@LTAndriukas Soon, soon. I'm adding footage to part 19 as soon as it is filmed. I just want to finish the current sheet metal repair and then the episode will be released. Maybe even this weekend. At the very latest, next week.
hi i have a rx-7 1982 that i was thinking to restore im wathcing you working on your car an i need to repair the12a engine i am from puerto rico let me know if you know someone that do that write me faras_tuning@yahoo.com for ideas thanks
@RaPPeRXtazy This week I hope to finish the rear inner sill repair and if that happens, I'll be blasting the front end this weekend. At which point I should have enough reasonably interesting footage to start editing part 19...so soon, I promise. :-)
@DarkPrince013 Hopefully soon. Just finishing an inner sill repair that I've been working on since September. Not because it has actually taken that long, but because I keep getting interrupted. Once that is put to bed (aiming for this weekend) I can move on to sand blasting the front end, which should result in enough footage to put out episode 19.
show a clip of you cutting welding grinding of the huge rust holes from under the fenders that had the patches, I watched all your videos in about 3hrs, great project, nothing like Japanese classics
@luis121677 When I have enough footage to make another episode worth it. Due to being sick for the last month and some other stuff, I have not had much time to work on the car. And the work I did do was all sheet metal, which we've all seen me do on camera before, so I haven't been filming every step. I may have enough footage over the next two weeks to at least release a short episode.
@muchogoocho Air suspension. The rear is easy as it will just be a matter of bags and shocks since the Cosmo has a factory 4 link. The fronts will take a bit more effort because of the MacPherson setup with only a lower control arm. The bottom of the shock also bolts directly to the lower ball joint so I'm sure I'll be fabricating up some adapters once I find a good MacPherson air strut assembly of the appropriate dimensions. Possible FC front subframe swap as measurements are close.
@aaroncake how close are the measurements? if it's your daily and you don't mind shit handling thats fine and dandy how it is, but if your shooting for performance i'd definitely get your fc swap welds (judging by your own commentary on your welding skills) checked for safety. its almost going to need that swap i'd guess if your gonna give it any power. also googling i found this guy who has SOME good points to make =P members.tripod.com/mazda_cosmo/id4.html
@muchogoocho Replies to come in several comments, since it will take more typing than YouTube allows in one reply. The Cosmo front suspension is actually laid out very similar to the FC front suspension. A single lower A arm with a MacPherson strut. Strut bottoms are similar to SA/FB with a built in spindle. The FC subframe would get me a rack and pinion but it is much deeper than the Cosmo subframe. Might have to modify the frame rails and if that is the case, I'll stick with the Cosmo...
@aaroncake ...subframe. There are no worries with my welds. I just like to point out mistakes I may make (when welding thin, old and rusty sheet metal) on camera. No way I'd be using a 110V 70A MIG for any suspension changes. I'd TIG weld any alterations I make to the shocks, spindles or any other suspension part. Nice website but everything he suggests sort of elementary and well below what I'll be doing in making major suspension changes.
@aaroncake personally i'd throw on some adjustables, drop 2" with the right springs (might be a nightmare to find?) on some wide wheels but skip air all around (helper bags maybe) because that stuff is always worth more trouble than some proper coil rates from the beginning. but if your doin air and doin it right (good valves, switches, compressor, tanks, and lines that don't rub) you'll still get two thumbs up from so cali! your attention to detail amazes keep it up!
@muchogoocho Dropping the car 2" would make it impractical to drive. Air is the only choice to be able to get that stance when parked, but have the car actually drivable and handling rather well. This will be my first air suspension but believe me, it will be done correctly. Auto levelling and all the good stuff.
@Sylwek1091 When it is ready. Because I'm not including all the sheet metal work I'm doing, I don't have much footage so it will take a while before I have enough to do part 19.
