  • my favourite live version

  • the best reason for crying

  • this is why i love radiohead.

  • great performance

  • Thom Yorke said in an interview that In Rainbows was "about the fucking panic of realising you're going to die!" That really comes through beautifully on this song, I tear up every time I hear it.

  • This has an even more haunting feeling on the rhodes!

  • I love this band and the song is sublime. Every once in a while you get a band or an artist that really changes things, and this is one of them. BTW If you like this check out my music, it has a similar kind of vibe.

  • nd there better then the beatles *not many ppl agree xD*

  • mr bodysnatchers324 has tha right idea

  • give me the fucking hi hat haha

  • This music goes above and beyond heaven or what anybody believes....no offense to anybody though

  • my ex wife hates RH - she always said that they are sooo depressing, that she cant listen them..its soo wrong..the have a lot of good force in that what they doing..they are not sad..sadness is all those people who think tkat RH is depressing so they dont even try to past this, try to enter those sounds..

  • so agree with you!

  • thats why she's your ex wife

  • i have the same problem with many people.

    their problem not ours.

  • indeed!

  • two words my friend

    Fuck - Her

    =]

  • what a beautiful expression of love and appreciation. this is how everybody feels when think they about death.

  • people think of radiohead as this really depressing band so it its kind of ironic that they wrote the most beautiful song ever written

  • they've written alot of beautiful songs man, people just dont get true beauty or true talent anymore, unless your screaming/crying into the mic, or rapping about drugs and hoes and clubs and where's mah nigga at, you aint shit!!!!!! beauty and true emotion is bullshit now, so radiohead sucks and is depressing, heh, fucked up world we live in huh?

  • i just broke up with my girlfriend, she left me...just wanted to dedicade this one to her..."Because I know

Today has been the most perfect day I have ever seen."

i love this song, all sad feelings mixed in one song...thx radiohead...

  • This is a truly beatuiful song but it disturbs me in a sence. It's like a goodbye song to all RH fans, or at least that's how I see it. Hope to god I'm wrong though...

  • They're working on a new cd as we speak, and one of the songs on it is available on youtube. It's called Supercollider.

  • wow that dude was like a foot away from thom the whole time

    lucky fuck

  • What I like so much about Radiohead is that communal following they inspire.

I think too many people hate them without even listening to them properly, and I think because they have such a loyal following, the band and their fans feel alienated when it comes to their music.

Resulting in a sort of alliance- us against the world.

I cannot wait to experience that in the flesh on the 24th of June.

  • @KimdraculaM I see your point I hate when I listen to a song and then I want to show my friends that song and they're like eew it's radiohead.... I'm like ok guys your loss

  • This song is the song that makes me wake up from all my daily routine dreams. If Buddha could sing, he'd sign this to me.

  • Nothing more could be added.

  • I think it's so cool how on pretty much every radiohead video on youtube there are all these people who are waiting to see them on this tour. Im waiting, Vancouver Augest 19th!

  • That lady is close enough to touch thom... I'm so jealous....

  • This is the best ending song for In Rainbow Album

  • today has been the most perfect day ive ever seen

  • You all need to check out the Bonnaroo version of this song. This version is beautiful but it does not compare. The bonnaroo version is so Powerful. Also,I dont think this version will work in a festival or large venue. Frankly, I was disappointed in the studio version after hearing it live in 2006.

  • Ive never seen an audience this transfixed and silent...increadible...thom recently said that this is the best thing hes ever written and i can see his point...just stunning...cant wait to see this live...

  • man this song is perfect.

    simply beautiful.

there are no words to describe its perfection :]

  • About 4:10 in, you couldn't cut the tension with an axe

  • This version should just so be the album version this even fits better with the other songs on the album the ambient sounds the keyboard so good

  • I think it's one of Radiohead's best songs, and that's saying a lot

  • It would be nice if they had kept the live version they did on the 06 tour, as the live 'uns generally carry more energy.

    My fiftieth of a dollar.

  • I like that version too

  • im praying that they play that version this tour.

  • amazing lyrics + beautiful musical atmosphere = Videotape

This song gets me every time

  • There isn't a band alive today that compares to Radiohead,Coldplay isn't even in there league.

  • if they dont come to mexico ill have to travel veeery far...

  • me too

  • all of us jajaja

  • todabian no encuentran la satisfaccion?

  • que mas quieren?

  • Coldplay could only dream of writing lyrics like these...

  • @HolyCanoley Coldplay could only wish to make songs so unique and flooring as these.

  • This is my way of saying goodbye

Because I can't do it face to face

I'm talking to you after it's too late

    From my videotape

    Can't argue with that!

  • the guy at 3:53 was apparently too cool for Videotape.

  • he had to go dry his eyes or explode. one or the other or both. cant harm the fellow fans or get em wet.

  • didnt like the album version, sounded like coldplay except cooler.

    but live is cool

  • one of the reason they changed it for the album is not to sound like other bands like coldplay n be different ...............be radiohead

  • i hated the album version at first, cos of the big guitar climax being missing from it. but now i think it's better

  • IM WITH YOU

  • i like how they've added handclaps to this version.

  • i can't download this video... why???

    an awesome radiohead..

  • One of my favourites from the album i think.

  • This is what I call perfect Radiohead. It truly feels like what they were going for in the previous albums finally came together in an awesome culmination of music. Videotape: This is one piece of music that has everything in it: ambiance, the meaningful lyrics, the hauntin quality of the running piano part. Its everything that I love about Radiohead. This is right up there with Pyramid Song for me. As long as its this song, I don't care whether its live or album. This song is made of win.

