  • She feels each word as she sings it, a great and immortal American singer!

  • Great clip! But folks, please stop arguing over who's better, Judy or Eydie or whomever. At their high level of achievement, comparisons are irrelevant. It's like trying to decide who's better: Beethoven or Mozart. The question is silly.

I read somewhere that Judy Garland herself named Gorme as her favorite, or one of her favorite current singers around this time. They're both wonderful and let's just be thankful to the gods for giving them both to us to enjoy.

  • That is incredible, goose bump city

  • The best singer ever! I just became her first fan club member. Please join with me to honor this great performer. A great team Steve and Eydie. Linda

  • Very very very very wonderful!!!!

    GREAT!!!!

  • Goosebumps...I love you, Eydie!

  • No one can sing a torch song like Eydie. I still love listening to her. She sang from her heart and soul.

  • me

gustan la musica antigua de los 60y70

todas las peliculas de monitos animados antiguos..

  • Eydie vs Judy...Judy wins in passion but as a singer, Eydie has the control and technical superiority without sacrificing feeling. Eydie is the most overlooked female traditional pop vocalist. None beat her, not Judy, Liza, Streisand, Carr, Ella, Doris etc.

  • @jimmybrown11111 Totally agree... nobody could really touch Eydie for full bore range, tone and clarity. She was also TWICE as pretty as most her contremporaries and I could never understand why Hollywood didn't come running....Eydie deserved a much bigger career......

  • This was when music was still classy and beautiful! Just an amazing voice!

  • Eydie was/is magnificent. But Judy was psychotic. So the edge goes to Judy by a point or two.

  • She's has been my favorite female singer...right on pitch...

  • She's has been my favorite female singer...great pitch...

  • NO ONE HAS DONE THIS SONG BETTER.

  • Note perfect and impressive, as usual, but I don`t know if I actually believed her or felt her.

  • She is truly great what a beautiful voice!!! Perfect performance

  • Eydie Gorme, uma excelente cantora, uma das vozes mais bonitasdo

    mundo

  • what can ya say, absolutely beautiful! Nobody did this song better!! And I doubt anybody ever will!

  • My dad worked on the Steve Allen show. She appeared with some great talent.

This one women was the star of every show she was in. Thanks for postimg this clip.

  • Her performance conjures up the word....astounding!

  • OK. Love Barbra Streisand and I refuse to compare two great Artists because thats just silly...But Eydie Gorme must have been Barbra Streisand before Streisand became Streisand...I guess Im wondering why Miss Gorme was not a whole lot more famous as she clearly is a great Vocalist. They even look a bit alike. And Miss Gorme must have been discovered first...hmmm.Perhaps she gave up some opportunities to continue working with her husband. Nothing wrong with that as love is more important than fame

  • Lord have mercy! I forgot how much this woman rocks

  • Mercy, I had such a heavy pre-teen crush on Eydie! Surely she would be the Princess Snow White that my kiss would awaken. Now I'm an old guy sipping my wine alone on a Saturday night - smiling at my youthful innocence - but nevertheless congratulating myself on my impeccable taste. Eydie was and always will be ROYALTY - one of the greatest female voices of all time and one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen. THANKS for sharing, Philo T:)

  • w0w .. very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very

    NICE VOICE ..

  • What a pure and clear voice. Love it!

  • Goodness.....She makes it look so effortless

  • Not many like this one is there?

  • Liza has gone on record saying her mothers favorite female singer was Eydie, so that says something too

  • @dtw1958 they sound alike...

  • eydie doesn't always have the power, she cracks here and there. But honestly

how many singers could belt like her, streisand, and garland in those days? Maybe Bassey a bit, but not much more!

  • streisand is crap. Eydie is a Goddess!

  • Que pedazo de cantante

  • This pretty little could sure deliver a song,,, amaxing

  • Absolutely amazing. She brought tears to my eyes. She is truly an inspiration Although the main stream singers like Garland and Streisand got there name big for a reason, its the few diamonds in the rough that are the real treasures worth finding.

  • Listening to this reminds me of the radio station that my mom kept on in the '60s and '70s. I really dig this genre of music. What happened to the music industry is a metaphor for what has happened to this country.