@mafesto74 It may be a little while longer because if I'm not filming all the sheet metal work I'm doing, it will take longer to have enough content to make another video. Well, I was gonna talk shit cause you hadn't posted part 19 yet, but now I feel bad having heard your sick! Lol. That sucks about your Honda. They aren't supposed to do that. Lol! Hope to see the new video posted soon. Get well, both of you.
Kick ass video collection of your restoration Aaron, do you work on these cars (Mazda rotary's) for a living or just for pleasure? Btw definetly summary of grinding and spot welding lol, thanks for sharing your hard work, you really need to be on tv. Overhauling aint got shit on you!
@axm203 My day job is as a computer tech, I just do this evenings and weekends. Actually I've been sick for a week and have not worked on the car. And right now, my 2000 Insight is in my shop for a transmission rebuild and brake replacement. Should be back on the Cosmo by the end of next weekend if all goes well. Next step is to sand blast the engine bay and in that footage, there will be some random sheet metal repairs.
Just do a whole bunch, but only record the last section before it gets a coat of paint, then we can see it what has been done off camera, and film the whole process for the more fun and random bits.
As always, great vids Aaron. I must agree with a lot of the users who posted their comments here, you should film less of the sheet metal, except for the difficult area's. Would love to see you fiddle around with the electrics and the more 'mechanical' stuff. Love your videos man, can't wait to get back to my rx7.
@dondebest I myself can't wait to get to all that good stuff, but first I have to finish the sheet metal. I'm working on getting the whole front end done now so I get get to fabricating the steering and engine related stuff as well as figuring out how to do the air suspension.
About half a year ago I was looking up something to do for my car and I came across your videos. I've been watching them ever since. I have to say, this is pretty cool that you're doing a full restore. As for you doing the sheet metal and deciding to put it here, I'd choose the latter option - do the more interesting things instead. It sucks there's so many repairs but as a viewer I'd like to see difficult things done rather than the same thing over and over again. Kudos to your awesome work.
I think you have enough footage in this series to show how to do simple and not-so-simple sheet metal repair. Give us a rundown of the problem spots once they're finished. As interesting as the teardown and metal repair is, I'm anxious for the next phases to begin :-)
looks boring and tedious or time consuming ima watch whatever you post i personaly would hate to edit this stuff...do your thing bro! just make sure you do a walk around after your done like before and after that would be easier than filming and editing the whole process!!
i think all the vids with the 'boring' stuff is still interesting but maybe just do what you said, make one vid with a summary of all the sheet work done.
Atleast your going to the effort of showing people how to do it :)
You've got me itching to see this thing get wrapped up--kills me when it's more than a couple/few weeks between updates. I don't care if it's another 6 months of cut, patch, weld, grind, just keep the updates rolling!
@StevenTWolfe so I just saw the end of the video--if you can knock it out faster without filming then take a few weeks and do it, but give me some kind of update every ~4 weeks, even if it's short
Great to see whats involved in the whole process of doing up an old car -dreaming of taking on a project at some stage in the future! Maybe an old mini! So I enjoy watching all of it -however if you want to just turn on the camera when its more interesting or when you think of a cracker joke do that! Go on ya boyo!!
@vin804 Just remember that rust never sleeps, and what you see is only 10% of what's there. Oh, and also, sheet metal is seriously boring work to perform, more boring to film, and even more boring to watch for 20 minutes. :-) Most of the feedback I have received indicates people only want to see the most interesting sheet metal, which is fine by me.
a nice summary of sheet metal work would be good, can't wait to see what's next afterwards. i live in buffalo and we got that same storm a few hours after you it was wicked, people give the man props for his commitment!!
It'd be nice to see things progress quicker (less cut, weld & grind), but it'd kind of ruin the whole documentary feel of these videos. How about doing a montage of the remaining 'boring' sheet metal, with highlights on the non-obvious items in each, then the normal video for the interesting bits? Since it'd be video anyway, the 'boring' sheet metal work could be uploaded as episode 19.1, 19.2, 19.3 and so on
Good vid but i think we get the point of repairing all rusted parts
i think what you can do is just a slide show like Shot of the rusted spot then welded in then finished result. Save you time filming and you show all the things you done on the car. And you still be able to show us all the good parts which is a bit more important and unique for the build.