  • i love the more linear lyrics from thom...

    well said early...

  • well said

  • completely agree

  • i am in love with u too.

  • I can understand why the album version is not as "good" if you will. The energy brought up in the live version is not a great way to close such a "chill" album. They always had more mellow album closers, street spirit, the tourist, spinning plates, ect. I think they just wanted a song to close off the album well, and I think the thom and piano version does it quite well. The album version is pretty much identical to the "in the basement" version thom preformed in '05.

  • this version is just fucking amazing

  • good

  • this is moving stuff right here...radiohead needs to hit illadelphia up big time.

  • This is another great version.

It seems kind of like they rushed to release In Rainbows, they haven't got any definite version for this song.

  • well, actually, Thom had big ideas for this song, he had heaps more instruments and tracks in it etc, then he came back to the studio one day and it was all stripped down like it is now, and he loved it.

  • That guy is standing right in front of Tom!! i mean right next to hin!! Jesus!!!

  • I would well reach out and stroke thom if I was him sounds perverted I know but its thom lol.

  • i would cry

  • lol!!!

  • this songs takes me away to another universe.

  • hehe colin plays the old bridge from the 06 version really quietly

  • i agree with everyone who thinks that the live version before the album came out was so much better.

  • Who's everyone? Certainly not me.

My favorite is the "from the basement" version.

  • ...which is a live version from before the album came out ;p

  • My favourite band for ever..

  • I'm jealous of that girl and guy standing right next to Thom the whole time. what an experience that must've been.

  • Indeed it was (I was right behind them :) )

  • for the first two songs i couldn't stop repeating oh my god!!!!! i'm still not over it.

  • genial

  • I don't really like the original one,the drum make me sick but I gotta admit that this version is really cool and the drums is no more that disturbing.

  • the live version of this song they used to do before the album came out was MUCH MUCH BETTER. It really got me a little dissapointed to find it like this in In Rainbows

  • as much as i love videotape, and think its great

ill be pissed off if they play it live like this

i dont want to be stood still in a crowd like these guys, what about phil jonny and colin in this version?

the bootlegged version should still be the foundation for the live shows

  • The studio version is awesome, but got butchered in comparison to what they do with this song live. It's so much better on every live set.

  • jesus christ.... awe ...

  • What an incredible song, and so many version.

    Sadly beautiful.

  • amazing.

    nothing more

  • Anyone else think he should play it on the organ all the time from now on? It gives it a different cool sound. I'm sick of the piano!

  • there is no organ in this song

there is rhodes and electric guitar and drum machine

  • man i really wish i could have been there if i didnt live in Philly as opposed to london

I like how they make little mistakes cause it shows that they are like More human.

    not everyones perfect.

    but this song it people.

  • Every performance is unique and leaves you wanting more. My favorites is live at bonnaroo with Jonny on guitar but...for different reasons this is amazing.

  • why doesnt the album version have those ambient sounds it would have been much better

  • if he's not an angel then they don't exist...

  • this is excellent.

  • breathtaking performance...it's amazing what they managed to do with a few notes, a synth, a drum machine ( and such a voice!)

  • oh my god i was right there most awesome gig ever i was front row and it was totally worth the 5 hour wait and fighting the crowds.

  • high five!!

i was there too, it was the best gig in my life, and i've been to more than a few!!! but it sounded sooo much better than on the webcast!

  • It sounds really good on the organ.

  • thats a fender rhodes

  • it's an electric piano!

    rhodes.

  • I love this song. My favourite song from "rainbows". So much about feelings...

  • Anyone else get the feeling that maybe videotape shouldn''t have been on in rainbows not because it doesn't fit but simply cause it wasn't ready it took them ten years to get nude right and there must be about 7 different versions of videotape all brilliant but maybe they shouldnt have put it on an album until it was truly complete

  • It is truly complete, Thom said so

  • but how can u say this sounds anything like the album version and this doesn't even sound the scotch mist version from two weeks ago

  • They do change it alot, but that doesn't mean it is incomplete - I think the album version is the version that Thom said he is really happy with (read on NME that it is the greatest thing Radiohead have ever created, in his opinion), and all the other versions that are done live are just variations

  • Perfect.

  • absolutely beautiful, the subtle differences from the album version make it. i somehow can't see it being like this in the summer... not this quiet. all the meatheads shouting for 'creeeeeeep', like they were at V the other year. bah.

  • omg i was there! and i know exactly what you mean. they played some of in rainbows at the one i was at..i cant remeber which park it was, but it was the one that wasnt on telly. xD

  • stafford i think, yeah. videotape, all i need and nude it was, as far as i can remember. good night that was!

  • thom almost looks like an angel

  • thom is an angel ...

just he's a very depressed angel

  • Actually he's not that depressed.. I have heard him say that in several interviews.. he just writes all his depression down in the songs I think.

  • I can just imagine the enormous pressure on Thom, I mean he's like two feet away from the fans, someone could reach out and touch him.

  • Yeah... Look around 1.37.. He turns to the fan and kind of asks him if it's ok. Very cool:) Glad to see that he's a human after all and can make mistakes too. I didn't think so. What an amazing lyric and song.. Somehow it fills me with hope though. Yes, you die, but it's gonna be fine.

  • actually it's about it not being fine

  • Holy Fuck! To be this close To Thom.

    Ye Lucky Swine.
