As I already replied many times before, the whole "shelter" thing was something 4Kids made up when they dubbed episode 8(7 in the original Japanese version). Apparently 4Kids thought that her family would never show anyways, so they made the whole thing up without watching ahead.

In the original, Minto/Corina just said that life might be hard for her. There was no mention of a shelter. Also the English dub cut out the scene involving her father.

NO THIS IS ALL WRONG! Firstly: at 4:24 she was saying she will tell them about Pudding(Kiki's) family, and then when Mint(Carina) moves her leg at 4:29 The lady was actually saying her mum had died. Then she explained how Pudding(Kiki) does all the cleaning and her dad travels and stuff. Secondly: ENGLISH VERSION SUCKS.

It was a mistake 4Kids made when dubbing the show into English. They made Minto/Corina say it without watching ahead. The original Japanese version never made that mistake.

But just look at that line. In episode 8 SHE said the line about Kikki living in the shelter. They didn't all THINK it. Corina said it, and very sure of herself, to make Zoey feel bad for telling Kikki to "go home", when she wasn't suppose to have one. 4Kids changed that and added the line you just quoted to try to cover up their own mistake.

Well, I watched the original Japanese version for one thing. Next is to look at the English version and look at the mistakes 4Kids made when changing the characters. Saying Purin/Kikki lived in a shelter was one of them and that line was put in to cover it up. There were other changes that were made that would've caused more plot-holes in the 2nd season but 4Kids never dubbed those into English.

There isn't enough Japanese culture in this show that would confuse kids. My youngest sister was about that age and has autism. She was able to watch anime where they kept the Japanese stuff intact and she was able to understand it all just fine.

Didn't you watch the episode before this one? She does get a fin, but under different circumstances XD.

They never show what would happen to the other girls(since they don't really show them in any relationships with others), so no one really knows. But it is hinted that Pudding/Kikki's ears and tail can pop up too since it was shown in an extra side story of the manga(comic).

4Kids tend to dub shows without watching ahead. In episode Kikki's debut episode Mint/Corina originally said that a child must have rough circumstances to be trying to get money from people in a park. The English dub changed the line to her living in a shelter to get Zoey a reason to feel bad for telling Kikki to "go home". But since they didn't watch ahead, they sort of made a plothole. Sure they made Corina say it was something they assumed but the the mistake is obvious.

Yeah. The original Japanese creators didn't like how 4Kids dubbed the show. They changed a lot of the plot and cut scenes out. 4Kids also hardly advertised the show and never released merchandise too.
