kimura-thats in his BOOK!

  • @RobbieH02879 The first match between Kimura and Santana was probably grappling only. Kimura won. Santana asked for a rematch where striking would be allowed. The second match ended in a draw after forty minutes of exhausting, highly charged action.

  • Willparadigm, Its a lot of no gi options in Judo and they have always existed, like hadaka-Jime. Some tecniques can you only perform when your opponent wears gi or clothes, like label chokes and some of the throws.

In general grappling gets less slippery and much better grappling action can be performed with a uniform on all types of tecniques. I guess the reason to fight without GI in MMA is because it will disfavour american wrestlers and boxers that are not used to it...

  • but , fort gods sake , train whit both!!!!!!!!

    its not that difficult!!!!!!!!

  • MMA is a sport... just because it is similar to a street fight, doesn't mean it is a street fight. That's why there are rules to mma. In the street, anything goes.

  • @rjcampa duh

  • Basically you just need to make a moderate to firm pressures on the sinus caroticus bloodwessels on side of neck, and the nervepoint in front and within 4-8 seconds your opponent goes to sleep.

My favorite was to put the

agressor down on his frontside(stomac/chest) and pressing him down on his back, choking with a koshi-jime or okuri - eri - jime. And on those occations I never teared anything. I also stand firm on my opinion...

  • Years ago I used to work as a guardian ("bumper") in a nightclub, and in those years I put four "agressors" to sleep (not at the same time though;-)) with collar chokes on dress shirts only. They are very effective, and streetfights ends usually before you tear off all clothes. I agree a normal shirt will be to weak for MMA fighting - but they may be sufficient to finish an agressor outside the octagon. In sport fighting you need stronger stuff to avoid tearing like a GI or KURTKA .

  • Even if you don't grip the clothes directly everything gets less "slippery" and much better action can be performed. You can perform some very interesting chokes even with a shirt.

JUDO and SAMBO was originally created for unarmed fighing and the creators understood the importance of clothes in real life fighting.

  • From the standpoint that people almost ALWAYS wear some clothes when they fight in the streets or everywhere - execept perhaps on the beach...

  • There should at least have been one MMA division fighting in GI or some fighting uniform. Fighting almost naked, as wrestlers, boxers and UFC does, is an american tradition and less realistic, if you compare it to real life fighting.

Put on some uniform and you are changing the game completly, you will se much more interesting fights and more realistic too...

  • I totally agree. It would turn possible a lot of Gi chokes to be applied, even if the opponent isn't wearing anything.

  • i agree.

most of people say that submission wrestling training is more realistic the gi training (like bjj) because "people dont use gis in the street"

but , noone in the street goes nearly naked , maybe in the beach

but theyre wrong cause you can use lots of gi chokes whit the shirt of your oponnent

  • Take a look on some of the hockey fights here on Youtube - they almost always grab the clothes when fighting. Peoples grab the clothes on INSTINCTS in real fights... The GI and the KURTKA are created to imitate clothes to make it more realistic...

  • no they dont. and thats a horrible example, they are hockey players, if they knew how to fight then they wouldnt be playing hockey, and even if they did know how to fight they grab each other because they are on unstable skates with no surface area balancing on ice trying to fight another grown man in body army , so it helps to hold the guy to pick shots easier, dumb ass. You need to go think about what you're saying. in real life clothes will rip if you grab them.

  • @matwizard well i can stop this arguing right now alot of bjj is without the gi go watch some eddie bravo...

  • Yeah you're right because there are SO MANY champions in ADCC and in mundials who use 10th planet jiu jitsu. come to think of it, just because eddie won one match, against one guy, 7 years ago , does not mean his system is this best nor is eddie bravo a grappling god. you are just dumb enough to listen to joe rogan.

  • @seigemma4 NONE of Eddie Bravo's guys from 10th Planet EVER win ANY of the major tournaments. NONE of his guys win - period. You can look up the results from the Pan Ams and the Worlds both gi and no gi and see for yourself there are ZERO 10th planet guys who won. BJJ started with the gi, that is the traditional way to practice, started in Japan. The Vale tudo fights were without the gi, that's just how it was, but Carlson trained with the gi. Bravo and his dumb names for old positions...

  • @3Daver I never said any of eddie bravos guys did win any major tournaments? i never even said anything about 10th planet bjj? i train with a gi at tarpeins muay thai shinsho karate and bjj in moline illinois i just said i compete no gi because thats what i prefer because i want to go into mma when im 18 and just want to prepare better for it. not sure why you went on a rant?

  • @3Daver eddie is too high on weed to motivate his guys.