Love the videos. I wish I had the time, space and tools to do the same kind of project. Looking forward to seeing the fun stuff though, so you can skip the metal work, even if it means a longer wait to the next video.
for the love of god ONLY SHOW THE INTRESTING BITS please haha - and if it will get vid 19 up faster ill donate towards your bloody drill press! just send me your paypal :-D haha
by the way the 13b going in my rex next is looking pretty sweet in red and black thanks to your painting vids ;-) ill get a picture up or something when im putting her in the car :-D
@cower16 Thank you! Though the vote seems to be towards leaving out most of the repetitive sheet metal work, which I am in agreement with. I'll just cover much of the remaining sheet metal in summary except where interesting/important repairs take place...such as the frame rail, and what I'll need to do to access that area I pointed at below my crotch in this video. And likely one side of the inner fender.
your videos are very interesting, i've never seen a guy put so much work into a bunch of technical videos about his car like that. Altough they might seem long for some, they are just right for the more hardcore guys out there. But for the sheet metal, i think we got through the subject, so feel free to just do a summary of it once it's done.
stumbled across your videos a month or so back, spent hours watching from start to finish, then spent a month subscribed to your channel waiting for Part18 to come lol... its all great work.
My opinion? As interesting and expertly executed as all the sheet metal is, the last couple videos have been a bit "same-ish"
I say blitz it all off camera and post up a summary of all the work done, leaving in any video footage of anything interesting you find (like more mice bedding or whatever, lol)
Looks like YouTube has spoken. I'll only show the most interesting sheet metal stuff, or things that are relevant in some way. I'll see about an empty mockup engine so I can do some other stuff and maybe just show pieces of sheet metal repair here and there. But there is still a lot of sheet metal to do, and I can't move on until it's finished. So it may be a little while before I have enough other work to make a video with. Does media blasting an engine bay count as sheet metal?
@yerboogieman Under varying definitions of fun, probably. Going to have to tent up the whole area with plastic, but I now have an air supplied blasting hood so that will make things a bit better. Currently removing the rusted inner fender pontoon pieces because there's no point in blasting them...they are already quite dead. Finding all the spot welds to drill out has been time consuming.
Cool Colors! thanks for letting us get a chance to participate in what you video, that is awsome! I think your second idea is best., repair ,weld, grind the interesting stuff so you can get to show the real interesting stuff like everything else...peace'
@yerboogieman Yes. The battery pack is made up of 120 1.2V NiMH "C" cells. They screw together in rods, the rods go into modules and the modules make up the pack. The motor controller is an inverter that then sends AC to the 10KW 3 phase motor. The battery pack also provides 12V to the rest of the electrical system via a DC-DC converter. Battery voltage gets about as high as 170V during regen braking.
That's a tough one Aaron. I'd just secretly leave out the boring stuff (I doubt anyone would notice) and mostly show the interesting stuff, such as making the crossmember on the floor. But show anything with the engine bay. Sweet graphics and camera angles.
@yerboogieman Not actually sure what I'm going to do about the seat crossmember, mainly because I don't know what I'm doing for seats. Presumably any more modern seats are going to have different mounting points, so I don't know whether it's worth the effort to repair the existing crossmember. In which case I have no idea why I bothered fixing a crack on the drivers side in a previous video.
@aaroncake For my suburban, someone got rid of the bench seat and made their own brackets so the seats didn't move forward or back. I had to completely remake the brackets and fit some S10 seats. So you should use a high-back RX-7 seat. ..Or find a guy named Charlie selling stuff out of his van.
