God we listened to this song in choir class and i'm just sitting there in extreme concentration about what cartoon my mom used to make me watch that had this song in it. FINALLY! It took me 3 weeks to figure it out!
that was the great thing about this song...it was a role-model song, warning american children what could happen if they didn't do what they were suppossed to. well, they didn't, and guess what?!
oh, my god. when i was a kid my mom bought me a little lulu vhs, and this was totally in it. there was also one where little lulu has a dream about like..desert or something? like icecream and all this other crap
My mom use to order a series of classic cartoons on VHS and this was on there. I used to watch the hell out of it. I also found it funny that it's a cartoon about school and they spell writing wrong lol.
@padraigdublin95 Yes I think my brother and I did, it was our favourite video growing up, we watched it so many times the tape got dirty so we had to throw them away. They were Warner Brothers classic tapes which came in giant video boxes as there was two videos to each box. They were not unlike the Disney sing-a-longs videos, but had the 'best of' episodes of Warner Brothers. In them was a Christmas one called 'Big Paw' about bears meeting 'Big Paw' during Christmas.
@Impressionsish I had a different tape this was on, it was the 50 Classic Cartoons but there are several of those to sort through now, but it's mostly the same things on all of them.
I still sing this little ditty all the time! We had quite a fun mix of cartoons on VHS in the mid 80's. I never understood why the pig was wearing a party hat or why the fish had some sort of horn growing out of his head....I had no idea they were dunce caps till years later. lol
I heard this song about a week ago in a store and I immediately thought of this cartoon! For the longest time I couldn't remember the name of this character. Thanks for uploading :)
Unfortunately, school does not guarantee you won't become these things. I've met many pigs, mules, fishes, and well, let's face it... most everyone's a monkey these days.
I always say, "College doesn't guarantee a job, and it doesn't guarantee common sense."
omg!!! I remember this when I was a little girl. My parents had it on a vhs and I watched it all the time! dang it has been 11 years since i was a little girl.
I loved LuLu, but totally HATED Jerry Colona - I'm 60 years and remember this all so well. Bing Crosby is the first star, then Bob Hope and then Colona. I dislike Colona to this day....
im sooo happy to have found this. This was my moms fav when she was little and passed it on to me and now i passed it to my sister.. i will one day pass it to my child.
I'm 17, and others have also said, I too had this on video and I believe I watched it every now and then when younger. Literally haven't heard this in years.
I remember this clip as a child in the late 1940's. I believe it was originally part of a movie, as an insert. It came on suddenly in the middle of the movie, not part of the 5 cartoons that usually came with a Saturday matinee. I was also a fan of Little Lulu comic books. Some of the stories had a satirical edge.
This is one of the cartoons I grew up watching, and one of the few I will never forget. Now that I'm 22 I realize how true this was with Apollo and Orion. Unfortunately politics killed Orion, otherwise people would have been landing on Mars in the late 1980's.
Dont forget that this song was written ~15 years before Apollo.
there was a video of these 40s little lulu episodes in my grannies... i have no idea how they got there- it seems like such a random esoteric cartoon to have on video... i haven't seen this since i was four
@Debzmc101 i know!! same here! i remember this from when i was four and curiosity led me to desire to hear this song with the cartoon again.. wow old times... im only 14 and im sayin this haha
I watched this movie at my Grandparents house everytime I went over there as a kid. Some girl at school was singing this song yesterday and I freaked out cause I totally forgot about little lu lu!!
@LittleKarpat I used to watch this at my grandparents' house too! I had to sing the song today as a music therapy student working with the elderly and just had to look it up on Youtube to watch it again after about 20 years!
i remem watching the vhs of a series of cartoons with this one in it, was there a title to it? or does anyone know the title? kinda like merry melodies where tweetie first came out and porky pig and such. can anyone tell me how to find it again?
Oh yeah! I've got one of these, I have the Felix the Cat one, and this is on it. It's called Cartoon Carnival: Felix the Cat and Friends. Hope this helps!
I love this song. I also like Bing Crosby, he wrote a lot of great music. I got like three CDs of his Christmas music. lol :P I'm a weird kid, and I love it. :)
I love this song. I used to listen Bing a lot growing up. i still have his Christmas album and like three Christmas CDs. Can't find the record though. lol. I have ths video on tape at too. I'm probably the only seventeen year old who likes his music. :P
since the m-f'er lobby started writing them, lol. such a true song, and such a good show. you know, without school she'd never have thought of the multi-chalk thing!
I found it!