  • I love Eydie, she has true talent and beauty.

  • completely better then streisand. i honestly don't know what people see in her.

eydie is the best. that's all there is to it!

  • @musicloveBH Gorme certainly had a great voice, but it wasn't as nuanced as Streisands. When she belts, it's a full out belt, nothing in between. Plus, half the time Gorme sang out of tune...and even worse, they released the recordings when they could've just re-recorded them in tune.

  • @dannybex well that's your opinion. we all obviously do not have the same taste which is fine.

  • I love how Eydie sings this song. She puts her heart and soul into the words she sings. This song is perhaps one of my favourite Eydie songs.

  • @liebtiff her spanish songs are the best

  • And I used to think Streisand was good

  • They definitely don't make them like this anymore.

  • The talent and abilities she possesses is incredible. Eydie is a star in her own right!!

  • Not a diva, a Goddess!

  • We've all come to see this song as being a heartfelt example of loyalty and true love, but in the context of the show ("Oliver") it's sung by a drudge of a woman who's being abused by the man she's singing about. And just as in the original Dickens novel, he eventually kills her. Of course, he also tries to kill Oliver, and then gets killed himself in the end, so there ya go.

  • @FrontRowGuy the most down troden person can love, in Nancy s case she really did love Bill, not a good or healthy choice but still love. Of course Bill didnt deserve Nancy, her love, or her loyalty, no abuser dose. Nancey if you read the novel was good at heart but this was England where it was very class centered, no way out untill it came too late for her to believe it was possable for her, she died helping Oliver, the reason behind it

  • Brilliant.

  • Stop the bus, I'm getting off here!

  • lol omg i didnt know eydie gorme could actually sing i just thought of eydie and steve as "guest stars" on ummm the love boat ..

  • magnificent voice of an era worth remembering!

  • No one could ever sing live like Eydie.

  • In the '60's we called the hairpiece she is wearing a "fall"

  • I hope people in vulnerable, should've-kicked-rocks-years-ago, relationships aren't taking these lyrics to heart.

  • a very pretty and rare gem of a singer...a real diva !!!

  • She has pipes!

  • WOW what a version I love Bassey but this is wonderful.

  • Eydie Gorme has such a pure voice, whether she's singing softly or belting out the tune.

  • Amazing! The girl never breathes!

  • Awesome vocals. Looks like Sarah Palin here.

  • @ParadiseBlue369 LOL, yep just put the glasses and that's it.... ha,ha,ha

  • Oh my! Oh my! I do so miss singers who understand and caress great lyrics. Ms. Gorme is one of the greats.

  • !BELLO! ALTA CALIDAD VOCAL Y EMPATÍA

  • shirley bassey - is another all time great, fabulous singers and touched by the hands of god. and a great gift to the world. thanks for being all that uve ever been. we love you !!

  • eydie gorme - one of my all time favorite singers. she's an awesome talent that inspiring god given voice with great range. in some ways, she's in a class like no other. kudo's to this remarkle, beautiful, and dynamic artist. thanks for being a gift to all the world. we love you !!

  • So great to hear her sing. I grew up listening to her records! What a voice!

  • Eydie Gorme', Vikki Carr and Shirley Bassey have Powerful Voices and are great Singer But None of them could Touch Judy Garland's Talent how she could Belt a song. Judy at Carnegie Hall is the Prime example of what a rich an dpowerful Voice is. But Eydie is one hell of a singer!

  • Eydie Gorme - what a singer! Breathing, phrasing, tone - and her unique ability to connect to her song -- just an AMAZING thing to witness. THRILLED to find this number posted. This Lady is just in a class all her own! Many thanks for this!

  • Eydie should have been given the part in the movie! FND

  • Great rendition and one of the few of her posts where shes not lipsinking. She doesn't "modulate down" she actually stays in the same key but it is unusual just the same.

  • She has quite a good version of the song. Thanks for the upload.

  • Amazing songstress. Interesting that she modulated down on the key change instead of up. Beautiful arrangement, incredible voice.

  • No doubt. One of the best at delivering a song like this.

  • Singers are trained to NOT sing or say the letter "R" at the end of a word but to end the word softer "ah" - Olivah.. hard to break training

  • @ctbear26

Specially if youse is from Noo Yawk.

