I love my westerns, and this was a surprise to me! I half expected the roles to be switched by Crowe and Bale, then it turns out for an amazing ending! However, when Crowe opens fire on his gang at the end and drops them in a second, it still doesn't compare to Clint Eastwood's shooting skills ;)

He even had the same look on his face before he did it I swear!

@DudeHuge yea it has plenty to do w/ the ending as this was the song played at beginning and end but what i'm referring to is the moral of the story that being "sometimes a man has to be big enough to see just how little he is" and Dan Evans was just that big and so he gave his life 2 do what no one else would but in the end Wade escaped and his son was left with nothing which kind of shows that all his efforts was in vain

Seraphim Falls, 3:10 to Yuma, The Assassination of Jesse James, and Appaloosa . . . from 2006 to 2008 hollywood did a great Job of bringing back well made Westerns with tremendous storytelling.

To bad 2009 couldn't continue the trend.

The film wasn't perfect, but I just had to watch it twice.. The theme of honor and how they played with the good-guy/bad-guy -thing made it interesting (and also Ben Foster as Charlie Prince(ss).. :)).

I tend to not really enjoy western films but I have to be honest and say this was a great movie.

My favorite part is where the prisoner stabbed that gaurd in the neck with a tiny fork and started singing the song "There gonna hang me, in the mornin." ha, instant classic.

You guys have to get out more. This movie was ok but it was not great. I liked and will probably buy it but it was not the greatest western ever. The Magnificent Seven, Big Country, OK Corral, River of No Return, Nevada Smith, High Noon, and Shane are some of the greatest westerns. The Good, the bad and the Ugly was also a classic.

Yeah 'The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly' is one of the best plus probably the best song movie ever for a western, anyway. Also, one of the all time 'best' goes to Shane. Shane was a really great western. Jack Palance's role as the bad guy was one of the coolest.