@yerboogieman I *hate* it when people are so absolutely lazy that they can't even be bothered to make proper seat brackets. An upgrade is supposed to be better, not remove functionality. I'm probably going to a more modern seat with power functions. Others have told me to look at newer Audi seats, but I want to stick with a cloth seat. I'll have to take a walk through a wrecking yard to see what is available before I make a decision.
I love the videos Aaron! You have inspired me to get back working on my project which I keep putting on the backburner. But I actually started degreasing my engine with the kerosene as you suggested and copious amounts of super clean. Lol. Its coming along. Keep up the great work.
@WhatTheHellsAGigawat I didn't realize you were using it to degrease the engine. Skip the kerosene, and instead just use SuperClean. Kerosene isn't a very good degreaser, it's more for removing undercoating.
@jefa1234 Since people don't want to see all my sheet metal work (truthfully, neither do I), I can't predict when we'll see a part 19 since I have a LOT of sheet metal to do.
@socamoto Civic? CIVIC?! Sir, you have insulted my honor and I demand retribution. That is a 2000 Honda Insight. Now, as the challenged, the choice of duelling weapons is yours.
That's a great idea, plus I'm a body tech,& I think you are being a little bit of a perfectionist, not bad but some places no body is going to see those weld & you don't need to be grinding so much. A little bit of seam sealer & under coating over those welded areas & anybody would never gonna be able to tell that you fixed & welded there. Most of that is going to be cover by something anyways . My advise. Big fan. Oh I'm looking for a 84 13b oil cooler. Do you happened to one available for sal
@mafesto74 I've done a few other under floor repairs off camera that I haven't spent as much time grinding down. But I do have a philosophical issue with welding in a patch and leaving the welds visible. In my mind, the repair should be pretty invisible unless it is along a factory seam. However I'm not on the clock, it's only costing me time, so I can afford to waste it by metal finishing welds into invisibility. :-) I don't have any non-leaking '84 oil coolers around.
@01bruno10 I'll for sure be showing the repair of the inner fenders and associated area because it will be a BIG repair. But I'll probably just show the driver side and do a "ditto" for the passenger side. I'm still hoping someone will step forward with some inner fender/pontoon panels from a parts Cosmo but so far, no luck.
Another excellent instalment... I think there is little Aaron can do to "cut out the boring/repetitive bits" - I am sure he has already edited these down from hours and it goes to show how laborious, repetitive and "boring" the restoration project can be. I certainly would not have the balls to take on such a project, and congratulate Aaron on his hard work, dedication and LOVE for the rotary beast. Cannot wait for the next instalment and see the final results start to come together! :-)
Get a cloth over the windscreen when you grind you are going to ruin the glass. I know...Clean the screen and look. I don't mind welding vids it's fun watching someone else!
@henryv8 Usually there's something over the window when I grind near it, I guess I just forgot this time. Since it will need to be polished anyway (there are wiper marks etched into the glass) I'm not overly worried about it. But you're right, it should be covered.
sheet metal stuff sucks can it, vid 18 took over a month of waiting and i skimmed through it in 2mins cause of how boring it is to watch this kind of body work
I watched every minutes of your 1-18 cosmo restoration and what I think is option be caus im tired of watching it and makes me not wanna fix my old honda and scrap it for a younger one hahaha!
@MrYoanEmond That's the thing about restoration work, a lot of it is very repetitive and boring. Sheet metal repairs can be hugely time consuming when you suck at it like I do.
For the question, I suggest a montage of all the highlights before you move onto the more fun stuff. Also put the montage to DVDA's montage song of course! =D
and to answer your question Aaron, you do whatever you want. If you want to do your sheet metal work and then just throw up a 5 min video from time to time showing what you got done, go for it.
@mdobilas I think since most of the audience seems to not want to watch every minute of sheet metal work, I'm only going to show the most interesting stuff. Or at least, spread a lot of the work out in small segments so it's not (as) boring.
Did anyone else think Aaron was channeling the "wacky arm waving inflatable arm flailing tubeman" from family guy when he showed us the tornado going on outside?