  • What a voice!

  • Avery fine artist and truly a magnificent voice not much u can say except she is a truly great singer and artist and has brought much joy to a lot of people

    hercules 10

  • EVERYTHING this woman sings is brilliant. She never disappoints.

  • No one, absolutely no one, can do this song like Eydie Gorme. This performance is stunning.

  • She was so amazing! Why did she say "Olivah!" ?

    LOL!

  • i wish my woman would wish like this..... too bad i ain't got no woman in my lonely life at the moment...

  • Eydie hits it out of the park.

  • Can you download this to an MP3?

  • Beautiful Voice I love Eydie Gorme and Now I want to give this to you back I want to dedicate this song to you back. Eydie Thanks for all your Talent you had been sharing with all of Us Your fans. With Love For you. I Love you

  • Another awesome for this one. How beautiful. I keep meaning to get over to their website and order this music which still sounds like real music!

  • Absolutely stunning! The way she held the phrase over the key change without a breath is simply magnificent.

  • As good as it gets and ever got. Eydie is one of the all time greats!

  • SO RIGHT YOU ARE!!!!

  • 歌唱力、最高

  • what a beautiful voice, She had it all , grace , elegance and class. One of the all time great singers. She is very beautiful too.

  • this song reminds me of my late aunt,,who inspired me to play the piano,,miss you mama,

  • Bassey and Gorme.....dead heat, voice-wise, but I do think Eydie was a little more versatile. Check out her PERFECT Spanish recordings!

  • Truly stunning! I saw her sing this in concert in San Antonio several years ago. It brought the house down!

  • this is amazing...

  • This was her best song , by far! Excellent performance!

  • They don't have singers around anymore like her. Just\

    crap.

  • Olivah... thats too funny

  • One of the most underrated female vocalist of our time! Eydie you are terrific. Your album "Don't Go to Strangers" is a masterpiece.

  • A B S O L U T E L Y !!!!!!!!!!!

  • truly incredible singer!

  • Another incredible performance from one of the greatest singers.!

  • I love the strength Eydie has in her voice...lovely.

  • what a voice she has always had

  • Not a diva, a Goddess!

  • well said.

  • Yeah!!!

    Jorge-Argentine

  • Great Stuff! . . . Thank You for generously posting this . . .

  • I dont think its so much the lack of great female singers as much as great songs today

  • I don't think she was given the type of recognition she deserved as a singer. She can really hit those money notes.

  • She is awesome and give me chills with this song. Judy Garland sang it incredibly too on the Judy Garland Show in 1963.

  • @NFitalianGuy YOU GOT THAT RIGHT! Judy made every hair on your body stand up when singing this.

  • this song from oliver was a big hit for shirley bassey-one of the best singers in the world-but eydies version is a dream!

  • I agree about Shirley Bassey.

  • THAT'S how you sell a ballad!!! Fantastic!

  • Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gorme are the Best Of The Best!!No one beats them. The Music is more than Beautiful. It is out of this World.I had the privaledge of seeeing them at The Concord Hotel un Kiamesha Lake New York for Many Years, but have not seen them perform since September 1994. No One can interpret Gershwin or Irving Berlin or the Best songs from Broadway & Beyond like Steveand Eydie

  • It doesn't get better than this Gorme performance....amazing interpretation plus having the best of pipes...truly one of the most underrated singers of our time.

  • Another great performance from one of the best ever - "Olivah" I love it! Being in NYC myself I always get a kick out of her Bronx accent since I hear it all the time. She never lost it which is great. Eydie's the real deal - just pure talent.

  • Thanks for your post...I just love how Eydie interprets the words to this wonderful song. She is truly amazing...and is undervalued in the music industry, which in my opinion is a real shame. I am so glad that fellow devoted Eydie fans post her music on You Tube. Thanks again for your post. Andrea

  • Great song from the London musical OLIVER (1960) later made into a movie in 1969.

Eydie is a belter in this one. great.

  • actually the film "Oliver" was released in 1968. The film was the winner of the Motion Picture Academy Of Arts & Sciences Oscar for Best film of the year.
