This movie has such REAL dialogue... it flows like water. I watched another indie movie on Netflix, and it was awful. The dialogue was stiff, the actual words/character stories were forced and unbelievable, and the acting was average.
actually at the babyshower she would've been about 7 1/2 or 8 months and maybe the hot dog was the only think she could eat. ever heard of food aversions during pregnancy it's possible to have them the entire time though they usually go away after three months
she's great in this movie and so deserved to win the oscar over Rachel Weisz like Joanne Woodward had deserved to win in 1990 over Kathy Bates for Mr & Mrs Bridge granted it would've been her second oscar as she'd won in 1958 for The Three Faces Of Eve granted Eve's first bought of multiple personality disorder was triggered by the loss of an unborn child simillar to what Ashley goes through in this accept Woodward experienced the heartache in real life when she miscarried her first child
Amy's childlike innocence interacts with Madeline's sophistication. When Amy says something naive, Madeline smiles. It's not a condescending or snobbish smile, but a warm and loving smile, as though she were suddenly in a mother's role. Madeline never makes light of Amy's naivete . Despite Johnny's rebuffs and callousness, Amy tries to help him. Another facet of her angelic presence in the movie. When she loses the baby ("Junebug") she is so wounded, but her brother consoles her.
for anyone who wants to buy the DVD in the UK, they sell it at poundland for a pound :) I've bought mine and watched it probs about 5 times this week :)
why didn't they let her on the cheerleading squad?! she'd certainly have enough school spirit lol. Amy Adams actually played the slutty cheerleader in Drop Dead Gorgeous!
I love her and this performance!! Too bad she was in the same category as Rachel Weisz that year. But this year, I think she deserved to win for DOUBT. She was amazing!! That was THE role for her. Penelope Cruz was okay and also deserved to win, but I think this was Amy Adams chance to win. Too bad. I keep my fingers crossed for her to win the Oscar one day.
Amy Adams was the one single shining part of this movie. I hate depressing movies and this movie was heart-breaking for me. Her acting was great but it was a sad movie.
A well-2-do lady meets a smart and successful dude and marries him within a week. the movie takes place 6 months later when her job requires her to travel to his southern hometown. he comes along and they stay with his family which includes his bro who isn't as successful or smart and his bro's wife (amy adams). the rich woman finds she knows almost nothing of this man she married.
what i really like bout this movie ,, is the clash between the workinclass and the middleclass ,, its really good ,, but the filmmakes made a wierd thing when the men act .. its like they ar reterds or something ,,
im so sorry to comment three times, but i love this so much. i love how ashley just is so curious and kind of looks up to madeleine. and right after madeleine's like, "Fuck," ashley goes, "It's so...fucking cool, Madeleine." it's like she's just trying to imitate someone she really admires. it's adorable. and how ashley smiles after she asks madeleine if she read and rode horses at the same time! aw. amy really tailored this role perfectly.
If you'll notice the scene at the baby shower where Amy is kissing all of the guests on both cheeks, imitating Madeleine. This movie was so subtle and heartbreaking, but hilarious as well!!
"What're you waitin' for, an engraved invitation?!" lol awesome line.
YAY! THANK YOU SO MUCH! i was at the virgin megastore and junebug was in the sale bin so i picked it up and i watched it at my flat with my family. i was embarrassed at all the sex scenes just because my parents were there, but i just beamed at every single scene of amy's. my favorite was when she's doing madeleine's nails and she's like:
"Why, Miss Madeleine, you came in for..."
and the part whens he's telling madeleine about, "knocking on the wall and i'll know it's you!" :)
sometimes a star shines so bright that the movie is just icing on the cake. Naomi Watts in "Mulholland Drive," Penelope Cruz in "Vicky Cristina Barcelona," and most certainly, Amy Adams here. A terrific script like Junebug's gives her the perfect platform.
I love all this movies!have you Sean "Don't move" or "volver",Penelope Cruz is actually a grate actress but she doesn't translate that well wen she does American movies:( .and as far as movies go,I also like "me you and everyone we know"can you recommend any other movie.
NesyDan, here are films that have strong performances of unforgettably idiosyncractic leads: Barbarian Invasions, Talk To Her, Day Trippers, Next Stop Wonderland, Three Colors - Blue, Three Colors - Red, Lives of Others, Babette's Feast
que grandiosa actriz es amy..., el performance de ben mckenzie también me parece bueno, un papel distinto para el, muestra una versatilidad que no pensé que tenía.
The fact that she has this sort of innocent admiration for the other woman really makes her character likable. It's almost as if she is a child looking up to her mother.
that is such a true comment. ashley is definitely in admiration of other women and she is like a child looking up to her mum. i really loved amy's portrayal of ashley. it's joyous and also sad in a way. ashley's like a pregnant child.
your right she is a child. Even her mannerisms give this child-like innocence and I think Madeleline picks up on that and becomes her mentor in a scence.

This sweet movie should have won Best Actress in a Supporting Role and should AT LEAST have been nominated for Best Original Score.
Call me a female pervert, but in combination with the Score, the masturbation scene was so sensual and beautiful!
