@joebruin666 No he didn't... mostly due to the emergence of MMA came at the end of his career. Damn near all K1 fighters that competed did really well in MMA, so IMO, its safe to say that he would have dominated in his weight class. Crocop for all his impressiveness was Not at Hoost's level and look at what he did.
@Blueslicks321 But styles are important. I'm not sure Peter Aerts could adjust to MMA given his more static style. Hoost likes to set up combos whilst Cro-Cop just charged in and fought aggressively, and his explosiveness lent well to MMA, being difficult to takedown. It's difficult to say.
@TenTonHorse I hear ya ...I use what Mark Hunt did as a bench mark and he's a static fighter (he almost beat Fedor in his prime...would have but gassed) .. so many were able to make the adjustment. I got to believe Hoost would have been able.. Just my opinion...
@Blueslicks321 Good point with Hunt; I guess that was just his raw strength. I think Hoost would have looked at Cro Cop's success if he went into MMA, and developed his punching power (he could hit hard when he wanted to but Hoost regularly sacrificed power for accuracy so he could set up combos, and he wouldn't have to perform technical combos against lower class strikers in MMA) and ring speed. Then who knows? I agree that he could have done well; I'm just pointing out the style issue.
I agree most technically overpowering Muay Thai fighter we will ever see! Can't imagine being on the end of that leg kick...makes me hurt just watching it.
Ernesto Hoost wanted to fight against Sapp in Amsterdam but Sapp sneaked away while he had a deal to fight with Hoost. It just shows how shit Sapp is and that Hoost is the one and Only. Sapp just whas lucky but he whasn't man enough to give Hoost his retirement fight: LOSER!!!!!
He lost to Semmy also. He retired with (98 wins) (19 losses) (1 Draw). I think Semmy's win was legit. The dood is like 9 feet tall with a 3 foot reach. Even though Hoost is 6'4" he was dwarfed by Semmy. Hoost and Aerts are still my Icons.
thats exactly how you have to describe it, beauty. His combonations as fast, powerful, clean and controled. I love the fact the finishes off every combination with a leg kick. Perfection. How he lost to the gaiant idiot Sapp I'll never know.
i think he lost to sapp because he is very 1 dimentional, he uses the same game on everyone which is power on power and sapp is more powerful because of his size. if he used more brain against sapp and moved like crocop he would win.
Your probably right. when fighting a brick wall you can throw all the combinations you want, it still wont make it fall.
One thing though, CroCrop (absolutly great fighter and deserved to win against sapp) but the way the fight went down crocop caught sapp with a luck punch that destroyed sapp orbital bone. I know crocop could have won either way but that punch wasnt one that would have ended any other fight in normal circumstances
Mr Hoost doesn't need to buy axes, he can just chop down trees with that right leg :-O
I swear that that thing shoots out from muscle memory! Press 5 for the money shot.

@TenTonHorse That's cool. I'm just S.W.A.G.ing (scientific wild ass guessing) but Anderson Silva reminds me of a smaller Hoost...