Great work on the car Aaron, love watching your channel.
I think doing most stuff off camera would be fine, but if there is anything interesting or a way you do something that would help someone else out don't be afraid to put some boring stuff in there too. Keep making great vids!
Do the sheet metal stuff off camera and show us the fun stuff ;) Not to be a downer but you would spend time cutting video that we don't wanna see so just get the "booring" sheet metal stuff done and get back to us with interesting stuff :) Love your project btw :)
@habu9999 some people actually want to see them parts, hes not making an entertainment show hes building a classic, and using videos as his documentation. if you dont like his style get lost !
@ducatiracing And some people don't, that's why he asked! Personally, i would rather see the more interesting sheet metal work, and leave most of it off camera. I would rather you not have to worry about setting up a camera and editing hours of grinding and get all that mess out of the way as quick as possible to get on the the cooler parts of the build.
@baggedandblown That's what I think I'm going to do. No sense showing every bit of every repair, especially because there is a lot of it. The time saved by not having to deal with the camera is actually quite significant.
@aaroncake I can imagine, you seem to set up a camera for every little detail of the work you do, which i enjoy. Not many people would be willing to piss about with a camera to film them cutting some steel on a band saw.
By the way, do you not own a drill press? Your vice and drill technique looks a bit awkward. Just saying!
@baggedandblown A drill press has been on the "things to buy" list for years but I've always put it off by spending money on other things. Last time I upgraded the air compressor instead of getting a drill press. However I think there is a small bench top model on sale at my local Princess Auto for under $100, so as I pass by this afternoon I'm going to take a look. I'd like to be able to drill a straight hole for once (is that what she said?).
@habu9999 I appologize I never meant to appear as though I'm a wanker, I just enjoy them segments of his videos because I myself have an old mazda that I need to build and this is good help for me

Atleast your going to the effort of showing people how to do it :)
eightsixboy1 5 months ago
You've got me itching to see this thing get wrapped up--kills me when it's more than a couple/few weeks between updates. I don't care if it's another 6 months of cut, patch, weld, grind, just keep the updates rolling!
StevenTWolfe 5 months ago
@StevenTWolfe so I just saw the end of the video--if you can knock it out faster without filming then take a few weeks and do it, but give me some kind of update every ~4 weeks, even if it's short
StevenTWolfe 5 months ago
Great to see whats involved in the whole process of doing up an old car -dreaming of taking on a project at some stage in the future! Maybe an old mini! So I enjoy watching all of it -however if you want to just turn on the camera when its more interesting or when you think of a cracker joke do that! Go on ya boyo!!
vin804 5 months ago
@vin804 Just remember that rust never sleeps, and what you see is only 10% of what's there. Oh, and also, sheet metal is seriously boring work to perform, more boring to film, and even more boring to watch for 20 minutes. :-) Most of the feedback I have received indicates people only want to see the most interesting sheet metal, which is fine by me.
aaroncake 5 months ago
a nice summary of sheet metal work would be good, can't wait to see what's next afterwards. i live in buffalo and we got that same storm a few hours after you it was wicked, people give the man props for his commitment!!
MrTuner321 5 months ago
It'd be nice to see things progress quicker (less cut, weld & grind), but it'd kind of ruin the whole documentary feel of these videos. How about doing a montage of the remaining 'boring' sheet metal, with highlights on the non-obvious items in each, then the normal video for the interesting bits? Since it'd be video anyway, the 'boring' sheet metal work could be uploaded as episode 19.1, 19.2, 19.3 and so on
tsherwoodrzero 5 months ago
@tsherwoodrzero That's a pretty good idea and I'll consider doing just that.
aaroncake 5 months ago
Good vid but i think we get the point of repairing all rusted parts
i think what you can do is just a slide show like Shot of the rusted spot then welded in then finished result. Save you time filming and you show all the things you done on the car. And you still be able to show us all the good parts which is a bit more important and unique for the build.