  • @birlisa1 i can stop this arguement right now alot of bjj is no gi so it really doesnt matter you can compete in both divisions. and the gi isnt created to imitate clothes. it was originally made to be the sacred clothing in the dojo

  • @sachamord Also mate many bjj practitioners compete in both gi and no gi tourneys.... i always compete no gi you can check some vids im going to upload of some key locks and things here soon

  • Fedor its a Sambo and Judo pactitioner...then ther karo, Yoshida, Sokoudju, yong Dong Sink, Dong Hyun Kim, Yoshiuki Yoshida, makoto takimoto, pawel nastula, kazuhiro nakamura...those are all the ones I can think off

  • You forgot Sexyama.

  • Yeah I forgot Akiyama(sexyama JAJAJAJA) THE self proclaimed KOREAN MICHAEL JACKSON hes a good striker as well...

  • caramba, o nivel tecnico dos caras n fica devendo mt p os de hj nao....

  • Carlson avenged Helio's loss in this match. This match is legend in Brazil

  • Just to inform:

Master Helio Gracie actually lost a fight to this same opponent, Waldemar Santana, which was a former student, under Master Helio.

Soon after that, Carlson won this match.

  • temq representa

  • carlson branch of gracie jiu jitusu is definitely better

  • so what exactly happened? either its too quick for me to catch or its blocked

  • well honestly media the one that taught carlson daddy was a bad man now if you thought they were good then watch him also it was another japanese guy he was no joke either kamura beat helio gracia

  • Damn look at the technique of Carlson. And they said Karo is the only one who can incorporate throws like this.

I wish I would have met him before he died. It would have been a great honor.

  • Looks like a modern fight, in black and white. Thanks for posting

  • Holy shit, Carlson was badass.

Those techniques he was using we're WAY ahead of their time.

  • nooo im pretty sure judo and jujitsu was around for a while...hehehe...still badass though...

  • yea but u dont see those trows very often, only karo hehe

  • ummm noooo he has judo credentials...that why when he throws someone people notice...mma fighters use judo a lot if u watch carefully...

  • Actually Judo is very underrepresented in MMA (UFC is the dominant brand and they love their wrestlers). In Japan it is used more but not fully. Yoshida and Karo obviously, but also Rickson, Fedor (variation) and only a few others. There are many styles/disciplines that are not represented in MMA yet. Very little of the Chinese Martial Arts are used besides the San Shou used by Cung Le. Even high caliber Boxing is woefully underrepresented. This looked like Rickson Gracie v Zulu 20 years later.

  • lol Fedor is sambo KING!! But yea...its much easier to shoot a double then set up for an ashi garuma...maybe thats why it's underrepresented....

  • top dudes like fedor and silva can box. i think the reason for many martialarts not being in is their being inefectual

  • Ye they love their wrestlers, becus Wrestling is the martial arts of Americka, simple as that.

  • dont forget Lyoto machidas Shotokan Karate...in a way Wrestling will always beat judo in mma.

  • westling wont always beat judo in mma, you're retarded.

  • not entirely always..but the majority of the times..and you know it, so shut it.

  • if i "knew it" then why would i say otherwise?

its only the judokas who dont know how to make the transition from gi to no gi who arn't as good, but the ones who know how to fight well without a guy fuck up wrestlers every time. karo is a good example.

  • well Karo hasnt fought any elite wrestler in the UFC, except great wrestler Sean sherk, in wich Karo got demolished 2 times, also Gsp faced Karo, and demolished karo with the wrestling, Diego sanchez demolished karo with the takedowns, and these werent even the elite wrestlers like Matt Hughes, Josh koscheck and Jon Fitch..so there goes your karo, stupid.

  • well gsp did not demolish karo, karo had him in trouble several times but wasnt able to lock in his moves. like the kimura he had em wit, gsp did a great job getting out and escaping but he out muscled karo for the most part. u must forget how nakamura beat kevin randelman! wrestlers are always open for sweeps in the clinch. do ur homework man

  • Judo beats wrestling hands down!

  • i wish more of these old vale tudo fights were available

  • 1955?? MMA existed then??

  • Yeah. Awesome, huh?

  • mma existed since ancient greece, go check out pankration on wikipedia

  • @mrphilosophical or buy a book and get an information available since about ancient greece.

  • @mrphilosophical you say mixed martial arts equals to pankration? clear your facts mister :)

  • @mrphilosophical mma existed before that...since ancient AFRICA. Go check the Black Africans painted on the pyramids. And this is a TERRIFIC match; the first time that I saw film of the legendary match between Carlson and Waldemar. That brutha Waldemar was an amazing dude. So was Carlson. Long live their legends. This video is vale tudo, not MMA. MMA is a sport crafted for ratification and regulation by Sports Commissions in the USA&has specific, comprehensive rules.

  • Carlson was a genius!!!

  • Carlson was the greatest Gracie fighter ever.