cower16 5 months ago
@cower16 Thank you! Though the vote seems to be towards leaving out most of the repetitive sheet metal work, which I am in agreement with. I'll just cover much of the remaining sheet metal in summary except where interesting/important repairs take place...such as the frame rail, and what I'll need to do to access that area I pointed at below my crotch in this video. And likely one side of the inner fender.

your videos are very interesting, i've never seen a guy put so much work into a bunch of technical videos about his car like that. Altough they might seem long for some, they are just right for the more hardcore guys out there. But for the sheet metal, i think we got through the subject, so feel free to just do a summary of it once it's done.

sobi3ch 5 months ago
stumbled across your videos a month or so back, spent hours watching from start to finish, then spent a month subscribed to your channel waiting for Part18 to come lol... its all great work.
My opinion? As interesting and expertly executed as all the sheet metal is, the last couple videos have been a bit "same-ish"
I say blitz it all off camera and post up a summary of all the work done, leaving in any video footage of anything interesting you find (like more mice bedding or whatever, lol)
dragon2309 5 months ago
Looks like YouTube has spoken. I'll only show the most interesting sheet metal stuff, or things that are relevant in some way. I'll see about an empty mockup engine so I can do some other stuff and maybe just show pieces of sheet metal repair here and there. But there is still a lot of sheet metal to do, and I can't move on until it's finished. So it may be a little while before I have enough other work to make a video with. Does media blasting an engine bay count as sheet metal?
aaroncake 5 months ago
@aaroncake Nope, it counts as tons of fun!
yerboogieman 5 months ago
@yerboogieman Under varying definitions of fun, probably. Going to have to tent up the whole area with plastic, but I now have an air supplied blasting hood so that will make things a bit better. Currently removing the rusted inner fender pontoon pieces because there's no point in blasting them...they are already quite dead. Finding all the spot welds to drill out has been time consuming.
aaroncake 5 months ago
Cool Colors! thanks for letting us get a chance to participate in what you video, that is awsome! I think your second idea is best., repair ,weld, grind the interesting stuff so you can get to show the real interesting stuff like everything else...peace'

science945 5 months ago
Is the Insight really 144volts?
yerboogieman 5 months ago
@yerboogieman Yes. The battery pack is made up of 120 1.2V NiMH "C" cells. They screw together in rods, the rods go into modules and the modules make up the pack. The motor controller is an inverter that then sends AC to the 10KW 3 phase motor. The battery pack also provides 12V to the rest of the electrical system via a DC-DC converter. Battery voltage gets about as high as 170V during regen braking.
aaroncake 5 months ago
That's a tough one Aaron. I'd just secretly leave out the boring stuff (I doubt anyone would notice) and mostly show the interesting stuff, such as making the crossmember on the floor. But show anything with the engine bay. Sweet graphics and camera angles.
yerboogieman 5 months ago
@yerboogieman Not actually sure what I'm going to do about the seat crossmember, mainly because I don't know what I'm doing for seats. Presumably any more modern seats are going to have different mounting points, so I don't know whether it's worth the effort to repair the existing crossmember. In which case I have no idea why I bothered fixing a crack on the drivers side in a previous video.
aaroncake 5 months ago
@aaroncake For my suburban, someone got rid of the bench seat and made their own brackets so the seats didn't move forward or back. I had to completely remake the brackets and fit some S10 seats. So you should use a high-back RX-7 seat. ..Or find a guy named Charlie selling stuff out of his van.
yerboogieman 5 months ago

WhatTheHellsAGigawat 5 months ago
@WhatTheHellsAGigawat I didn't realize you were using it to degrease the engine. Skip the kerosene, and instead just use SuperClean. Kerosene isn't a very good degreaser, it's more for removing undercoating.

@aaroncake Opps! I meant to say engine BAY! Haha! Definitely not using it on the block.

@socamoto Are you sure, after seeing my prowess with the grinder in this video? Then again, since I'm sick of the grinder, I may just surrender.
aaroncake 5 months ago
That's a great idea, plus I'm a body tech,& I think you are being a little bit of a perfectionist, not bad but some places no body is going to see those weld & you don't need to be grinding so much. A little bit of seam sealer & under coating over those welded areas & anybody would never gonna be able to tell that you fixed & welded there. Most of that is going to be cover by something anyways . My advise. Big fan. Oh I'm looking for a 84 13b oil cooler. Do you happened to one available for sal
mafesto74 5 months ago
@mafesto74 I've done a few other under floor repairs off camera that I haven't spent as much time grinding down. But I do have a philosophical issue with welding in a patch and leaving the welds visible. In my mind, the repair should be pretty invisible unless it is along a factory seam. However I'm not on the clock, it's only costing me time, so I can afford to waste it by metal finishing welds into invisibility. :-) I don't have any non-leaking '84 oil coolers around.
aaroncake 5 months ago
I just interested on the fender work. the rest of metal work is unnecessary to be posted. Thanks for the vids.
01bruno10 5 months ago
@01bruno10 I'll for sure be showing the repair of the inner fenders and associated area because it will be a BIG repair. But I'll probably just show the driver side and do a "ditto" for the passenger side. I'm still hoping someone will step forward with some inner fender/pontoon panels from a parts Cosmo but so far, no luck.
aaroncake 5 months ago
Another excellent instalment... I think there is little Aaron can do to "cut out the boring/repetitive bits" - I am sure he has already edited these down from hours and it goes to show how laborious, repetitive and "boring" the restoration project can be. I certainly would not have the balls to take on such a project, and congratulate Aaron on his hard work, dedication and LOVE for the rotary beast. Cannot wait for the next instalment and see the final results start to come together! :-)

Get a cloth over the windscreen when you grind you are going to ruin the glass. I know...Clean the screen and look. I don't mind welding vids it's fun watching someone else!
henryv8 5 months ago
@henryv8 Usually there's something over the window when I grind near it, I guess I just forgot this time. Since it will need to be polished anyway (there are wiper marks etched into the glass) I'm not overly worried about it. But you're right, it should be covered.

and to answer your question Aaron, you do whatever you want. If you want to do your sheet metal work and then just throw up a 5 min video from time to time showing what you got done, go for it.
mdobilas 5 months ago
@mdobilas I think since most of the audience seems to not want to watch every minute of sheet metal work, I'm only going to show the most interesting stuff. Or at least, spread a lot of the work out in small segments so it's not (as) boring.

@ducatiracing Wow chillll, everyone's allowed to state their opinion
Decyph3rrrr 5 months ago
@ducatiracing And some people don't, that's why he asked! Personally, i would rather see the more interesting sheet metal work, and leave most of it off camera. I would rather you not have to worry about setting up a camera and editing hours of grinding and get all that mess out of the way as quick as possible to get on the the cooler parts of the build.
But that's just me.
baggedandblown 5 months ago
@baggedandblown That's what I think I'm going to do. No sense showing every bit of every repair, especially because there is a lot of it. The time saved by not having to deal with the camera is actually quite significant.
aaroncake 5 months ago
@aaroncake I can imagine, you seem to set up a camera for every little detail of the work you do, which i enjoy. Not many people would be willing to piss about with a camera to film them cutting some steel on a band saw.
By the way, do you not own a drill press? Your vice and drill technique looks a bit awkward. Just saying!
baggedandblown 5 months ago
@baggedandblown A drill press has been on the "things to buy" list for years but I've always put it off by spending money on other things. Last time I upgraded the air compressor instead of getting a drill press. However I think there is a small bench top model on sale at my local Princess Auto for under $100, so as I pass by this afternoon I'm going to take a look. I'd like to be able to drill a straight hole for once (is that what she said?).
